Spark by Hilton Woodbridge — Hotel in Lake Ridge

I’ve stayed at a Spark before and have realistic expectations about the brand’s basic accommodations. The hotel is located not far off I-95 and offers easy highway access. The room was clean and nicer than expected, though we were surprised to see a few small bathroom fixtures already broken considering the property was just renovated as part of the Spark conversion. Channels like CBS and NBC didn’t work, and some other channels had picture quality issues. The breakfast had a better variety than anticipated, considering Spark’s somewhat limited offerings.||Beyond the room, the Spark lacked in a handful of areas. One thing we noticed right off the bat was anywhere we were on the property, whether it be the parking lot or interior hallways, smelled strongly of an herbal smoke. The side door key reader didn’t work for us, and we saw several other guests experience similar issues. We arrived very late at night and chose a specific room on the Hilton app so we could easily unload our car from the side door; after a long night of driving, this was the last thing we wanted to encounter. It’s also worth mentioning that in the 10 minutes we spent unloading our belongings into the lobby and running bags to the room, the gentleman working the front desk didn’t acknowledge us beyond “have a good night” on our final run; it almost seemed harder to ignore us. We arrived at the hotel yesterday. We received our keys and proceeded to our room 403. Upon opening the door, we found the floor of the room uncleaned and an empty packet of Newport cigarettes on the floor. My wife and kids never wanted to stay in the room but I said to them to wait in the room and I will proceed to reception and see what they will say. ||I found a lady and I told her what happened. She said the house keeping have all gone home. No one was available to clean the room. I told her that this was totally unacceptable and something has to be done. Someone else came out and said to me don’t worry we will give you a good discount. I said to him that I need my comfort and not discount and walked away. ||We managed in the room and whiles leaving the hotel this morning, we again complained to the reception and they promised that the room will be cleaned. ||We arrived back to the hotel by 1530pm but nothing was cleaned. The dirt was still on the floor and packet of cigarette still remained in the same place. They had also not cleaned the room nor made the beds. ||I went back to the reception and complained again and she said ok let me give you guys a suite. Again I told her that I don’t need a suite. This hotel plus the management are really terrible. ||Regarding the breakfast which is included in the price, they said they will close the buffet at 9.30am. The hotel is brand new everything was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. We stayed for three nights and had an excellent experience. The staff was absolutely amazing, and the hotel manager deserves special recognition for truly caring about both guests and the team. I work in the hospitality industry and travel frequently, so I really appreciate when service stands out and in this case, it certainly did. The level of professionalism and attention to detail from the entire team was impressive. We didn’t encounter a single issue during our stay. The location is one of the best convenient, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and gas stations nearby. The hotel staff was always ready to assist with anything we needed, any time of day or night. Everything was spotless at all times. Special thanks to the housekeeping team, they cleaned the rooms and common areas thoroughly every day, constantly wiping down surfaces and making sure even the smallest details were taken care of. We’re already planning to return to this city and will definitely stay at this hotel again.
