I enjoy all the perks that a costco membership comes with. The tire center is awesome and most of the employees are kind and helpful. But talking to customer service has got to be one of the worst things about costco. Today I spent over 2 hours in the store only to be shopping for 15 minutes.
I mistakenly bought a membership online, not knowing I had to go in person to renew. This was a few months past, and I hadn't been going to costco. Today, I went in to update my card, and the customer service was not able to find my account. I insisted I paid for a membership recently, but I couldn't find the email in the flood of marketing emails I received from costco since. The support person was not able to find my account and insisted one didn't exist with my name and phone number.
Since support could not find my account, we began the renewal process. The associates constantly bombard you with offers, it's exhausting and feels like grifting. The employee stated, "It looks like you spent a lot last year, and so you should keep the executive because you will likely make up your 60 dollars with the 2% return." I got a mere 27 something. She had my account open on the computer and so could have easily seen that it wasn't even close to covering a membership.
After I had paid for this second membership, I had time to locate the purchase of my first membership and so went back to support. Fortunately, this time, I got a younger woman who was very helpful and didn't feel like I was trying to rip me off every turn. She gave me my refund immediately, and even helped me with another issue the original support person couldn't help with.
Unfortunately, I did not catch either of the employees' names. But this happened the afternoon of 3/9. There was a young lady who was super helpful despite seeming much newer to the job. The older woman who helped me originally felt like she was trying to 'sales rep' me the whole time, and I really did not enjoy my interaction with her. She was disrespectful and misleading.
I have heard from someone (I will not name) who has worked at a different costco location for 7 years. He says that costco tends to favor seniorship over how hard people work. If this is the case, it makes sense why experiences like this happen. If you don't reward excellent service and instead reward seniority, you'll get...
Read moreThere are good and bad aspects of Costco...today I will highlight a few of my pet peeves. They need video surveillance to cover All the parking lots. ( there are none, and this is a liability)This they are highly negligent in putting in. Second they are lazy in not being open earlier in the day, and later in the evening for business owners or seniors . Third: They also do not listen to implement customers written suggestions at all, yet, continually perpetrate a sham that they care, but it is only a fassaude to waste customers time by asking for suggestions they merely toss in the circular file Fouth : Customer service should accommodate those who want to purchase gasoline cards quickly like a fast lane, instead they make you wait in line like sheep. Fifth: Products sold in electronics areas are not supported by knowledgeable people who are properly educated in product information. They want you to go all about to figure it out yourself rather than hiring people who can properly assist your questions with correct answers. Sixth:The next is membership fees are too high. They are making enough as it is for shareholders, yet customers and employees even come second in their pecking list of importance. Seventh: Payments to their card services should be accepted to be paid in person at the stores. Eighth: Their prices on everything have gotten way out of hand making shopping there unappealing as corporate attempts to keep profits the same as in low inflation times to bolster shareholders dividends up, in a pandemic that has strangled the consumers due to government mismanagement. We are the victims who are charged the penalty to suffer for being a member. Nineth: Our store has no competition since SamsClub went down due to mismanagement, so that is another reason I shop less there and cook more at home than to purchase their increasingly expensive crapola, especially in food products that contain dangerous canola oils and soy oils that humans should not consume. Profit is their only concern, not the health of customers for not forcing manufacturers to implement safer ingredients not harmful to the health of consumers. But....they care not, it's all about the benjamins, and this is only the tip of...

My experience over the years with Costco has been fantastic until this encounter with the Supirior Tire Center.
The employee who I originally spoke with at the store was completely rude, and it honestly seemed like I was wasting his time because I asked for options on tires for my truck. Verbatim: "You haven't gone online to research yourself?" Is what he told me. It was a Saturday and they were busy, but that doesn't excuse the way you speak to someone in a customer service roll. I told him I did my research and wanted to check availability/performance of the tires. He said they would be a special order and he "had no idea how they preform" without even looking at spec's. He told me the price which was significantly lower than a competing vendor, if Costco's price was the same as the competition I would have left right then and gone to that Big O location due to the interaction with this dude.
The same fella at the counter scheduled me for the following Saturday for install. His attitude changed and now he was my best friend.
Thursday that week a lady, Catilin, called and told me that my special order tires that I paid for IN FULL hadn't arrived yet. Not a huge deal until she told me that the original guy at the counter never should have set up the install appointment for Saturday due to the order wasn't placed in the correct amount of time to be attached to that delivery schedule. So, I set up for the following Saturday.
Day of install, the same employee was at the counter and still looked annoyed and that he hates his job, checks me in said it would be 1-1.5 hours. Total install was in the length of time quoted and when I got back to my truck I noticed the tech dig some.sort of tool into my wheel during install and THE CONPANY,OR INSURANCE 3RD PARTY ISURANCE ADJUSTER,DIDNT TO A THING!!
These marks are clearly from an instrument used at the time of install. You can not create fresh metal burs on the top inside lip of a wheel unless you remove the tire. VERY VERY POOR. Now the money I saved with the purchase of the setbof tires has to gonto...
