My stay here at the Red Roof Inn in Canton Ohio has been a very intriguing one. First would start off when checking in. When front desk staff is checking people in it is very important that staff should not interfere in conversation because that can slow down that front desk clerk and checking them in. I had walked into the door and I was waiting to be seen so that I can check in and unfortunately I may have seen aggravated however it was because I need to use the restroom. And you did not have a public restroom for someone to use. So I waited patiently. The clerk that came in to relieve the young lady that checked me in was very rude. She looked at me did not think one second and clocked in began to do her work and didn't say anything. She checked in someone ahead of me and didn't even apologize for the fact that maybe a person sitting in your front desk area was the next person in line. So therefore the young lady that checked me in had to extend her work moment because the one we're leaving her was rude. After checking in and I walked into the room I realized the room was clean and satisfaction was received at that moment.
However when I got back from my wedding I was able to really observe my room. Typically I complained the first thing about is the bed but today I can say the bed was very good for me. However I have a problem with other little small things that actually can matter when someone has been working very hard for their money and wanted to stay away. The lighting system in the room is very poor. The electrical outlets by the telephone between the beds is not working. The ventilation system in this room is very poor. That was the first major thing that I noticed because you can see that there was watermarks from the ceiling from pillage of the paint. Walking toward the back of the room, I noticed that they were dark marks on the walls and that was paint splatter but there is no dark paint in this room so now I wonder as to what truly is the dark marks. Now lastly going into the bathroom with a shower. It needs ventilation.
The peeling of the paint is just beyond horrible. The shower head has green marks from the corrosion that is occurring on the shower head. And wish I was saying in the shower head pressure was awesome that was the only good thing about the shower. And on top of that you have other dark marks from rust throughout this entire tub and you have the uneven Tower bar.
And then lastly, you have extreme Moisture Control issues because on the floor behind the toilet where the shower would hit the wall water is seeping to the side and the wall is starting to receive the water and it is falling apart. Your borders that are there are no longer really serving its purpose because the paint is chipping off and you even have what is visibly black mold but it is just regular household mold in the corners of your Tubs on the floor.
And housekeeping it would be lovely if you would change the lint catcher because as I use the towels all this white residue started to come off the towels. So that lets me to let somebody did not clean the lint catcher in your dryer.
Actually one more point to be taken, the walls are extremely thin. The person in room 114, your TV was on all night and I was able to hear the whole episode of the TV show that they...
Read moreWe arrived just before 8 PM to find the office closed and a sign on the door saying they'd be back soon. My friend waited with another customer who had been there before us. Maybe 20 minutes later, someone opened it up. We had a lot of trouble getting the key-card lock to work on our room door, which is outdoors, so in bad weather it would have been even more annoying than it was. We inserted the card various ways and varied how fast we would slide it. After several minutes of this, we figured out a pattern that worked pretty reliably. Our next-door neighbor, who had arrived at about the same time we did, was having even worse trouble, and we were not able to get her card to open her door. We never saw her again, so I'm guessing she found another room or left, altogether. The bed was a little soft for my taste, but tolerable. The heating/air-conditioning was easy to figure out, though only AC was needed. It was effective, but I'd have liked it to be a little louder because I like the sound-masking that a fan provides. It was reasonably quiet around our unit except for some vehicle noises, and birds that seemed to like to hang out in the parking lot just outside the door. So even with earplugs, I had a little trouble sleeping, but I do consider myself somewhat noise-sensitive and/or a light sleeper. With the car being just steps from the door, it was easy to unload and reload, with the downside being the noises mentioned. The bathroom was tiny. There was limited room to stand, to even close the door behind you. In the shower, my head nearly touched the ceiling. I'm about 5'11". But there was otherwise plenty of room to move around, with a curved curtain rod. The bathtub floor had a fairly severe slope near the drain, that took me off-guard and slightly off balance when I first stepped backward. My friend and I kept finding a small puddle of water right next to the toilet. We put a towel down a couple of times to soak it up, but it always returned, and in our two-night stay we never did figure out where that was coming from. There was free Wi-Fi in the room, which I was easily able to find and access with my smartphone. There were two USB ports on a shelf between the beds, which neither of us noticed until the 2nd day. Good to have a refrigerator and microwave oven, both of which worked. A Bob Evans was right across the street, which was a great convenience, and served good breakfasts and one dinner. There was also a Panda Express within a three or four-minute walk. It's not a good area for casual walking, though -- no sidewalks that I recall, and fairly steady traffic. We also visited the combination Target/CVS (I think those were the stores) in the same shopping area as Panda Express and Bob Evans. A few other stores and another restaurant or two were also within walking distance, though again it seems designed more for cars. I don't recall anything scenic or fun about the area, but it was easy to find, reasonably pleasant, and felt...
Read moreThe staff is friendly, but you can get more value for your dollar at less expensive hotels around the area that are nicer and far cleaner. If you do choose this place, my biggest recommendation is that you request copies for EVERYTHING that you sign there. My card was charged 117 dollars without my permission by the hotel. When we confronted the front desk about it, we were told by the gentlemen that it was a mistake and that my card would be refunded. When the refund did not come, we once again spoke to the front desk, we were told that they would add on a free night for the mistaken charge instead of a refund. My girlfriend has membership points and is charged close to forty five percent less under her name when we book and pay for the room. My card was charged full price ($117) without my permission. With it being an upcoming holiday week, booking in a different hotel so suddenly was impossible which gave us no choice but to except their "free" extra day in place of receiving my money back. But being regulars, we were told that they would refund thirty dollars to my card to get us closer to what we were paying regularly......My girlfriend signed the papers for our "free" day which brings us to today.....We receive a call from the front desk asking us if we were going to checkout today or if we were booking and paying for an extension....We have had enough. I did not get my refund for 117 dollars and I doubt that I will even receive the thirty dollars. I have the bookings and payments saved that proves that I was incorrectly charged 117 dollars. I don't know if this is common practice at this place, but it happened to me. Whenever I paid for the room on my card, I did it in person. The 117 dollars just disappeared from my account in the middle of the day while I was at work and was told by the desk that evening that it was their mistake and could expect a refund. This is my experience at The Red Roof Inn...
