Disappointing Experience at True Society
I recently visited True Society with my daughter to help her find her wedding dress, and unfortunately, the experience left all of us feeling disappointed and disheartened.
From the very beginning, the consultant assisting us showed very little interest in my daughter, her engagement, or her wedding. She didnât ask about the date, the venue, or any personal details that might help guide the appointmentâdetails that make this process feel special and tailored. My daughter had even submitted photos in advance of the dresses she was hoping to try, but when we arrived, none of those dresses had been pulled, and it seemed there was no record of what she had sent. It felt like we were just another appointment on the calendar, not real people shopping for one of the most important garments of a lifetime.
Our group was smallâjust four of usâbut we werenât offered a single refreshment. We watched other groups being served a variety of drinks while we were never even asked if weâd like a water. It may seem small, but in an environment meant to celebrate such a joyful moment, these details matter.
Perhaps most frustrating was that we clearly communicated a budget of $5,000, and nearly every dress pulled for my daughter to try was significantly over that. Ignoring someoneâs budget not only adds unnecessary stress to an already emotional process, but it also shows a lack of respect for their preferences and financial boundaries.
We had visited other bridal shops that treated our experience with care and enthusiasm. They made an effort to connect with my daughter and show genuine excitement for her big day. That kind of warmth and attention is exactly what you hope for when shopping for a wedding gown. Unfortunately, True Society missed the mark completely.
When someone chooses a bridal boutique, theyâre not just buying a dressâtheyâre trusting you with a piece of their story. Itâs about feeling seen, celebrated, and supported. For a store like True Society, where the stakes are so personal and emotional, creating a positive and personalized experience should be the standardânot the exception.
Sadly, we left feeling like an afterthought rather than a bride and her loved ones on a joyful search. I hope this feedback encourages the team at True Society to reflect on the importance of connection, attention to detail, and genuine care in every...
Read moreTrue Society was recommended by one of my clients and it immediately became my first choice for dress shopping. Compared to other shops I saw in Michigan, this seemed like it had the most extensive variety of styles and a lot of great brands I seemed to gravitate toward. After looking at their website (which was user friendly) and reading their reviews, I set my date and waited anxiously.
The store had reached out in advance to give me the opportunity to provide some resource images of dresses or styles I liked, and that came in great use at the appointment. Olivia was my attendant and she did an incredible job. We started with a few dresses I picked first to see about style and fit. To my surprise, the original style I thought was âthe oneâ was not! I was a little shocked but Olivia kept the ball rolling and fluidly moved to trying on something a little different until we did FIND THE ONE.
Olivia was so helpful, very fun and bright spirited. She obviously had great knowledge of her inventory and was super quick with setting up dresses and getting others out of the way. As we went through styles, she was very attentive to my likes and dislikes for designs and fabric feel. I immediately felt very cared for and comfortable.
The atmosphere in true society is bright and comfortable. The set up for trying on dresses is also so clever. My friend Aleece and my mom came with me dress shopping and they were very comfortable in their couches/seats outside of a stand alone dressing room that has a curtain. That way you can just hop up on their little pedestal and draw back the curtain to show them the potential matches. So neat and so much time saving. (Also the lighting in there is awesome and mirrors are flattering!)
I said YES to the dress and Iâm so glad I did it at...
Read moreIâm so happy to share that Iâm a True Bride! A few months back I had fallen âhead over heelsâ for a dress I saw online. I kept thinking about it, and had even stopped by to request a quote. Although I showed up with no appointment, Ashley was happy to assist. Iâm glad I stopped by because I had to get the dress shipped from another location. There was a $50 shipping fee, but they apply it to your dress if you say âYesâ to a dress at True Society! Once it arrived and my appointment rolled around, they had put it on the front most mannequin. So stunning! It definitely deserves its own moment. Paula was my bridal consultant that day and greeted me with a smile! I showed her other styles I gravitated towards and we worked on pulling them together. Ultimately, we tried on the dress I had said âYesâ to first, immediate tears! I tried on ~4 other dresses (although we knew I loved the first). Paula never rushed me and had let every dress have âits momentâ. She grabbed accessories for various dresses and was quick to âfluffâ trains when I asked if she could do a âtouch upâ. We decided to weâd try on my first again, and without prompting I said âYesâ myself. Every worker available gathered around and a sweet family nearby! There were so many cheers, tears and âcriesâ of happiness in that moment. It was my moment that was straight out of a movie scene. I said âYesâ over a week ago and canât stop looking at photos. When I see Paula in one she is smiling, just happy as can be! I can tell she loves what she does. Paula and True Society team, thank you for making me feel beautiful beyond comparison. Iâm so happy I got my âfinal roseâ with you. Iâll always cherish this moment, thank you x100,000. I miss this experience so much already, but am so excited for my dress...
