Tonight I went to Flemings for the second time in my entire life.
The first time I had ordered my steak “rare”, and it came out cold (like it had been sitting out for some time) & cooked “medium-rare”. I am not one to complain nor send things back to the kitchen, and I can easily tolerate a “medium-rare” steak but I sincerely enjoy the taste and texture of a “rare” steak. I boxed it up and took it home so I could heat it up later on which I did, I had filled up on lots of appetizers.
Well, tonight was the second time I have been there - I decided to give it a second chance because my friends always rave about it. I ordered the same thing - the filet, cooked “rare”. When I ordered it, our waitress second-guessed me and said “Do you know what our “rare” is here? It is basically red all the way through!” and I said “Yes, I know what rare is.” She continued to second-guess my order and repeated herself. I was getting bothered, so I said “Fine, I’ll take it medium-rare then!” I was getting irritated and felt disrespected. I’m 29 years old but I look a bit younger. Maybe that is why she assumed that I did not know what I was talking about? Either way, she shouldn’t just assume. My friend got a different kind of steak and also ordered hers “medium-rare”.
Our food comes out and I cut into my steak. My steak was cooked “medium”. Almost no pink at all. My friend cuts into her steak and it was cooked correctly as “medium-rare” so I could compare it quite accurately. As I previously stated, I am not one to complain so I tried to deal with it, I took two bites of it but I was very turned-off. Furthermore, I was not comfortable with paying that much for a steak cooked so much more than I had originally requested. Even more-so since the waitress had been so rude to me initially. I politely flagged down our waitress and said that “it was over done”. The waitress said, “Did you try cutting into the center?” I had already done that and showed her. She goes “Oh yeah, that’s “medium”, I apologize we can make you another one”. I told her “Thank you, but that won’t be necessary.” She persisted, trying to convince me to order another one, saying she’d “credit the bill”, but I politely declined.
Eventually, the manger came out and was coaxing me into ordering another steak, saying they could credit the bill, but I insisted that I did not want another steak. Instead, I finished my lobster bisque (which was amazing!) and helped myself to a few expresso martinis. When I received my bill, they had credited the steak, but still charged full amounts for everything else, which I found a little odd considering I did not take them up on the free steak. Additionally the “suggested tip” amount was based off of the original full-price bill (botched-steak included)! This was $60 more than the bill that I would be paying! I found that to be extremely disappointing.
Overall, I was very unimpressed by both of my experiences here at this restaurant. Maybe if this were Apple Bees this would be excusable, but this is supposed to be a fine-dining experience. Most of all, I felt let down by the customer service and service recovery - dare I even call it that. If you like your steak cooked right, and don’t want to be schooled by an overly-assumptive waitress, I would advise you not to come here!
I’m not going to lie… I may return for a carry-out of the lobster bisque....
Read moreI left a previous review which is gone. I also sent a Email to guest services and never got a reply. So I will leave another review. I was dining alone for my birthday and really wanted to have a fabulous steak. I've been here before. This visit was not as great within a few areas. The two younger Woman hosting weren't overly rude but not warming. They seated others without reservations while I waited. I was about 12 maybe 13mins late I understand but it was raining dark and it was my 2nd time there. They sat a few 2 party couples then a few more 2party people AGAIN. Finally I said excuse me I know I was a few mins late but I had a reservation for 2 do you have a table ready? They had to clear one but the 1 young lady said oh what's the last name Mam? I had just told her though and they knew I was waiting. Nevertheless I waited less than 15mins but at least the time I was behind I sat ànd waited. They just weren't receptive, welcoming or even just kind. So my guest was in a accident unable to come I was dining alone for my bday which was ok. I wanted to have a great dinner. I had the espresso Martinis, wedge salad and crab cakes to start. I absolutely love the wedge salad but it didn't come and here comes carb cakes. I didn't like those not even a little bit. They smelled very fishy ànd also seemed like canned crab. No nice pieces of crab. I ate almost half of one then decided no thank you but didn't complain. I did have to ask about the wedge salad my server brought it out pretty fast then. I ordered the dry aged ribeye mes rare, king crab legs, lobster macaroni and cheese and creamed spinach. The Crab legs for king crab were very small. Only the small knuckle piece was a little sweet. The rest were all pretty salty with very little meat at all. I have gotten better from Meijer or Kroger and snow crab be better and bigger than what I got for king crab legs. That was a real bummer. The steak was absolutely cooked properly, a little over seasoned but not badly and it was very nice. The Lobster Macaroni and cheese was amazing. The creamed spinach was good. All in all everything but the crab legs were good. I expected everything to be on point. This is a alot of food for 1 person and I'm a small woman but I like to order alot just to taste more. I had planned on taking a seafood tower to go home and eat later that evening because it was 6pm and my 1st meal of the day. I also love king crab and Maine lobster. The lobster in the Mac n cheese was good and the couple behind me were raving over their lobster. So sure take home a seafood tower. I changed my mind after seeing the size and tasting the taste of the crab legs. If I decide to go again which would be my celebratory outing for beating a horrible few yrs of sickness and some being cured or New Year's dinner. I would just stick to that ribeye and wedge salad. I spent over 300.00 for 1 person, didn't complain and tipped my sweet server about 30% even though she forgot my wedge salad lol. It is Christmas time but Come on Flemings you guys must level up with...
Read moreI would like to start off by saying thank you to Kristi, our waitress Dafina, the chef and crew for making our night great. Upon arriving we were greeted and seated with smiles. Our waitress was the best waitress I have ever encountered at any restaurant. She made sure our food was perfect, checked up on us constantly and made great conversation. We started off with drinks and Appetizers. The Shrimp cocktail came out with the largest fresh shrimp we've ever had, the cocktail sauce was amazing. We also had the crab cakes which were perfectly seasoned and breaded to perfection with large juicey pieces of crab meat in each bite. Our waitress recommend extra sauce on the side and it was great for extra dipping. Best crab cakes! We ordered the Chefs Reserve, which included the 28oz wet-aged prime bone in New York Strip and a 6oz Filet Mignon. It was served with a trio of Himalayan Pink salt, rich Black Lava and Vintage Merlot salts. The steaks were cooked to order medium rear and juicy with a well seasoned crust. We ordered a side of flemings potatoes that were cheesy and sooo good. We also had the lobster Chipotle mac and cheese. I would highly recommend this, the flavors and cheese melted in my mouth and sent me to heaven. I also had the seasoned mushrooms and asparagus. These sides are huge and will last for days with plenty to take home. We ended the night with creme brulee and our waitress surprised us with a plate for my husband since we were redoing his birthday dinner. Overall 10/10 experience and would highly recommend. If you are looking for a fancy night out to take your love and have great food, this is the ultimate fine dining experience with large portions to fit the price. Ps- on Tuesdays they run a special for the...
