There's a reason this hotel is rated #1 on the island, and now we know why! We stayed here with our family in May for 3 nights, and have been in other hotels on the island in the same area. Main Street Inn and Suites was a HUGE difference from the rest, however, as it was completely spotless inside and out. From the hallways, elevator, billiard room, and in our room itself, everything was incredibly clean and well-kept up (this was a big, big difference from some of the other hotels we've stayed at there!) During evening turn down service, staff would bring us some local fudge, which was awesome!
Here's why we loved it so much- -The staff was extremely kind and attentive. We ended up needing two pack and plays for our kids at about 9PM unexpectedly. After calling the front desk to ask if they had any, they brought 2 up for us (and bedding for them!) within 90 seconds, no joke! -Clean clean clean! I cannot stress enough how incredibly clean this hotel was inside and out. I saw the hotel staff spraying and wiping down the entire balcony of each room every morning, just awesome! -Room was fantastic- we've stayed at other hotels (Lilac Tree, etc) with very similar room layouts, however Main Street Inn and Suites really utilized the space well, making it a much more open, spacious, and functional room. -Location was absolutely incredible, walking distance to everything. -The little things that the hotel does- they have fresh coffee by the elevators every morning, they gave us half a pound of fudge when we checked out, and they were super helpful whenever we needed anything.
Seriously, this is the place to stay, you will...
Read moreWhile this is one of the most expensive hotels in which I've stayed, it's also one of the most beautiful, comfortable, clean, and convenient hotels in which I've stayed. The hotel is essentially across the street from Sheppler's Ferry dock, and right in the middle of town. We were prepared for a more "historic" comfort level, but the rooms are completely updated and modern. We literally said "Wow!" when we opened the door to our rooms. Although the hotel is right by the ferry dock, and the ferries blow their horns every 15 minutes, we never heard those horns blow, nor did we hear any fellow guests. The rooms were immaculate, and the owners seem obsessed with cleanliness. We witnessed the halls being vacuumed more than once a day! The bathroom was spacious, with a sink outside, and everything was so well-maintained, you'd think it was brand-new. There's even a billiards/break room on the 2nd floor. The WiFi was also speedy. |The only negative we found was that on the morning we left, we came up from breakfast and greeted the woman at the front desk, telling her we'd be down in 10 minutes, and when we came back down in 10 minutes, she was nowhere to be found. We just left our keys, and found out she was having a coffee or breakfast next door. I don't understand why, when we told her when we'd be coming down, she didn't just say "I might not be there--please just leave your keys on the desk if I'm not in." |Other than that, we were thrilled with how well the hotel was run. Expensive, but probably a lot more comfortable (and convenient) than the snootier place up...
Read moreI would recommend Main Street Inn to everyone! What a charming place! The staff are EXCELLENT! So friendly and accommodating! I changed our dates of stay by one day and our original room was not available the second day so we had to switch rooms during our stay. They transferred our luggage for us and texted when the room was ready. I had left a mug in the original room and housekeeping knocked on the door to deliver it. A small thing but so indicative of the service there. They turn down your bed at night and leave a good sized chunk of fudge for you! While it is not a B&B hotel, there are so many places to get food, even right next door. During our stay, a B& B was $200.00 more a night. We can eat three meals EASILY for that amount. I’ve read reviews of complaints about it being expensive. If you are looking for budget stays, Mackinac Island should not be a considered destination. It’s an island and everything has to be shipped in. If you are looking for a beautiful place with wonderful service, immaculate rooms, FANTASTIC location to everything, then THIS is where you want to stay! I’ve also read this is this newest hotel on the island and yet from the front looks Victorian. Right across the street from Sheplers ferry. Joann’s fudge is also located in the building and reviews rate it the best! I asked many islanders for their opinion while there...
