Adding to my review from last year as we stayed again:
Writing so that there can be improvement. We stayed at a 3/2 with Deconova Vacations and this review is not about our unit but more so the property.
We have stayed at Storey Lake twice now. Things appear great at first glance but under the surface there are some things the property managers should address: The bridge to the NE side of the main pool area still has some missing wood planks and is a safety hazard for younger children with small feet who could easily step into the holes on the bridges. These apparently were unfixed since last year when we stayed (our kids remembered). There are presumably electrical type boxes around the condo buildings that do not have a cover/lid and have wire exposed. There's a good amount of trash around the shores of the lakes. Okay, small thing but an easy fix: the basketball hoop net was missing for our entire 9 night stay. This can be ordered from Amazon for a few dollars and easily replaced. It tells me that the management is not keeping a close eye on the details. It matters because the ball comes out at odd angles without a net. Inconsistent activities and activity schedule at the main pool house. We noticed less announced activities than last year. Our kids like this and it adds icing on the cake making Storey Lake excel if they do it correctly. Lastly, and again this could be a relatively easy fix - there is no light for evening basketball or volleyball. Take Storey to the next level and install some larger lights for evening play after sunset.
Overall, we like Storey Lake - nice scenery, nice pool complexes and the actual pool areas are well cared for. I can tell that management is just keeping it's head above water though on the main things (which is good) but if they would invest more time and some money to some details, this place would be a 5/5.
Maybe next year, we'll see some changes. :)
Original review from last year: Stayed a week at Storey Lake condo unit 208 through Deconova Vacations. Really recommend Storey Lake. A couple small things: mini golf is way overpriced at the resort pool area. The basketball hoop area has no light for evening play. Our unit needed hooks in the bathrooms to hang swim suits, towels, etc. Would stay at...
Read moreI posted one review for the vacation homes side where our friends were staying (I will add it here as well), but we had one of the apartments on the other side. The unit was small, but clean and well furnished. We were on the first floor. The only issue i noticed - sometimes there is an endless line at the gate. On our first night there we waited 25 min in that line.
FAMILY FRIENDLY, NEW HEATED SWIMMING POOL.
rate it 4.8 (read Cons)
PROS: nicely decored 3 bedroom 2 full baths very spacious, filtered water available from fridge is great, essentials of a household items are in the vacation rental home. New heated swimming pool is great, the lazyriver isn't heated though. 15 min to Disney, 30 min to Universal, 20 min to Discovery Cove, 1 hour to Kennedy Space Center. Price is reasonably cheap compared to other resorts that are very old.
CONS: hot water doesn't last 2 showers, so waiting 1 hour between showers. The dishwasher was alittle moldy and wasn't working at first, but the handyman visited and fixed it. The washer and dryer are super loud. The gate pass paper barcode is quite difficult to get it just right to open. There is a line to get into the resort during rush hour with new visitors to obtain the gate pass. They should send the gate pass bar code by text, so you don't have to hassle with visiting the...
