If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if sushi and Ketchum, Idaho had a love child, the answer is "Sushi on Second." This place takes sushi so seriously that even the mountains are in awe. Nestled in the heart of downtown Ketchum, Sushi on Second is the perfect spot for those who believe that fresh fish and good times go hand in hand.
Walking in, you’re greeted by a vibe so chill that even the wasabi seems to be on vacation. The decor is a clever mix of sleek modernity and rustic charm, which basically means you can look classy while trying not to spill soy sauce on your new fleece jacket.
Now, let’s talk about the sushi. The rolls here are so expertly crafted that I’m convinced they have a team of sushi wizards working tirelessly behind the scenes. The “Mr. Crunch” roll is a local favorite, and if it were a person, it would probably be the most popular guest at a party—bold, exciting, and just a little bit elusive. The fish is fresher than the mountain air and tastier than a sunrise over the Sawtooths.
And speaking of fantastic, let’s give a huge shoutout to Camille, the best waitress in town! She’s got a knack for making you feel like a VIP while effortlessly handling your endless requests. Camille’s recommendations are always spot-on, and her warm, friendly service ensures that every visit feels like a celebration.
In conclusion, if you’re in Ketchum and craving sushi that will make you do a happy dance in your seat, Sushi on Second is your go-to. It’s so good that even the moose might consider trading in their antlers for chopsticks. And with Camille on your team, your sushi experience will be nothing short...
Read moreFantastic quality fish. As they advertise, their fish quality and freshness are excellent. We had one of their special rolls, the "Walla Walla," plain ahi roll, plain sake roll, cajun calamari, sake nigiri, and poke salad.
The poke salad was the best I've ever had ... the quality of ahi and the seasoning for that dish was phenomenal, as was the combo of fresh beets, seaweed salad, and other veggies in that dish.
While the seasoning and prep of the spicy calamari wasn't my favorite (nor was it spicy at all), the quality of the calamari was outstanding. The rolls were ok (again, the quality of the fish in everything was top-notch).
We're looking forward to returning soon, and I will stick with their nigiri to emphasize the outstanding fish quality and bypass rolls.
Overall, I'm really pleased and highly...
Read moreI walked into this restaurant and thought it was a beautiful and very friendly local sushi spot. i was mistaken. we began eating. I asked for extra ginger and wasabi like I do at every sushi restaurant I go to. the waitress stuck her hand up at me and refused to give me the extra ginger. I then got my bill and left a 10% tip Due to the poor service. The manager then chased me out of the restaurant and said for me to never come back to the restaurant and that they will not serve me again. I then called the restaurant and the manager told me "That's just how we do service here." I do not recommend this place to anybody that isn't a local as they treat the tourists...
