Haven’t been back for over 3 years to hotel Iroquois but it’s definitely even nicer than before! We stayed in the Marina View Deluxe King which is on the third floor. We love this hotel for the easy location to the Main Street and restaurants so close by.
Pros: the hotel is charming! Definitely picture worthly inside and out like a warm home this hotel has extremely good getaway prices for specific times of the year. They’ll do 60% off the rooms for a specific one night stay during their slower seasons on the island but there’s still plenty of people visiting. the hotel is always nicely cleaned and they provide a downturn service leaving cute little chocolates on your bed pillows like the grand hotel does! they provide a complimentary breakfast in the dining room in the morning it’s very nice to have a full porter service at this hotel (it comes included) this means when you buy your tickets at the ferry on the mainland the staff will give you special hotel tags to go on your luggage and it will be handled all the way to your room from there. No need to bring any luggage on the ferry yourselves. If you have a lot of stuff remember to tip the porter to be kind, we gave $5 for 3 bags once they were brought to our room. the bedroom TVs look bigger and are a much better size than what I’ve seen posted on Google maps in the past 😂
Specific notes for this room (Marina View Deluxe Kind): the view is amazing from this room you can see the fort and the docks and all the little houses on top of the hill it’s beautiful this time of year as well with the fall leaves (October 19-20, 2025) the bathroom in this room is a little small but it still has a spacious shower and sink countertop to do makeup and put plenty of your bathroom essentials this room is a third floor walk up so you will have to go up 2 flights of stairs and there is no elevator to my knowledge something to note for those with accessibility concerns because this room is closer to the marina you will be able to hear the boats from time to time but the ferry’s stop running around 6 pm so no noise issues at night time! lastly, I don’t remember this last time and I’m not sure if it’s room specific but we have a Dyson hairdryer in our bathroom!! (These are very nice luxury hairdryers if you are unaware)
Cons: I know this hotel and most are older but it would be nice if there was an elevator for the folks with accessibility concerns The bathrooms could be bigger but again they are still nice It is pretty easy to hear the people out in the hallway and closing and opening of doors The sound of the ferry’s docking could concern folks, I don’t remember it ever being a struggle with waking up hearing the boat horns but something to note There is no mini fridge or microwave in the rooms, at least not this one or the previous room we stayed in 3 years ago with the side porch on the...
Read moreAt least the management's responses to me have been consistent. All have been wrong.
When I originally posted my review the owner stated that this was a fake review. When I posted my reservation number they changed it to "we are looking into this"
After several months of looking into it, their latest response is that they tried to offer me alternative dates or a dining credit. They offered neither. Their attitude was "we published the wrong rates, take it or leave it". No compensation or alternative booking dates were offered. I elected to cancel my reservation because The hotel Iroquois raised my room rate after I had booked, and I repeat - No compensation was offered.
Here is what happened:
Booked a room on the hotel's own website and they called the next day to say they wouldn't honor the room rate. The hotel representative said the room rate was posted in error and mentioned a disclaimer on their website stating they didn't have to honor room rates posted in error.
They said wrong room rates can happen when the website is updated.
Since this is a known issue with the website I asked if they were going to correct this issue or go with another web developer and the gentlemen on the phone stated that they had no intentions of changing/correcting the website.
I also need to mention that after he called to state we can either pay the increased rate or cancel the reservation (we cancelled) the incorrect room rates were still listed on the website, two days later!
My advice is to avoid this hotel as they will not honor their advertised room rates, they don't care if they are incorrect, and have no intention of fixing this web site glitch.
TO THE OWNER WHO ORIGINALLY POSTED THAT THIS IS A FAKE REVIEW AND I NEVER HAD A RESERVATION (see below):
Reservation confirmation number was 96339226-1. You are the most unscrupulous innkeepers that I have ever had to deal with.
This was not a false review but an honest assessment of your questionable ...
Read moreAre we dreaming of a vacation on an island without cars, only horse, buggy or bike? Then go rent the movie, "Somewhere In Time," to preview what it is like to visit Mackinac Island on Lake Huron. We stayed at a charming, white clapboard-clad hotel nestled not far from the ferry and that offered a beautiful view of the lighthouse. The Hotel Iroquois has impressive water views and serves up a great breakfast. Our room was like a colorful bouquet of spring flowers and located close to everything. We rented tandem bikes to ride around the 8 miles of bike paths along the water's edge. Most is flat terrain making this a pleasant ride to take in the beauty that surrounds you. We also rented a horse and buggy for an authentic island experience. And while our hotel offered so much, a visit to the Grand Hotel is still a must. We opted to celebrate my husband's birthday here, and the restaurant seemingly could seat 700 guests. It boasts the largest covered porch in America and the furnishings are magnificent. Standing on this porch overlooking the pristine grounds and view, you breathe in and sigh, America, truly a beautiful place to see. Our Hotel was close, convenient, charming and a good choice for our family. This is a tremendous favorite vacation spot, so do plan ahead. There are many things to do here from swimming, boating, biking, riding, lawn games, and getting ice cream or fudge in town. The pace is slower than wherever you are from making this one of the best...
