My husband & I recently stayed at the Plaza La Reina for 4 nights & found this Spanish styled, boutique hotel very beautifully furnished & very inviting. I'm an residential interior designer, so I appreciate a room that is NOT your typical hotel basic. Our room was quiet, comfortable & well equipped. Beds & bedding were quality & comfortable. We always stay in places that offer a kitchenette for the convenience it offers. It just makes it feel more homey & comfortable for us. Having a washer/dryer in our suite was a definite bonus as well. I will add that we were disappointed in the fact that they do not offer TV's with Netflicks for watching movies. This is the first hotel we have stayed at that did not, which in this day & age is disappointing & unusual. A basic convenience for guests I would say. We were asked daily from the concierge if we wanted our room freshened up. We only requested it twice during our stay since we did not need more towels or bed linens changed. This is an environmental choice we are thoughtful about. Overall we found the service very good, the staff were helpful, personable & professional from the day we called in to book, to the day of check out! This hotel offers a lovely rooftop terrace, which we knew about when we booked, but we made a stupid mistake & forgot about this amenity & missed out! It's unfortunate since we came from a record breaking wet & cold Spring in Vancouver, Canada. We were wanting the warmth of the sun to warm our bones & souls. The weather was great when we visited Santa Monica, so we certainly feel dumb for not taking advantage of enjoying this lovely feature the Plaza offers. Secured parking was convenient & plentiful, but we found it expensive. The hotel location is convenient right between the beaches & Hollywood Hills. Lots of restaurants & shopping available close by. We enjoyed out stay & made great memories at the Plaza La Reina. We recommend this unique & memorable hotel for all others that want a more intimate, heart warming experience while in Santa...
Read moreI found this gem of a hotel on Booking.com. My husband was flown into Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center with a life-threatening illness. Needless to say, it was one of the most stressful times of my life. That being said, the minute I walked in the lobby I immediately felt at home. So glad I picked a master suite because it included a washer/dryer in the suite. Not to mention a dishwasher, everything you needed for a couple days or a month! The staff was above and beyond. Particularly Troy, Nert (?), Nina and Ruben. Anything I needed, they were all there for me. The area surrounding the hotel is clean and safe. The distance to the hospital was walkable (my therapy) but very easy to Lyft, Uber, etc. The suite itself was sweet! A large living area with a kitchen, desk, dining area. The bedroom had the most comfortable bed, pillows and lovely linens. A giant closet, the biggest I have ever seen in a hotel. The bathroom was spacious, robe provided and their bathroom products were all high-end and smelled amazing. Good lighting, plush towels and plenty of them. I didn’t want to stay at somewhere “pretentious”. I needed a stress-free, quiet space and this def fit the bill. The whole vibe was old Santa Barbara which I love. Easy to DoorDash, but plenty of restaurants to choose from. Particularly loved Violet and Frida’s which is directly across the street. Another plus, if you have a visitor for the day, they have their own secure parking garage that was free for guests who weren’t spending the night. Lengthy review but this little piece of heaven deserves it. I will never forget Troy and Ruben! The only thing that was more funny than anything else was the strange artwork in my room. It just didn’t fit with the old world charm at all. Think Kitties in Space🤣. Will never stay anywhere else when in the area. Thank you Plaza La Reina, truly the queen of boutique...
Read moreWhen we found the hotel on booking.com, we’ve thought would be a great one. But honestly our stay turned into a nightmare. The manager Margaret is extremely rude, not only with us, but with everyone, she should be doing anything but not hospitality, clearly she is deeply unhappy with her job and when we complained about the service she said few times that she doesn’t own the hotel and couldn’t do anything and that I was welcome to leave the hotel. They don’t clean the rooms unless you book in advance, don’t replace towels and tools. We’ve traveled so much and I have never had such a bad service with such a frustrated manager. We are tax exempt and she at first said they don’t do tax exemption At The hotel. Although is the law and the cards are issued by the state department, then to justify her laziness she said I need to carry with me a type of form; knowing it was a lie and she was just bored I contested her and she lost it becoming defensive and super rude, yelling at me. In the whole US I have never had a problem with my tax exempt cards, I was surprised when I visited Los Angeles, I was given this type of treatment. In my opinion, for a manager this lack of knowledge it is unacceptable, I have checked out of the hotel and until now haven't got the refund of my tax, She was constantly trying to impose her superiority, which clearly just exist in her mind. Obviously The way she treats the guests and staff are just a reflection of how she feels about herself and her life, unhappy and miserable. Instead of working on herself, she puts her frustration on the hotel guests and...
