Blue Strawberry by the Sea — Hotel in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

The Blue Strawberry by the Sea in Lauderdale By The Sea offers the notable advantage of being within walking distance of the beach, a feature that initially drew us to book our stay. Unfortunately, the proximity to the beach is the hotel's sole redeeming quality.

Upon arrival, we encountered our first significant issue with parking. Although our reservation was for two people, and we had a daily visitor who lived about 45 minutes away, the hotel only allowed us to park one car on the premises. This forced us to park the additional car in a public lot a couple of blocks away, incurring a daily fee of $25. This inconvenience and extra cost were frustrating and should be taken into consideration for future guests.

The cost of our stay was $800 for 4 nights and 5 days, which felt steep given the overall experience. The hotel does feature two pools, which could have been a nice amenity, but both were disappointingly dirty and uninviting. We expected better maintenance, especially considering the price we paid.

Another significant issue was with the in-room amenities. The refrigerator and freezer were unable to keep anything cold, which was a considerable inconvenience. We had brought some perishables and beverages, expecting to keep them cool, but this was not possible. Additionally, the water temperature and pressure in the shower were terrible. The water barely got hot, and the pressure was so weak it felt like we were being sprinkled with water, making showers uncomfortable and ineffective.

Moreover, we faced repeated disturbances from the room service staff. Despite placing the "Do Not Disturb" sign on our door, they attempted to enter our room daily. This lack of respect for our privacy was troubling and unprofessional.

Compounding the dissatisfaction with our stay, we found that every place to eat around the hotel was very expensive. While this isn't the hotel's fault, it adds to the overall inconvenience, especially since there was no complimentary breakfast provided—a common offering in many hotels. For example, we paid $35 for one medium two-topping pizza nearby, which felt outrageous.

Adding to the inconvenience, the hotel is located on A1A, a local highway. The constant noise of passing cars was disruptive, and getting out of the parking lot was a hassle. We often had to wait a long time to reverse onto the road, which was incredibly frustrating and inconvenient.

In summary, while The Blue Strawberry by the Sea offers the benefit of being close to the beach, the myriad of issues we faced—limited parking, additional fees, dirty pools, malfunctioning appliances, inadequate water temperature and pressure, intrusive room service, costly dining options, and the inconvenience of its location on a busy road—made our stay far from pleasant. Given these substantial drawbacks, I would not recommend staying in Lauderdale By The Sea or at The Blue Strawberry by the Sea unless you're prepared to pay for lacking quality and...

Just returned from my week in Ft Lauderdale staying at the Blue Strawberry. Danielle is the manager there, and she is an unkind woman who makes all kinds of promises and never follows through.

The photos on the site are NOTHING like the rooms there. We booked OVER A MONTH in advance for a ground floor room, and called a week ahead to make sure, and they had us on the second floor. Should have been our first clue. We had no photos on the walls, a card table and chairs for furniture, and peeling paint and broken doors. Its run down and falling a part.

We booked this place based off the photos....we had clients coming to our room and needed a professional feeling, which we did not. We complained and were told that we got an room that was not renovated and she told us WE chose this, we DID NOT. Check the site out, it offers STANDARD and DELUXE rooms....she actually told us she would move us to another room....and we never got offered this, we asked for TWO beds and got one!

WHAT A MESS! The pools are pools. nothing to complain about there. The rooms are clean but run down. We will NOT recommend this place to anyone, or ever return. The place across the street called Horizon is amazing! 2/3 the price, we paid over 350 for this room and it WAS NOT worth it!

ONE BRIGHT SPOT: Her cleaning and maintenance crews are amazing!!! They are attentive and kind and always smiling. We left them many tips for their service. Aleena in particular is a wonderful person!!!

