Since I'm in the midst of downsizing and I've finished wedding bouquets and decor for my five kids, I haven't been to the store in some time. I found the store in Tulsa c. 1978 and have been there many, many times since... but not lately. I had had a rather miserable day in a miserable week. But I had some leftover wedding picks that I had been carrying in my car for months that needed returned. The cashier and the supervisor were very courteous despite my not having a receipt. Since they still carried the pics, they took them back... when they really didn't have to. I had brought in an odd shaped picture done by my niece nearly 40 years ago, that had never been framed. With five kids money's always been tight. The lady in the frame shop treated me with the same respect as she would have a 'big spender'. She helped me find the perfect frame for the picture and helped me minimize the cost. I did some quick Christmas 'window-shopping' for my grandkids, grabbed a replacement stocking holder for my wife and checked out. While I was standing in line, I realized that my well-earned rotten mood was gone and that it had to do with the grace of God, being in a business that honors God, and visiting one of my most lifetime favorite stores. Thanks to the folks back in Oklahoma that founded Hobby Lobby and thanks to all of the kind and helpful ladies who helped me at the store here in Grand Rapids,...

I have used Hobby Lobbyās frame shop for years. I typically frame acrylics on canvas using their custom framing, matting and museum glass. I have literally spent thousands in frames. Recently the experience has been less than positive. They apparently have gone through a change in ownership in the frame shop. My first experience under new management was to tell me I shouldnāt put glass over my acrylic paintings. I disagreed. They did as I asked (but with attitude) and did a beautiful job. Today I went to have a piece custom framed and was told they can no longer mat canvas paintings. I asked why and received a bit snippy āthatās just what management has decidedā. What ever happened to the customer is always right? Especially when they arenāt arguing price! Guess Iāll find a new frame shop. Too bad. I would spend a lot of money in the store in addition to getting art framed. Guess Iāll spend it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst let me say I love the store and have had some really helpful staff in the past. However I feel I was profiled for my tattoos for the first time today trying make an exchange for an item with a missing a part. The item in question was $13. She said āhave you bought these beforeā, I replied āyesā. Then she said āIāve seen you return them before tooā⦠Nope. āWell I just recognized the tattoosā. I tell her I do a lot of DIY and come in often. Admittedly itās one of my favorite stores š . I say I feel like youāre trying to make something out of this, just trying to swap it out. I left with the exchange however the whole conversation and multiple employees coming over made me feel like I was doing something wrong, like I was thief. It was...
