I made a mistake and forgot my work credit card this evening. The guy at the front desk was nice and answered a few questions I had about getting the card charged without actually having it. Unfortunately, the short, older lady next to him shook her head and rolled her eyes at everything he said, multiple times, while she was on the phone with another customer. So when he completed my check-in, I asked her if she was a manager and she said she was. Okay, so I tried to verify with her that I would be able to checkout in the manner that he indicated I could, because she had shaken her head when he was talking. I don't need charge card issues when on company travel. She immediately started to argue about which time she had shaken her head. I felt nothing good coming from this road we were about to travel down, so I caught myself in an attempt to avoid a meaningless argument, took a deep breath and turned to the guy with a final question.
As I walked away, the manager, in a really rude and condescending voice said that actually she didn't 'technically' need to accept payment the way we had all agreed upon. This time, not quite catching myself fully, I asked if there was a problem at which point she was even more rude and argumentative, apparently hurt that I had turned away from her to ask the guy my final question. I explained that I was just trying to not argue and I thanked them and headed to my room.
After I got into my room, I realized that I wasn't comfortable staying there, passing by the front desk just to see her scowl at me for the next couple of days, so I decided to spend my money elsewhere. The guy at the desk was still there and cancelled me out very kindly.
As for the lady, she had contradicted and rolled her eyes towards a new employee in front of a customer, aggressively berated a customer who had made a simple mistake and was only seeking help in finding a resolution, and made them feel so uncomfortable that they were unwilling to stay there. It's a hotel, comfort is their business.
I'd recommend finding a new manager, for the benefit of both the employees and the customers. I know I wouldn't want to work for her.
The next place I stopped by was super nice and helpful. I'm in a room that is comfy and quiet and I can now look forward to passing by the front desk and smiling at the kind...

Read moreI have always considered myself a Choice Hotel Preferred member for life. However, after traveling to numerous states and experiencing terrible customer service and filthy rooms, I decided to try a different hotel chain. Very impressed with the level of customer service at this Holiday Inn. From the beginning to the end of our visit the staff was courteous and professional. In addition, I appreciate the front desk staff receiving and signing for numerous packages when I was away from my room. The Positives: *Friendly customer service *Clean rooms Spacious parking lot *Located within miles of shopping and restaurants *The janitorial staff was excellent at keeping the lobby and surrounding areas clean.
The Negatives: *Complimentary breakfast has been removed. Instead the hotel wants you to purchase your meals from the restaurant (adjacent to the hotel). This would not be an issue except for the fact the food at the restaurant was terrible. We purchased food on two separate occasions and we could not stomach anything.
*We did not use the unsanitary liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner located in the room. Even if a lock is on those bottles, I know what people are capable of doing to those containers.
Overall, a positive experience with this hotel.
October 9th- Response to the manager: Thank you for responding to my review. However, I've stayed at numerous Holiday Inn locations in Ohio, Michigan, and Tennessee. Each of these locations offered complimentary breakfast- no matter what package. Spending $800.00+ for my hotel room seems to be more than basic. Maybe it just depends on ownership.
In reference to the hotel restaurant: the staff should be well aware of what we ordered because we sent...
