We were visiting L.A. and met some family there for brunch on a Saturday, since it was close to them. It was a buffet style serving and it was 7 of us, 3 of them, kids under 13. The place was nice and clean and filling up quickly, as it seems to be a popular spot. We didn't get handed a menu with prices or anything like that, just a run down of the buffet stations from the server, and being that we were meeting family we hadn't seen in a very long time we didn't even think of it. There was line at every station and had to wait a good 5 to 10 minutes to get a plate of tacos, omelets or pancakes.. We each had one plate and the food was good, not great, but good.. and 3 cups of coffee. I took the bill and paid for it without even looking at it lol when i walked out and took a look at the bill, I was shocked to see that it was $345 for a buffet breakfast!! lol.. I didn't want to seem rude about it, so I called from the car to ask how much it was for the buffet and was told $45 per person . Had I known, we would have gone for seconds or thirds to make it worth it.. lol So Beware and a higher end restaurant will probably nicer, and...
Read moreVery good, but over priced, Mexican food.
Quick note on the service, it was strange. The flow of conversation between my friends and the waitress felt a bit off, like the timing wasn’t quite right; I can’t really explain it. Also, one of my friend’s dishes came out 10 minutes after we all got our food and his was cold, so I guess they just forgot about it.
Food wise, it’s good, but overpriced. Tortillas, I will say, are fantastic. They have to be freshly made because the flour tortilla for my BURRITO CAMPECHANO was super soft, warm and had a great chew you do not get from the premade stuff. The mix of steak and chicken played great off of each other and both were cooked well if you could search out an individual piece, but didn’t impart much flavor to the burrito as a whole. The dish ate like soft, warm, Mexican mush, a tasty mush, but there wasn’t any one distinct flavor to latch into and no variation in texture. As for the price, $22 for not coming with rice and beans feels cheep.
While the food at Frida is good, the prices can seem a bit hard to justify, making it hard...
Read moreI had high expectations for the food since it replaced Cabo Cantina which in my opinion had much better of it.
Lunch- I had the Beef Taco combo which was a complete disappointment. First off, our server took 45 minutes to bring it to me and it was cold once I finally got it. Secondly, the meat was drenched in oil and had no flavor. I've had wayyyyy better tacos from hole in the walls. I also tried one of my friend's salad, which was called Resplandor de Mango. It was really tasty, but extremely disappointing that the best tasting dish they had at a "Mexican Restaurant" was the salad. Oh, and almost forgot, it was pretty pricey but totally not worth it.
Parking- Unless you work in the Westwood Village area (which I do) parking is difficult to find. There is mostly pay-by-space parking which usually is always at maximum occupancy.
Overall, I would not go there again and I would not recommend it. If you're in the Westwood Village area, I suggest going to Palomino's across the street instead or Panini Cafe a couple...
