I'm very disappointed. We are very Marriott loyal due to their reward program. However, that is changing. Due to this experience we decided that our next trip will be with another hotel (first time in 10 years).
When we arrived, we waited 30 minutes to check in. There was no one at the front desk. We knocked on the door behind the counter, and no one answered. We were very tired and were there for a family funeral so just wanted to relax.
There was a storm coming in, so we decided to ear at the Bistro. We went to the counter, and we were informed that the Bistro only had maybe three things available on their menu. So we decided to go get something and bring it back. We did not get a drink because we decided to drink from their bar. So, with a downpour of rain, we left to get something and bring it back.
When we returned, the manager told us we could not eat at the tables since we did not order a meal from them. We had to sit in the lounge chairs and use the coffee tables to eat. I explained that we only had three choices on their menu. He stated that we would not be allowed to eat McDonalds at a Taco Bell. Well, I am not sure. I have never been to a food establishment that only served less than a 10th of their posted menu.
Then he told me that they had been sued for someone getting ill off of another restaurants meal while eating it in their Bistro... really?
So we ate in the lounge area where the manager decided to take his break and watch some show on the business center computers, right next to us, really loud.
We then ordered from the bar; however, the beer that my husband ordered (that was clearly advertised as being served there) was not available. It was just another hit.
Look, I am not one that complains, and I may agree that the circumstances of the family funeral and the very long travel from Texas may have made me a little more upset than usual. But we have never been treated like that at a Marriott. We are titanium members, so we have stayed in a lot of Marriotts.
I would definitely not...
Read moreWe came to Lafayette from Arizona for my nephew’s wedding. What should have been a lovely, fun-filled experience went so wrong. First, the family was notified just a few hours prior to the rehearsal that the wedding planner had been fired that day. Hotel management had no contingency plan in place, and as a matter of fact, only considered other resources when the family pressed for contingencies. The next morning (the wedding day), it was all hands on deck with family members (including the bride, who should not have had to deal with anything like this on her wedding day) jumping in to decorate tables. There was a banquet manager by the name of Kim, who we thought was the back-up, who was incredibly rude and short with anyone who approached her. They were short several tables and chairs (that did finally show up), and we had to ask for the items to be placed as they were on the original plan.
We moved on from there, and made the best of the day. The wedding was lovely, thanks to so many friends and family jumping in to make things happen. As dinner was served, I took a bite of the mashed potatoes and pulled a long hair out of my potatoes. My sister was mortified (though thankful it was me and not another guest) and immediately brought it to Lisa’s attention (another banquet employee of the hotel). Lisa told her “These things happen, and we’ll replace the potatoes.” 😳🤢
To top it off, there was an intake or water heater or some kind of grating in our room that made the most awful noise 24/7. Neither my husband or I was able to sleep either night. When I asked if they could put us in a different room, they said they didn’t have any other rooms available. Sorry, Marriott, you missed the mark by a mile this time around with regards to service.
Service issues aside, the facility itself is lovely, clean, well-maintained and the room was comfortable (loud intake thing...
Read moreMy sister had her wedding at this hotel. Seeing that we come from a large family, it was exciting for all of us because she was the first to have a big wedding. Imagine the disappointment I faced when I drove from my home in Alabama to Indiana, to see that her wedding had become a train wreck due to the lack of professionalism and readiness at this hotel. The wedding planner was reportedly fired from the hotel mere days before the wedding, and by mere I mean TWO or THREE days before. Because of this the hotel was not in the loop of what my sister wanted for her day and the things that were promised to her by the wedding planner. We arrived to the sight the Friday of rehearsal and nothing was prepared. From what I understand, no one knew why we were even there. We were not allowed to prepare for the wedding in any way other than the DAY OF the wedding on Sunday. We put the decorations together ourselves and had to repeatedly tell all of the staff what was needing to be done. I don’t remember the names of the three women that helped, but I do remember Lisa and I will applaud her for doing the best that she could for us along with the other two. I understand that not everyone involved that day typically puts together weddings, but with the amount of money spent at this hotel I expected much, much better. My sister’s day was ruined, and on day one the majority of the staff present were rude. As a Marriott hotel I expected much better and a much higher performance from this hotel. We will not be recommending this hotel to any of our friends or family in Lafayette. Maybe, just maybe, this will actually get a response from corporate as still no one has communicated with my sister in regards to the disaster that was her wedding day, even after her many attempts.
Props to the kitchen...
