My wife and I booked a stay here using our timeshare. And of course, the pictures looked great online, but would the resort measure up? I think so.
We actually had to arrive a few days late (the timeshare exchange was for a full week). The staff were accommodating, and when we landed at Fort Lauderdale Airport, I had to call them to let them know I wouldn’t make it before the office closed at 7:00 pm. So they sent me instructions on how to get my keys via a lockbox.
Now this place isn’t the Ritz, nor did I expect it to be. I’m looking for clean and comfortable. All entrances are exterior and the building is three floors high. They do have an elevator. We had a 1-bedroom unit on the second floor in room 206.
The unit isn’t large by any means. The living room and kitchen area were together. The fridge was full size but I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a small dishwasher, although it is probably more than adequate for most people. The unit did not have an oven but did have 2 stovetop burners. Since we don’t cook when we travel, that wasn’t a big deal.
The living room had a recliner and a sleeper sofa. A small dining table sat beside the sofa. I liked the arrangement of the bathroom. The toilet and shower were in one area separated by a door from the sink. The sink area connected the living room and bedroom. Of course, there was a door to the bedroom, but there was also a pocket door between the sink and living room. That’s a nice feature since the unit supposedly sleeps 4 people, but I definitely wouldn’t try to fit four adults in one room.
The bedroom was tight with little space around the bed. We only had a closet since there wasn’t room for a dresser. But the bed was comfortable, and we slept well.
I wouldn’t classify these next items as complaints, but perhaps oddities. The shower was nice looking, but was the narrowest shower I have ever stepped in. And then there was the door off the bedroom. Basically you had a deck right off the bedroom. However, it wasn’t private in any way. There were about 5-6 units sharing this walkway, with each unit having its portion cordoned off by a single rope. I guess this feature makes the unit ocean view? Needless to say, we never used it.
The unit was very clean. In fact, the resort offered basic daily cleaning service, which I don’t see very often when I use my timeshare exchange. You simply have to indicate whether you want someone to clean the unit by switching a little sign next to your door that says do not disturb or welcome. As for laundry, the unit does not have a washer and dryer, but there are some onsite. We didn’t use them, but the cost for using the washer and dryer was $1 each.
Parking spaces are assigned when you arrive, and ours was very conveniently located off a side street.
The resort is directly on the ocean. You can grab chairs by the pool to take with you to the beach. You can also request a beach umbrella in the office.
We liked the location as well. Within a few blocks, you’ll find several restaurants and shops.
I would definitely stay here again. You just can’t beat everything the resort offered - clean and comfortable rooms, a great location and...
Read moreThis place is truly a gem. My husband and I had a wonderful 9 days here. We were in room #2 on the first floor right by the main pool and parking. This was the one bed room apartment and it was perfect. Apartment was equipped with pots, pans, plates, paper towels, cooking utensils. Basically anything you would need to cook in a kitchen. We worked from our laptops for a few days in the apartment and they even offered another WiFi to ensure we didn’t have any issues and we were able to attend our video calls! If you’re looking for a place right on the beach, this place is a great choice. The community areas are cleaned every day, this includes the chairs, pool, the grounds everything. Room cleaned each day. The staff is very lovely and pleasant. They provide chairs for the beach along with umbrellas. They also have beach towels and water toys for children. I had a family member come to visit for a few hours and they even helped to provide guest parking. I’ve seen a lot of reviews here describing the size of the rooms as being small, I’ve honestly never understood the obsession with Americans wanting bigger things but this place was perfect and the size was generous to move around perfectly. Unless you’re 300+ pounds, you should be fine. We had no complaints. I want to shout out to the main desk person, Bailey who truly went above and beyond to provide us with the best experience. He was always there to answer any questions we needed and we were so thankful for the attentiveness. All in all, if you’re looking for a place to stay right on the beach, and right next to the heart of the city then this is the place for you. Bonus points if you book the 1 bedroom apartments on the first floor, I felt like I had the best room...
Read moreA post cruise 3-day stay at Lauderdale by The Sea. Its about 30 minutes from the airport. Friendly staff and a short walk to downtown where the shopping and dining was. Its perpendicular to the ocean but if ocean views are important the property offers 2 pools and enclosed large patio areas with access right to the beach. I saw families enjoy the 2 gas grills and they have plenty of room to relax after a day of sightseeing. Rooms were immaculately clean. The studio we had was not huge but plenty large enough for the 2 of us and 5 bags. The fridge, micro, dishwasher would come in handy if you had a longer stay. Each room has chairs and table by the door to catch the ocean breezes. Its off A1A so its easy to get around on a quiet road. Lauderdale by the Sea is quieter then the beach areas by Los Olas, so if your looking for night life its not as good as location but if you have family it maybe a really good fit. The location is not as convenient to FLA attractions but it makes up for it less people and congestion. The two-building two story motel has no elevator so if you carrying your bags it will be a chore. Other then that it was good experience and they offer a 10% discount for repeaters. There are few time shares so availability can be tricky. Lauderdale by the Sea the restaurant prices are resort area so expect to pay $15+ for entrees but other options are available. You may want to research on the web restaurant options close by on US 1. I didn't check out the pier but I saw people fishing it all night. The town offers a couple fun souvenir spots as well as decent...
