I really wanted to like this place, especially after the glowing reviews. First, the positives: the location is quiet and convenient to Purdue. The grounds themselves are green and lovely. The common area (lobby / breakfast area) is clean and modern and cozy, and was great for doing remote work in the afternoons. There are laundry facilities and a (very small) gym. Front desk staff were friendly. The “apartment style” room layout is a bit unusual, but had neutral impact. The room itself (2Q 1-bedroom fireplace suite) was spacious. Heating and cooling was very effective (although very loud and not very subtle - cooling the room a few degrees consisted of a 2-minute arctic blast followed by a complete shut-off).
Now for everything else: upon check-in, we asked for a luggage cart to transport all of our things to the room. Staff seemed confused as to whether such a thing existed (apparently not). While our room was clean and appeared nice at first glance, it was very dated. Edging was peeling off the dilapidated kitchen cabinets, there was a second microwave on the counter because the built-in microwave was non-functional. The advertised fireplace was non-functional and pretty scary looking. The HVAC unit was in a utility closet in the bathroom. The door to it had no handle, but had a lock that was unlocked (so the door stood ajar - a hazard if you have small kids). We were on the ground floor with an occupied room above us. The people above were generally quiet, but every time they took a step the floor/ceiling creaked and groaned so loud it sounded like they were going to come through the ceiling at any moment.
Breakfast sounds good on paper but somehow managed to be terrible. Each morning had a variation on eggs, potatoes, and meat. The eggs looked very dry and completely overcooked, whereas the hash browns looked basically raw. Sausage didn’t look too appetizing. They had a waffle station, which I usually enjoy, but there were a few issues. Batter was offered in plain and flavored (strawberry or chocolate) - the flavored ones were just gross, and the spigot on the plain batter flew off in my hand when I tried to use it, splattering batter all over the table, me, and everyone else. A wide array of waffle technicolor toppings were offered: squeeze bottles of artificial key lime syrup, mango sauce, “chocolate” sauce, etc, plus a bucket of rainbow sprinkles and a bucket of chocolate chips that had bloomed and stuck together and looked about a year old. All of these toppings sit out (uncovered) 24hrs. No thank you. I thought instead I’d have a bowl of granola and yogurt, but the only yogurt offered was yoplait strawberry or peach - would have appreciated an option of vanilla or plain. Bread offerings consisted of a few slices of bread and 2 bagels. Fruit each day was syrupy canned fruit cocktail that my kids didn’t even recognize as fruit, and a bowl of oranges. Pre-made oatmeal was provided but was so thick you could have served it in a mound on a plate. Orange juice was sour. Any and all of these breakfast offerings would normally have been great, had they been better prepared or better quality.
In our way out we looked for an ice machine to fill our large cooler, but there is none.
Overall, it’s a perfectly fine option for a quick stop on your way through, and provides plenty of room to spread out, but it’s nowhere near the quality I expect from a Homewood suites (normally one of our top choices when traveling...
Read moreThis hotel(Motel) needs to be rebranded as the “HOMELESS SUITES” . Rooms smell like Cigarettes, Housekeeping does a terrible job cleaning ,stained towels in the room that also smell like smoke, spider webs on the ceiling. But luckily for them still recieved my business being that i’m here for work and every other hotel in the area is booked up . I didn’t intend to leave even a review after all this but today was icing on the cake , I went to the laundry room to wash laundry mind you both washers and dryers were open i wash my clothing , than put in dryer I leave for 20 mins to my room which is my fault ok, I come back my belongings are gone i go to to the front desk to see if they know anything and the OBESE lady working the front desk with glasses who claims she is the manager under the Gm ,for one can not handle a disgruntled customer infromed me that a guest that’s been living at the property for months had complained to her as well that his stuff was taken from the washer but just thrown all over the floor which i Don’t care not to be rude but that does not solve my issue of my stuff being missing . So i asked her to call the gentleman and ask if maybe my stuff had been mistakenly mixed all she could say is i don’t know what room he is in nor do i think he took your stuff . Well that’s another red flag you to mean to tell me A) you know the guest and B) don’t know the room of the guest that’s been doing business with you for months what a joke . Furthermore she gets mad cuz i’m mad and threatens to call the police because I’m swearing and pissed my stuff is gone I didn’t threaten her well being nor damage anything at the hotel . I’ve never had these problems at any other hilton i’ve stayed at . If i could give this extended stay...
Read moreI was hoping not to write this review but with no response from management I feel this is the only way we stayed overnight on the 23rd of August room 333||So we arrived the hotel after driving 12 hours from NC, tired and exhausted we encountered a wonderful front desk agent. She went over everything with us and how to get to our room. We opted to go get food before settling in as this was our midpoint overnight stop.||We got back it's around 11pm from eating, get everything plugged in and get halfway through the showering before we noticed the black mold on the ceiling and not only the hard water build up but the rust on the shower head.||With is being so late and us leaving first thing in the morning and needing rest we opted not to play musical rooms at 12am after driving 12 hours and being awake for longer. I sent a message to the front desk via the app and a while later the front desk stated someone would be in touch Monday. We also mentioned it when we left in the morning and was told the same thing.||Well here we are on Friday with no call as promised from management. I'm hoping someone will reach out and provide adequate...
