Do yourself a favor and eat here. It is a small place with a few chairs along the wall to eat at a tiny wall table- but who cares about that when you have amazing food. Get it. Eat it in your room. Sit on the sidewalk. Do whatever floats your boat but go here! Sadly we ate here the morning we left and I am depressed I cannot enjoy it again anytime soon!
We ate breakfast at another location because it was hot and we wanted to sit inside at a table to eat. Big mistake. We waited almost an hour to be seated and even though the other restaurant had great reviews, it was mediocre. Nothing blew me away. We should have sat on the ground, sweating and enjoying our food froM here- we would have been so much happier.
Okay- I'll stop trying to convince you to try this place and get on with my review. I walked here after placing an online order. I then got my order and took it back to our room. I ordered the BEST THING ON THE MENU- the HOMEMADE chorizo breakfast burrito. GET THIS. My husband got the avocado toast and loved it. My son got the bacon egg and cheese sandwich and loved it also.
My burrito and the avocado toast came with a green salsa (salsa verde). It was amazing and I wish I had more of it. Get more of it! It is not spicy but adds so much flavor. You can tell this food is made fresh and with heart.
I ordered the cantaloupe/orange juice combo and it was so tasty. My son and I don't like plain orange juice- but we both loved this. My husband had a cafe con leche (milk espresso) and I got an iced espresso (with cream and sugar). The lady that owns the place was taking orders and making the coffees. She was so nice and accommodating with everyone she served. I can tell she puts her heart into her work daily. If I lived here- they would know my name. Highly recommend you give this place a go- even if you have to eat on the fly-...
Read moreMy friends and I were looking for place to recover from a night of good times. Key West Cuban Coffee looked to be the perfect place to overcome a hangover.
Located in the middle of Key West near Duval, it was pretty easy to get to. We rode rented bikes and locked them up at the nearby rack. From there it was a short walk to get inside and seat ourselves in the quaint space. The staff was very attentive to our needs and got us started quickly.
The menu has a ton of options for every palate with everything from breakfast burritos to traditional tacos and churrasco. After deliberation among the group, we decided to try a variety of Cuban coffee from cortadas to iced black coffee and a caramel latte. They all exceeded expectations.
As for the fare itself, we started with an order of ham croquettes (also amazing) before ordering entrees. I chose the Ropa Vieja plate pictured alongside the review. Portions were amazing, and value was pretty good at around $18 at the time of this review. Honestly, it was one of the best meals I've had in recent memory. The beef was perfectly savory, and the tomatillo salsa was particularly great as well mixed with the rice. I loved the plantains too.
All in all, I can't recommend this place more. If you have the time, this is a must-see restaurant in Key West and the perfect place to get your day started...
Read moreChose this spot for lunch based on the reviews for coffee and because they had a Cuban on the menu plus fajitas for my spouse. We finished disappointed. The service was less than lackluster. The waitress didn't speak much and never smiled or looked happy to be there. We ordered chicken fajitas - good portion of meat, but came with ONE small tortilla and no toppings, just rice! No pico, no lettuce, cheese, guac, nothing. We had to ask for another tortilla. Spouse reported the taste as very bland and nothing special. Also ordered the mojo pulled pork sandwich (basically a Cuban without ham) and it was tasty. A bit over pressed (basically a crisp instead of roll) but still tasted good. I added fries for a $3 upcharge and they ended up being two different types of fries mixed. My coffee was probably the biggest disappointment. The coffee wasn't freshly made for the latte, it was poured out of a jug. I ordered the caramel, cinnamon latte not realizing that each add in was another $1 plus I asked for almond milk which I expected an upcharge for. As a coffee connoisseur, this one sucked. 🤷🏻♀️ Not strong, nor flavorful and at $9 (!!!!!!!!) I was utterly disappointed. Finally, the table rocked the whole meal and it...
