First off, it is a lovely hotel. My husband stayed there in early May and wanted to go back in June. I booked his room through Booking.com and our Visa was immediately charged (by the hotel) the full amount. Several days later I cancelled (well within cancellation period) and waited 7 days for a refund. When one was not put on our credit card, I called and spoke with Elaina, the property manager. ||||She first informed me that she had not processed the refund yet because she needed 7-10 days to do so - I explained she already had 7 days since the cancellation. She then said that they were closed for a long weekend over Memorial Day holiday and she was behind. I pointed out that if they could immediately charge my card upon reservation then they should be able to immediately credit my card upon cancellation. She then went on to say that there were serveral cancellations ahead of ours that she needed to also process. Again, I said that should not physically take 7-10 days. Her final reason for not processing the cancellation was that there was no money in the bank accounut to allow her to process...
Read moreIf you can forgive the name, Luna Paradise is a pleasant surprise along one of the shabby chic streets of older Fort Lauderdale. More emphasis on shabby than chic. There is likely no better reason to stay here than its location but let me crank out a review so you know what to expect. The exterior of the Luna Paradise building is a bit of a cumbersome stucco studio but the interior of each apartment imbues cool modern character. I have stayed in Unit 5 and Unit 10. Styled as a move-in-ready condominium, all the rental spaces feature refreshing renovations and uber-modern touches: flat panel televisions, stainless appliances, glass showers, updated faucets, etc. However, let me be clear again...these are decent for-rent studios and not truly motel accommodations. The management has dispensed with any warm welcome here — no concierge, minimal toiletries, and absent pampering. However, this joint scores somewhat higher with me because I liked the hands-off simplicity of its design and the uncomplicated location...
Read moreThe air was so dry and the clean filter symbol was on the thermostat. My boyfriend and I had nosebleeds the first couple days. I left Florida with a sinus cold. There were no extra garbage bags, toilet paper or paper towel. There were no cleaning products. Had to shop for these silly essentials. The kitchen reminded me of a male college dorm - 6 different size pots, but nothing that would go in an oven if you wanted to cook something from frozen. The coffee machine was broken. I pushed the couch over a bit and found a bandaid and a shard of glass as well as some unidentified brown stain. I moved a mirror slightly and found a chewed up gum on the floor. I messaged the guy to ask if we could expect to get extra supplies a couple times and was ghosted. I think some simple overhauling of these little things could make the place a solid 5 for me. For the price point I am normally much more forgiving but this was just a pain. Fix the A/C filter, get a better cleaner and just stock the place...
