As always,Mission Bbq remains a top notch choice for a good bbq meal. The brisket is our favorite, and the cornbread is moist and sweet, just like God intended. Found out today that I actually like the KC bbq sauce the best. Update for 01-19-25 for now I dropped my all 5 star review from last year to 3 because TODAY the food was AT BEST a 1. That hurts to say, but it was probably our worst $40 dinner we've ever had, and it may be a while before we bother going back. We're going to have to see a reflection of better food in new reviews before we trust it got better again. The brisket today was kind of warm, but at least ok. The chicken was cool and dry. The beans bland and Luke warm. Previously, I raved about the corn bread. This hurts. The cornbread was burnt bottom and top. You could only scoop out the dry, hard to swallow middle and eat the crunchy top. The inedible bottom was left for the trash. But the main point that made me update the review was the BLACK PLATE SPECIAL. The smoked strip steak. We both wanted to order this. They only had one, and I THANK GOD that my wife let me get it and NOT her. PLEASE don't order this. It was a huge, huge fail. It was beyond well done and dry. 1/3 was so hard that it would not cut with the plastic knife given to us. I pulled out the pocket knife to get thru it. It was kind of funny for both of us to try to cut thru it. PLEASE! If this is normally on the menu...REMOVE IT! This does not give a customer anywhere near what they expect or what they pay for. Hey... the fries were ok, but I had to wait for them to come out during the meal. Not a deal breaker. No big deal.... if they were actually cooked properly and therefore seemed fresh. These fell short, but with enough of that awesome BBQ sauce, even that goes over ok. Lol

Patriotism: The restaurant has a dedicated chair for the spirits of the Prisoners of War and Missing In Action, patriotic pictures ranging from photos of 9/11/2001, the raising of the stars and stripes at Iwo Jima, to various uniform patches worn by the red and blues (firefighters and police). My favorite feature of the restaurant, is how they have Old Glory hanging overhead in the middle of the ceiling and honor her daily at noon, by playing "The Star Spangled Banner," - I came here for the opportunity to sing the national anthem outside of sports, and to see how many were patriotic and brave enough to sing in a restaurant and face the stars and stripes in a restaurant, and I was swelling with patriotic pride as I witnessed everyone - staff and customers, taking part in honoring her! :-D Friendly staff: The person who serves your food at the dine in counter tell you their name, explain how the restaurant works if it's your first visit like mine was, and they come to where you're seated to offer take-out boxes (compared to most restaurants where you have to flag your server down to ask), and they thank service members for their duty, whether its civil or military. While the food ranges from too dry and salty for some dishes (I had a pulled pork sandwich that tasted too dry and chewy without the table sauce I chose, Memphis Belle, and the seasonal potato salad to me at least, is overly seasoned with cracked pepper). I will definitely be returning to this restaurant to have a chance to sing The Star-Spangled Banner outside more often, the Grape Nehi, and for the friendly, patriotic atmosphere, again in the future.

I have to say I was really impressed by this restaurant from the very moment we walked in.This was my first time to this restaurant by recommendation. My cousin was already at the restaurant when we made it.It was close to closing time so I thought we may need to hurry to get something say and leave(9:15) close at 10.We went to counter to order but we didn't know what to order. The young lady at the counter ask you see any thing you would like to try.So we said yes.I tried the brisket and my cousin tried the ribs. Both were beyond excellent. At this time the general manager came out and contacted us.To make this story short he was amazing and treated us as family. We were traveling from alabama and Tennessee. He made us aware of the locations close, gave his card and told us to have the manager at that location to call him if we visited one of those locations close to home. That alone will make me a customer for life.To the other restaurants, please don't mess it up.Now back to barbq. The brisket was moist and tender with a touch of smoke not messing up the beef flavor. The ribs were top 10.Ive had ribs all across the south and Memphis and these are real deal.I will say you can't go wrong with any of the sides but the mac and cheese gets 6 stars. So to the staff thank you.Even after they closed they brought refills bags and containers for what we didn't complete. They all were HAppy to do so.This is the longest review I've ever done but it was truly worth it.Thanks again

I was there twice in one week, for Navy Day, Wed. 5/13 and Armed Forces Day, Sat. 5/16. Not having a job right now, I went there for the free sandwich each day just to have something to eat. I called each day to verify the deal offered, and Sat. I called just less than 3 hrs. before they opened and the employee I spoke to was polite, professional and informative. The food has been excellent each of the three times we were there, the staff professional, helpful and polite. Any other place would have not picked up the phone or chewed my head off. With my need for work and the fact that Mission BBQ honors Anerica's vets and first responders, I wouldn't mind working here. They obviously have a workplace culture that works and that is good for business...one that I also aspire to. Good job in resetting the necessary standard for all business, regardless of industry. You consistently make my wife and I proud and fill our bellies with the best of food. On another note, they take a veteran at his or her word and didn't require an ID card or DD 214 to verify veteran status. Keep up the excellent work you do everyday. You are the standard!!! Thank you.

1.5 stars. Having arrived today 6/11/2020 just after 7pm, Mission BBQ was out of top AND bottom buns and still charged me the stiff price of $13.25 for very little food at all. I received an email advertisement today advertising free flag lapel pins to veterans for flag day on 6/14, but they were out of them too. Portions do not...
