Writing this review on behalf of my partner. He went in for a routine check-up a couple of months ago which started a nightmare experience for him at this dental office. While the doctors are nice enough, the prolonged experience and office overall has felt completely disorganized and untrustworthy.
The 1st appointment at this office was just a check-up where they did a routine cleaning and took x-rays, noticed a couple of cavities and scheduled a follow-up to fix them. The 2nd appt was to address one side of the mouth’s cavities but the appointment took almost 2 hours. The 3rd appt was to address the other side, where they trimmed down the tooth but then discovered it actually needing a root canal. We were shocked as to why they didn’t notice this back when they took x-rays but we trusted that they were doing the right thing. They put a temporary crown on it until he was able to come in for the next appointment. The 4th appt was where the endodontist cleaned out the tooth but instead of wrapping up the root canal process here, they put another temporary crown on until the next appointment. This appointment still took another 2 hours and we were starting to become extremely weary of this office’s integrity. Going into the 5th appt, we were under the impression that this would be the last visit but this appointment ended up being them inserting the post into the area of concern and still requiring him to come back in again. This appointment still took over an hour. 6th appt - last visit where they were putting the crown on but upon taking more X-rays and examining, the doctor mentioned that he noticed yet another cavity. Again, why hadn't this been noticed before? Either the doctors aren't being thorough enough or they are looking for ways to keep having my partner come in and waste time and $. At this point, my partner denied the doctor’s offer to take care of the cavity, in fear of being subject to another unnecessarily tedious and expensive process. Additionally, there was no one at the front desk to help check-out properly.
The first few visits felt reasonable and maybe we should’ve asked from the start as to how many visits this entire process would take but it felt like this office pressured procedures and is not trustworthy. There was no transparency and it felt like they spread this across too many visits in order to unjustly charge us for every appointment. We’re not experts but even with a quick Google search, it doesn’t seem like a root canal should take more than a couple of visits and this has taken up to 4 visits for the root canal alone, with no infection complicating things. We’ve become extremely weary of wasting our time and money here and will be going elsewhere for a second opinion on...
Read moreThe staff is here is nice, but their professionalism and communication is terrible. I came in for sensitivity with a tooth back in February, and had to come back in three times because every "fix" they gave me did not work. By about the 4th time I came in, they determined I would need a root canal. They scheduled me with the prosthodontist who asked me which tooth it was. I told her that I couldn't give a 100% answer so would prefer them to confirm via x-ray so they didn't do the root canal on the wrong one. Instead, they relied completely on physical bite tests that relied on my own opinion. I told them multiple times that I was not 100% sure and wanted to make sure they found the correct tooth. Once I got the root canal, they did not prescribe me any pain medication, and I had to call back a few days later to request it. Not to mention, when they did the root canal, the dentist told me I had a wisdom tooth that needed to be taken out. I came back to the dentist a couple weeks later and they then told me she was wrong and I did not have a wisdom tooth that needed to be taken out, after they had already scheduled it to be taken out. This caused a lot of uneccessary stress that could have been avoided. To top it off, the dentist told me to come in at 3 pm on 7/18 to get the crown put on my tooth. After requesting time off work, I called the dentist to confirm since I never got a confirmation text. They told me they did not have me in the system? Additionally, I have now noticed that I still have sensitivity in the same area and they could have potentially done the root canal on the wrong tooth, which is what I told them we needed to avoid. After all of this back and forth, miscommunication, mischeduling, and misinformation, I told them to take me out of the system as I will be taking my business elsewhere.
UPDATE AS OF 10/29/25: I am no longer a patient here and have moved across the country. My crown this clinic did has completely fallen off only a year later, and my new dentist has informed me that this clinic tested my bite completely wrong which most likely caused it to fall off. If I could save anyone else the trauma and money that this clinic has put me through, I would strongly advise you not to go to...
Read moreTomas Anderkvist, DDS at Westwood Dental Smiles is by far the BEST dentist I've ever been to and I've been to many dentists. I originally went to Dr. Anderkvist because my two front teeth had chipped a bit and I had my previous dentist fix them with bonding or whatever they do he spent 10 minutes fixing and that was it, I was never happy as the teeth were rough and they literally chipped again not even six months later. I thought I need a new dentist and I found Westwood Dental Smiles and saw Dr. Anderkvist who took is time and redid my two front teeth perfectly, smooth, even and I know they'll last forever. He takes his time, he's a perfectionist!!! I thought ok I'm going to get Invisalign because I felt my teeth were moving, it turned that that another previous dentist who did a crown for me, gave me a bad crown it never felt right from the beginning food was always getting caught in the side of my mouth with the crown it was miserable. Dr. Anderkvist took a look and said we can't do Invisalign with that crown it will not work, he had to remove and replace the crown which he did at a very reasonable price and worked with me on that as well. The office personnel are wonderful, kind and very professional. I just cannot say enough wonderful things about Westwood Dental Smiles. I have finally found a dentist that cares about what he does and he does it perfectly!!! I've had dentist tell me to botox my upper lip so I don't smile too big, they hand you a mirror and plaster your smile and face on a huge monitor and I would walk out of the office feeling like a monster. Not at Westwood Dental Smiles, I walk out of there feeling wonderful, I've been taken care of by a real professional who truly cares! I am so grateful to have found Dr. Anderkvist and his office I cannot imagine going anywhere else!!! Finally a dentist who is great at his job because he cares!!! There are not enough stars to light up for Dr. Anderkvist he's truly the best dentist...
