Took a position in Lake Charles and needed somewhere to stay while apartment shopping. I checked in on a Saturday on the first floor(#124) a hotel with a tax of almost 16%. First was the false advertisement of WiFi, in order to have decent WiFi they wanted you to pay for it. The room came with no equipment to utilize the kitchenette another up charge. A room with no iron or ironing board something you must request and hope they have in stock. Immediately after staying I started experiencing small bite marks which I thought maybe it was an ant since I saw two in the bed when I checked in. After cleaning bed these bite marks continue throughout the week on my chest, neck, legs, arms and back. After notifying the staff my cousin was told my room would be switched(11:04am). After a twelve hour day of training I returned to the hotel and no one followed up or made any changes to our room. I proceeded to go to the front desk to communicate the issue and the friendly front office who was unaware of my issues decided to change my room. The first room that I was changed to had a non working Tv, the 2nd, 3rd,4th and 5th room all had roaches and reeking of old man cigarettes. All night we played musical rooms. It was too late in the evening to find a new hotel and I had to be up early for training over an hour away. The young lady recognized my bites in my body and felt bad and wanted to find me a clean room. After finally locating a room without roaches I settled on a room on the 4th floor by 10pm. A room that had shower curtain so brown from all the dirt and soap scum I had to request a new one. I have missed dinner my constant moving caused my grocery items to fall and eggs breaking. I misplaced a pair of shoes in one of the rooms in a hurry to move out of the roach infested room. After all that ordeal I informed the front desk instead of extending my stay another week a $427 discounted cost I would need to speak to a manager. I was not contacted but informed the next day that I needed to pay for the day after 11am. The team was informed I would make no further payments or depart until a member of the management team contacts me. After a delay and relays of message to the front desk team by the manager offering me $3 off each night I stayed as a “manager special” was the only remedy the manager Julia could offer with an apology. Although she may have felt it was sufficient enough I feel more could be done. After returning to the hotel I opted to pay the discounted $3 off rate because I had stayed past the checkout time and will not be returning in the future. I am disappointed and furious with the condition and what I had to endure for a $3 reduction. The value of my bites and inconvenience. I am only giving one star for feeling sorry for the pregnant front office who was back and forth trying to find a non roach infested room on...
Read moreI had an incident that made me more angry than I've been in a very long time. I got a note on my door with about an hour before AC service and cleaning. I asked the front desk NOT to come in my room if I wasn't going to be there.
They said ok and check with the maintenance guy. A short guy with a bushy pony tail assured me of my security staring (2) guys do a room when it's occupied and nobody is present. One guy stands out side with the door propped so security cams can view both people at all times.
I hesitantly was not ok with it but gave my verbal aggreance to enter my room. He said it would just take a few minutes and assured me of no issues.
Well, I'll be absolutely besides myself if I didn't return to my room later that evening only to find that my room had been left open with the slide latch propping the door. I immediately called the front desk and Alaina had answered. I couldn't have been more upset. This is absolutely NOT OK!!!!
I tried to speak with the manager early the next morning and she was not available.
First thing I noticed upon checking in my room were at least 5 roaches. Next was a loud family next door to my room that was made well aware of by multiple people. 3 kids an older woman and a younger woman. Constant banging, yelling screaming and pounding on gawd knows what.
On my last night at the motel there were a group of Hispanic tenants that had been drinking on the side of the property since early afternoon. With music, open containers, dancing and visibly intoxicated. We'll about 3 am it finally has escalated into an all out brawl with one of the men being beaten within an inch of his life. Multiple Hispanics were kicking him over and over to his head and he was left completely unconscious.
11 police cars finally arrived and had 15 persons in handcuffs.
If this is the way to run a respectful business than maybe corporate might want to take a look at the property as a whole. My entire experience of the place was pathetic and I left asking myself how bad could a place get?
One bright spot in the entire experience was the interest that Alaina(not sure of name or spelling) she was very caring and sympathetic and tried to rectify the misery of my stay. Thank you for that.
However, this was completely unacceptable to have my room left open by a staff member. After confronting him during the Hispanic brawl. He commented that he didn't do it. Well, buddy you did do it and I hope you lose your job over it. I will...
Read moreThe first room I got to smelled of dog urine. It smelled as if the room was not cleaned thoroughly. The stove was sticky and looked dirty as well. Initially, I wanted to leave and find somewhere else to stay. The only reason I did not was because I knew I would be charged anyway. I am aware it is a pet friendly facility, however, it doesn’t mean it should not be kept up. I asked to be switched to another room and I was which was cleaner but wasn’t the end of my issues. There aren’t enough towels placed in the rooms. To only have 4 towels (2 small, 2 large) for a 4 day stay, unfortunate. I needed clean linens the next day of my stay and had to wait until 10am just to notify someone. When I asked about housekeeping bringing more linens and towels, I was told that I had to bring my old sheets down and towels and pick up a new set. Meaning, I had to fix the bed myself. At no point during my stay, is housekeeping avaliable to clean the room for you or simply empty trash, replace toilet paper, etc. When I needed to contact the front desk, at 10am on Saturday, I had to use my personal cell phone. The phone in my room did not work. It was the first thing I mentioned when I spoke to the front desk and they completely ignored it. I guess since I only had two days left in my stay, I shouldn’t have needed anything or if I did, I could use my own cell phone. It is also very frustrating to be expected to clean your own room, make your own bed, get your own towels, and bring anything used down to the front desk BUT be continuously woken up throughout my stay by housekeeping yelling in the hall and banging on doors. So housekeeping does exist, but only after checking out. To say that the hotel is new, the inside does not look it. The elevator is extremely dirty and signs are broken and falling apart. To have “suites” in the name of this hotel is false advertising. The rooms are very small, the beds are small, there’s isn’t even an iron in the room. Bare minimum things that are met at every standard hotel is not thought of here, and it’s advertised as suites and luxury. Overall, it was a terrible experience to me. Had it been cheaper, I would have understood but I plan to stay far away from this place...