Dieses Hotel wurde von uns "relativ" günstig über Hotwire gebucht. Wir hatten eigentlich auf ein anderes Hotel gehofft da wir schon jetzt zum 4ten mal in der Gegend sind und uns ein bisschen auskennen. Die Bilder auf der Website ließen uns allerdings doch hoffen da überall publiziert wurde das das Hotel erst relativ neu renoviert wurde und schöne Zimmer mit neuen Möbeln abgebildet waren.||Die erste Ermüdung kam direkt nach Ankunft. Es war 16.30Uhr, also mitten in der Check-In Time die von 15.00Uhr - 19.00Uhr angegeben war. Es war niemand vor Ort und es klebte ein Zettel an einem Fenster mit unserem Namen und dem Hinweis irgend eine Nummer anzurufen um weitere Infos zu bekommen. Es dauerte dann erstmal weitere Minuten bis wir das besagte Telefon entdeckt hatten und weitere mehrfache Versuche jemanden ans Telefon zu bekommen. Es wurde uns dann mitgeteilt das die Zimmerkarte in einem Schlüsselsafe an der Aussenseite untergebracht ist. Soweit ist das alles noch annehmbar wenn auch nicht wirklich professionell da auch eine kurze E-Mail vorab schon hilfreich gewesen wäre.||Als wir dann das Zimmer betraten überkam uns die nächste Ernüchterung. Das Zimmer war definitiv nirgends abgebildet! Möbel alt und beschädigt. Küche einfach nur schmierig, das Geschirr will definitiv niemand benutzen! Zum Glück hatten wir Plastikgeschirr dabei. Der Fernseher nicht zu gebrauchen aber das schlimmste war das Bett. Es sah aus wie vor einem Mord, jede Matraze war in Folie eingeschweißt und es knarzte so laut bei jeder Bewegung das an Schlaf nicht zu denken war. Dieses Zimmer ist vielleicht für Spring Breaker geeignet aber nicht für normale Touristen die dafür Geld bezahlt haben!!!! ||Wir haben natürlich trotzdem das Zimmer behalten und uns nicht beschwert (war ja auch niemand dort, wir haben in den ganzen 5 Tagen Aufenthalt niemanden gesehen) und das beste daraus gemacht.||Der absolute Hammer war dann der Abreisetag. Wir waren morgens noch kurz am Strand um noch eine Std. das Meer zu genießen. Anschließend duschten wir noch und packten unsere Koffer als plötzlich um 10.15Uhr einfach eine Frau in unser Zimmer kam ohne auch nur zu anzuklopfen. Ohne ein Wort der Entschuldigung verließ sie wieder unser Zimmer. Wir ließen uns nicht beirren und packten weiter unsere Sachen. Es war dann ziemlich genau 11.09Uhr als es an unserer Tür pochte (nein es war kein normales klopfen sondern ein richtiges pochen als ob die Polizei davor stehen würde). Meine Freundin öffnete die Tür und ein unbekannter Mann stand vor der Tür und sagte nur unhöfflich: Check-Out is at 11AM und ging weg!!!!! :-O Also so etwas unverschämtes habe ich meinem Leben noch nicht erlebt. Wir waren so gut wie fertig und mussten nur noch die Koffer zum Auto tragen. Das Trinkgeld das wir noch auf den Tisch gelegt hatten packten wir nun wieder ein, wir waren sehr sehr verärgert darüber!||Anschließend begab ich mich auf den Weg zum Büro um auch noch ein paar Worte des Ärgers loszuwerden und die Karte abzugeben als natürlich wieder ein Zettel an der Tür hing das niemand da sei und die Karte in einen Briefkasten geworfen werden sollte...||Das Hotel war weit davon entfernt ausgebucht zu sein!||Strandstühle, Schirme, etc...konnten nicht benutzt werden da Defekt oder so verrostet das man Angst haben musste es anzufassen.||Das schlechteste was ich jemals in Florida erlebt habe und wird sicher niemals wieder von uns besucht werden oder weiterempfohlen werden!!!!!!!!!||Die absolute Enttäuschung in dem schönen Lauderdale by...
