Overall it was fantastic. It is a nice community accessible to lots of Orlando attractions. The pool and water park area were nice with a small covered area. The bridges across the ponds were a fun way to walk around the community. My extended family group of 17 had a great time and the house we stayed in was very spacious. A few things we didn’t like: the trash pick up is just everyone putting their garbage bags out under a tree out front. There was then food remnants and trash in the yard including chicken bones that my dogs found numerous times. This just seemed a little gross to me to have trash out all day everyday. -I was disappointed that there were no recycling facilities for a community this big the pool area was too small. After noon during the weekdays in the summer, the pool and lazy river were packed. -the first day we were there our kids pulled out small snack bags of snacks at the water park without us realizing that outside food wasn’t allowed (the print on the front sign is small) and a female worker came up to us and literally yelled at me and the kids “you need to throw that out or get out”. I politely said “we are leaving anyway”. There were lots of different ways she could have educated us on the food policy. We saw numerous adults in the pool with drinks on numerous occasions and babies in the pool in non-swim diapers which seems like a bigger deal than my kids eating a small snack. The girls at the pier were super nice on the other hand. -there was a sign at the water slide pretty much every morning till 11 am that said “closed for inclement weather” when there was not a storm anywhere nearby. When I asked the front desk they said they didn’t have a lifeguard and didn’t know when a lifeguard would be on duty. If the water park opens at 9, I think the lifeguard should be there at 9. If the lifeguard can’t be there , the sign should more accurately state “closed due to no lifeguard on duty”. I do think there should be at least 2 more lifeguards on duty. (One day we found a 2 year old crying in the pool with swimmies on with no parent in sight and we had to search for a parent.) There should have been at least one lifeguard at the pool and another at the top of the slide. (We stayed at The Grove recently and there were numerous lifeguards at the pool , water slides and...
Read moreI really dislike needing to give 2 stars, but it is necessary. The arrival was great, check in easy, house clean, pool clean, bathrooms clean, and the water park was terrific. There were two primary issues. AC was set at 70°, and the house was at 76° upon arrival, which was Sunday. I let the management office know and they said they would send someone to look at it and fix it. The repair people arrived the next day as we were leaving to go to Disney park. Upon return the house was 70° inside and much better. However, from the day the ac was "repaired" up until Friday, the temperature in the house slowly increased to 81°. So from Monday afternoon until Friday morning, the temperature in the house slowly increased to 81°. During the stay the doors were hardly opened and closed due to being away from the house at Disney parks and the water park. I let the management office know about the uncomfortable temperature and the ac system constantly trying to cool the house down and it would not. On Friday afternoon they sent a man with a thermometer to aim at the vents and found the temperature coming out was 77°. I was told they would send someone to fix the ac before we left and the repair men never showed. We slept in a home in 81°. HIGHLY uncomfortable and unsatisfactory. It was humid and very warm. Unsatisfactory that they did not send repair men back to fix the ac so we could enjoy our last night in the home. the dryer would only dry in timed dry. it would not dry on any other setting. the dryer also left an odd odor on our clothes. While it was a lovely home overall, the lack of ac was unacceptable and lack of response to repair it so the house would be comfortable was also highly unsatisfactory. I may or may not recommend this place due to the ac and dryer inconvenience. I feel we should be refunded some money for the ac inconvenience, but I doubt that will happen. Use this place at your discretion. Hopefully your AC and...
Read moreWriting so that there can be improvement. We stayed at a 3/2 with Deconova Vacations and this review is not about our unit but more so the property.
We have stayed at Storey Lake twice now. Things appear great at first glance but under the surface there are some things the property managers should address: The bridge to the NE side of the main pool area still has some missing wood planks and is a safety hazard for younger children with small feet who could easily step into the holes on the bridges. These apparently were unfixed since last year when we stayed (our kids remembered). There are presumably electrical type boxes around the condo buildings that do not have a cover/lid and have wire exposed. There's a good amount of trash around the shores of the lakes. Okay, small thing but an easy fix: the basketball hoop net was missing for our entire 9 night stay. This can be ordered from Amazon for a few dollars and easily replaced. It tells me that the management is not keeping a close eye on the details. It matters because the ball comes out at odd angles without a net. Inconsistent activities and activity schedule at the main pool house. We noticed less announced activities than last year. Our kids like this and it adds icing on the cake making Storey Lake excel if they do it correctly. Lastly, and again this could be a relatively easy fix - there is no light for evening basketball or volleyball. Take Storey to the next level and install some larger lights for evening play after sunset.
Overall, we like Storey Lake - nice scenery, nice pool complexes and the actual pool areas are well cared for. I can tell that management is just keeping it's head above water though on the main things (which is good) but if they would invest more time and some money to some details, this place would be a 5/5.
Maybe next year, we'll see...
