I have always considered myself a Choice Hotel Preferred member for life. However, after traveling to numerous states and experiencing terrible customer service and filthy rooms, I decided to try a different hotel chain. Very impressed with the level of customer service at this Holiday Inn. From the beginning to the end of our visit the staff was courteous and professional. In addition, I appreciate the front desk staff receiving and signing for numerous packages when I was away from my room. The Positives: *Friendly customer service *Clean rooms * Spacious parking lot *Located within miles of shopping and restaurants *The janitorial staff was excellent at keeping the lobby and surrounding areas clean. The Negatives: *Complimentary breakfast has been removed. Instead the hotel wants you to purchase your meals from the restaurant (adjacent to the hotel). This would not be an issue except for the fact the food at the restaurant was terrible. We purchased food on two separate occasions and we could not stomach anything. *We did not use the unsanitary liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner located in the room. Even if a lock is on those bottles, I know what people are capable of doing to those containers. Overall, a positive experience with this hotel. October 9th- Response to the manager: Thank you for responding to my review. However, I've stayed at numerous Holiday Inn locations in Ohio, Michigan, and Tennessee. Each of these locations offered complimentary breakfast- no matter what package. Spending $800.00+ for my hotel room seems to be more than basic. Maybe it just depends on ownership. In reference to the hotel restaurant: the staff should be well aware of what we ordered because we sent it back twice.

I have stayed here many times over the years as it is a good location to visiting family. There is a gym, business lounge, outdoor pool and a restaurant. This time wasn't the greatest of stays, maybe just due to a combination of things. Vent in bathroom didn't work so bathroom was very steamy after showers. Fridge had no settings I could change so it was barely cool. No extra bedding provided for the pull-out couch (had to go to front desk and ask for some) and then found a huge dog bone underneath. We've usually been provided breakfast vouchers in the past but didn't receive any this visit. We were booked for 4 nights stay but left after 2. Again, hoping that this was just a fluke stay as before it has been very nice. Ask for a south facing room unless highway traffic noise doesn't bother you.

We booked because of all the recent good reviews. Sad to report we did not share that kind of experience. When we arrived, the front desk worker was short with us and was not friendly at all. We then went to our room. Upon opening the door, we were hit with a musty odor and smell of urine. I always check the bed over for signs of bedbugs in any hotel we stay in. During this process, I saw small stains and tears on the bedding, and then I saw the mattress — also stained. The sofa in the room is also disgusting, and the bathroom sink was cracked. We immediately checked out and left. The front desk worker said we would be refunded. Hopefully so.

I made a mistake and forgot my work credit card this evening. The guy at the front desk was nice and answered a few questions I had about getting the card charged without actually having it. Unfortunately, the short, older lady next to him shook her head and rolled her eyes at everything he said, multiple times, while she was on the phone with another customer. So when he completed my check-in, I asked her if she was a manager and she said she was. Okay, so I tried to verify with her that I would be able to checkout in the manner that he indicated I could, because she had shaken her head when he was talking. I don't need charge card issues when on company travel. She immediately started to argue about which time she had shaken her head. I felt nothing good coming from this road we were about to travel down, so I caught myself in an attempt to avoid a meaningless argument, took a deep breath and turned to the guy with a final question.

As I walked away, the manager, in a really rude and condescending voice said that actually she didn't 'technically' need to accept payment the way we had all agreed upon. This time, not quite catching myself fully, I asked if there was a problem at which point she was even more rude and argumentative, apparently hurt that I had turned away from her to ask the guy my final question. I explained that I was just trying to not argue and I thanked them and headed to my room.

After I got into my room, I realized that I wasn't comfortable staying there, passing by the front desk just to see her scowl at me for the next couple of days, so I decided to spend my money elsewhere. The guy at the desk was still there and cancelled me out very kindly.

As for the lady, she had contradicted and rolled her eyes towards a new employee in front of a customer, aggressively berated a customer who had made a simple mistake and was only seeking help in finding a resolution, and made them feel so uncomfortable that they were unwilling to stay there. It's a hotel, comfort is their business.

I'd recommend finding a new manager, for the benefit of both the employees and the customers. I know I wouldn't want to work for her.

The next place I stopped by was super nice and helpful. I'm in a room that is comfy and quiet and I can now look forward to passing by the front desk and smiling at the kind...

I cannot express enough how perfect this venue was for our special event. From start to finish, Leslie Navarro, the Sales and Catering manager went above and beyond to ensure every detail was flawless, making our reunion an unforgettable experience.

Exceptional Service: The hotel staff provided exceptional service, accommodating our every need with a smile. From the event planning process to the day of the reunion, their attention to detail and commitment to making our event a success were evident. The team was flexible, understanding, and incredibly supportive, helping us create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all our guests.

Beautiful Venue: The event space was beautifully arranged, offering a comfortable and elegant setting for our gathering. The decor was tasteful, and the setup was exactly what we envisioned. The hotel provided everything we needed, including state-of-the-art AV equipment, making it easy to share memories and presentations during the event.

Comfortable Accommodations: Many of our attendees stayed at the hotel, and everyone raved about the quality of their rooms. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, providing a relaxing retreat after our festivities. The convenient location of the hotel also made it easy for out-of-town guests to explore the local area.

Delicious Catering: The catering provided by Austin, Dominic, and Eric, was top-notch. The menu offered a wide variety of options to choose from and everything was delicious.

Attention to Detail: What truly set this experience apart was the hotel's attention to detail. They understood the significance of our reunion and worked tirelessly to ensure everything went smoothly. Whether it was arranging special seating for those with mobility issues or coordinating with our event planner, the hotel staff was on top of everything.

Overall, the Holiday Inn Lakewood exceeded our expectations in every way. Our 50-year reunion was a resounding success, and much of that is thanks to the outstanding team at this hotel. If you're looking for a venue that offers exceptional service, beautiful spaces, and a commitment to making your event truly special, I highly recommend the Holiday Inn Lakewood. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such an...
