Picked this hotel after reading a lot of reviews of this and other hotels. This hotel has the most overwhelmingly positive reviews, only the majority were raving about the hotel restaurant, Tapps Lounge. Well, I thought I'd take a chance on the rooms being good too.... Turns out the rooms were just fine! While a little dated, they had all the usual amenities and were very clean. Staff is also pretty friendly, oddly enough this is the first hotel where they also had a virtual front desk for after hours. You basically join a video call if you have any issues. I didn't use it personally but think it's a pretty cool concept.
I also have to say, the restaurant lived up to and IMHO surpassed the reviews. This is a scratch kitchen set up so the food was fresh and the chef/owner is amazing! The flavor profiles were all on point. In the 2nd night, my son tried the Mac and cheese and finished with the cheescake - he usually doesn't like either but he loved them here!! The service was also on point, a special shout out to Pash our waiter and Val the bartender. They made the experience all the more enjoyable with their attentive service. It's hard to go wrong here at this little gem...
Read moreI stayed here 2 seperate times for a business trip. First time, my room smelled like feet. Like moldy/mildewy. I bought febreeze to mask it was so stinky.
The second room was a lot better but had an open hole in the wall of the shower where the shower head was ripped out. They replaced the shower head but didnt even attempt to patch the hole. Open hole with a piece of white styrofoam on the inside. One of the bedroom lights was either burnt out or broken. My window opened up to a view of the roof, which wouldnt have been an issue, if there wasnt litter all over it.
I used the gym several times during my stay and found the equipment to be sticky. When I went to give everything a good wipedown, the white cloth turned dark brown after the first swipe. Empty used water cups were all over and were never cleaned up during my week long stay. The laundry hamper for used towels was full and untouched as well.
There was a lady at the front desk who was very sweet and was there almost every day of my stay she was very welcoming. But a lot of the other staff seemed bothered if you approached them (like when I checked in).
While not the worst place, there are serious areas for...
Read moreWhen my wife and I pulled up, I really questioned whether or not they were still in business. The building looked vacant from the outside. Lots of construction going on outside in the parking lot. Staff was very friendly. The lobby area and bar were very nice. The pool area was very large and well kept. Back in their Glory Days, the room we were in was probably one of the best in town. We opted for a Jacuzzi suite with a king bed. For the money, it was probably a pretty good deal, but a number of things looked dated and the small issues I saw suggested that nobody went through the rooms to look at things that could be fixed. My greatest concern was with the sleeper sofa in the suite that looked like it had been picked up at a Goodwill center. For the other reviews that think that this place is exceptional or as good as a five-star hotel, I would say those people need to broaden their horizons and actually stay at a five-star hotel. This place got three stars mostly because I think they have the potential to be very good, but need to focus a little bit more on...
