We arrived to our room on 8/30 to be greeted by an overwhelming smell of deodorizer that had been used in our suite. After letting our room air out the smell did get a bit better. The room had just been cleaned and yet it still appeared dingy and dirty. The cabinet by the sink was missing paint and the bottom kick board was knocked loose and just sitting up against the cabinet. The carpet was stained, the wicker chairs in the suite were worn out and the huge over sized jacuzzi tub offered a discolored gold faucet. The lobby to the hotel is small and the baggage room barely held all the luggage for my party of 5. The elevator is located on the outside of the lobby entrance so you access it from the corridor that is lined with gift shops which means anybody shopping those stores have access to the elevator that leads to the hotel rooms. Had I known this prior to my arrival, I would have definitely PASSED on booking this hotel for safety reasons. There is a safety latch on the door once your inside of the rooms but without a safe in the room, that really didn't help us once we left to go sight seeing. We needed additional towels because they only provided us 4 so we called the front desk to get more. When they didn't show up with them, my husband ended up trying to locate somebody from the hotel to get them for us. He ended up on the third floor to try an locate somebody to get us the towel only to find the linen room open for us to take whatever we needed. He did notice that sitting right on top of the counter appeared to be an access key card that the staff must use when cleaning the rooms. He was not happy that the linen room was left unlocked and that anybody could have had access to everything in that room including whatever doors that key card opened. Not Cool AT ALL!! In the evening, the staff does bring you cookies and milk around 7:30 pm in the evening. They do knock on your door and if you don't answer, they come into your room with their access key. They bring you packages of Oreo cookies and they pour you a glass of milk which they walk around with from room to room carrying. You would think they would at least give you a single serve small milk container to go with your cookies but they are pouring milk into glasses and leaving them in your room while you are out. It was difficult to sleep for all of us because the noise from the floor above us was non stop. We could hear anybody accessing their room, walking, and the kids who were running at all hours of the day and night. The air conditioning in the room was difficult to control and it was either ice cold in our room or very hot. I did speak to the young lady at the front desk about my issues and she did apologize for the inconveniences.
If this had not been labor day weekend I would have packed my family up and went to another hotel. We paid $280 for the first night( which seemed fair) but then caught labor day weekend where the cost jumped to $370 a night. I have stayed in some fantastic rooms for $370 a night and this place isn't...
Read moreWe stayed here for the Lilac Festival and really enjoyed it. It's centrally located right in the middle of Main Street, so not too far to walk either to Marquette Park/the fort (and then further down the marina to the Mission area), or in the other direction towards Windermere Point and the boardwalk. Plenty of nearby restaurants, fudge shops, both ferry docks, the bike rentals, etc.||Our room was very charming - there were 6 of us and we had a room with a bedroom with 2 queens for me, my husband and our two kids, and then a little sitting room that had a pull out couch where my mom and sister stayed. This also had a balcony overlooking Main Street and even a bit of a lake view if you looked out. It was a great place for people watching (although sometimes a little noisy) and watching the parade on the last day of the festival!||Both rooms were decorated in a very charming way - ours had a blush pink/spring green theme and our beds were soft and comfy. The sitting room had a little kitchenette area (sink, fridge, microwave) and a coffee maker with plenty of pods. They were separated by a spacious bathroom area with two sinks and plenty of counter space for all of us, and a bathroom with a full tub/shower. Even the lobby, elevators and hallways are all very nicely decorated, everything with a floral and lilac theme.||Overall it was comfy and relaxing, although my mom did say the pull out couch was very uncomfortable. For future nights she slept on the couch cushions on the floor (my sister was fine with the pull out). We also enjoyed using the outdoor hot tub over at the Chippewa a few blocks down the street, but it is kind of annoying making that walk (especially coming back!) but the hot tub is large and right on the marina. One of the nights it was quite hot but the other it was barely bathwater temperature. There's no food/restaurant onsite, but we did purchase breakfast tickets for the Pink Pony for one morning (attached to the Chippewa) and that...
Read moreThis hotel was absolutely the nicest place. With the location being midpoint downtown, it is readily accessible to all that Mackinac Island has to offer whether you are walking or biking. From the friendly lady at check-in who accommodated us with an early check-in and explained the many amenities the hotel offered to the friendly young man who checked us out and all the hotel staff in between. We were met with courtesy and a helpful demeanor by everyone we met. First off, the room was amazing! The room was squeaky clean. A Keurig coffee maker with an assortment of coffees; a microwave, refrigerator, and glass/ceramic glasses and mugs were available. The bathroom had ample, soft, fluffy towels and toiletries. The beds were made with comfortable linens and the room itself was very quiet. The sitting area had comfortable furniture keeping with the style of the hotel. We had a balcony room with a water view. So nice to relax and people watch after a full day of walking or bike riding. The hotel itself was very clean, quiet and up to date. And the room was freshened every day. We also purchased the Breakfast packages which were offered at the Pink Pony Restaurant. A decently priced offer for a very good meal. There is so much that is very right about this hotel that I didn't include, so suffice it to say this is the hotel we will be...
