I called the Mattress Firm Grand Rapids East about 10:30am this morning, and Mike, a store Attendant answered my call, kindly asking how he could hep me. I asked my main question of whether or not Mattress Firm could sold a twin-size, extra-long mattress for a hospital bed in one's home. Mike kindly told me the store could make that provision and had samples in the store of what the mattress felt and looked like. I then told him I planned to visit the store ASAP. So, when I arrived at the store within an hour of my call, I was very impressed, and grateful, for the pleasant greeting I received not only from Mike, but also from another gentleman Attendant, Kevin. They both gave kind welcomes when I, and a friend who was with me, entered the store. I next told both gentlemen the dimensions of the frame of the twin size, electric hospital bed that needed a new extra-long mattress, and that it would be used by my husband, with whom I lived, and who had a physical handicap necessitating that he use a walker to walk. Mike showed me two different queen size mattresses and also said I could lie down on each, with my shoes on. He told me either mattress, in the twin-xl size, could be used on an electric hospital bed. I thought both mattresses were comfortable and before leaving the store, told the gentlemen I would invite my husband to come to the store later in the day to see if he would have a preference of one over the other. And so, in fact, I did return in the late afternoon with my husband, Ted, who did lie on each of the same two mattresses I sampled; he had no difficulty choosing the one he thought would be best for him. Only the Attendant, Keven, was present at that time and he not only answered all my husband's questions, but he also typed up a couple of papers with info he had given us on the mattresses, accessories, and cost that included discounts as well as means and timing of payment; Kevin said he would update Mike about our visit. I then told Kevin, I would like to stop back at the store tomorrow afternoon, when I would be out shopping, to give him Ted's and my decision regarding the options presented on the papers. Both Ted and I were very pleased with our experience at Mattress Firm Grand Rapids East and intend I do intend to follow through with going to the store tomorrow and signing papers as...
Read moreMy girlfriend Ellie asked me to help her find a mattress. She told me she wanted to purchase a good quality mattress without spending to much in order for her to get a great night sleep. I suggested that we visit several stores that are known to sell brand-name quality mattresses. After visiting three well-known retailers we decided to go back to the first store we stopped in. Mattress Firm located on 28 Street SE. When we arrived on our first visit to the Mattress Firm we noticed how nice the building and exterior parking area was well-kept. We also took note of how well the interior of the store was maintained and how they displayed their merchandise. As we entered the store a very nice gentleman (Dan) greeted us with his first name and a smile. He then welcomed us into the store. He asked for our names and how we were doing. He was sincere and personable! We told him we were shopping for a quality queen-size mattress for Ellie's new apartment. He told us was it nice meeting us and for the rest of the time we shopped he addressed us by our first names. As we walked around the store touching and lying down on mattresses we could see that Dan truly cared about Ellie finding the perfect mattress. We had many questions, sometimes asking the same question twice. We felt Dan took a personal interest in us and continued to treat us respectfully and pleasant even though we asked the same question several times. Dan's personality is unlike any other salesperson we met that evening. He had a great sense of humor and a sincere smile. Dan was extremely knowledgeable with every aspect of mattresses, box springs, mattress covers and pillows. He also made us aware of all the sales and promotions that were being offered so Ellie could get the best price possible. By the time we finished purchasing a mattress, box spring, mattress cover and several pillows Ellie and I felt we had made a new friend! Dan LaVoie did such a great job with Ellie that I went back the next day and purchased the same mattress and accessories for my home. Ellie and I will continue to refer family and friends to visit Dan at the...
Read moreWe recently purchased 2 sets of box springs and mattresses from Mattress Firm in Kentwood. We were told we would be called in the morning on the day of delivery in order to give us a more accurate time frame. I received a robo call this morning, informing me that delivery wouldn't be until sometime between 7:00 and 9:00pm. It asked me to confirm the time. Being early risers, I was not okay with such a late delivery. I contacted the store I purchased the beds from and told the sales person that the time was way too late and I wanted delivery during normal business hours. He seemed flustered and confused. After a couple phone calls back and forth with the store, he finally rescheduled for noon to 1:00pm in a couple of days. I returned home from work in the evening, put all the bedding back on the old beds that we had stripped off this morning and informed my husband about the new schedule. He reshuffled an appointment he had made for that time slot. After dinner we started getting ready for bed and I was stepping into the shower when quess who shows up. Yup... delivery people. They knew nothing about the rescheduled appointment. Back out of the shower, strip the bedding off again, etc. Mattress Firm might sell a decent bed, but their communication and customer service was appalling. Couldn't believe how badly they screwed this up and caused unnecessary...
