Hidden Gem with a Big Heart â Lucky Bean Coffee House
Sometimes the best places are the ones that donât shout for your attentionâand Lucky Bean Coffee House is exactly that. Tucked away on Mackinac Island, this cozy little cafĂ© is wonderfully understated⊠and all the better for it.
From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like I had stumbled upon something special. No flash, no fussâjust the warm, comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a vibe that makes you want to take your time and stay awhile.
I ordered a cup of coffee, and let me tell youâit was delicious. Smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed, it felt like a little love letter in a mug. Even better? It was decently priced, especially for an island that can sometimes lean touristy.
Thereâs something charming about Lucky Beanâs simplicity. It doesnât try to be trendy or overly curatedâit just focuses on good coffee, good energy, and good people. Every part of the experience felt genuine and delightful, from the friendly service to the cozy atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes you smile without trying too hard.
If you're visiting Mackinac Island and want a little escape from the bustle, Lucky Bean Coffee House is a must. Grab a cup, find a seat, and soak in the quiet magic of a place thatâs perfect just the way it...
Read moreWe saw this shop while wandering, and when we realized we had an hour till our ferry, we decided to try âwhere the localsâ get their coffee drinks. With three people, we ordered three different items: hot chocolate, dark roast regular coffee, and a flat white. The hot chocolate was ânot too sweet,â just like she wanted. The dark roast was bold without tasting burnt (and the barista replaced the whole drink when his hand slipped on the lid and his finger went in the cup - no one knew but him, so he could have gotten away with just handing it overâŠ). The flat white showed they know how to pull an espresso shot brilliantly. The flavor was rich and nutty without the least bitterness. They were seriously busy at 3:15 in the afternoon, and yet they stayed professional and kept the drinks rolling out. Our order was complete in under five minutes, maybe as few as three, despite the constant flow of customers.
Highly recommend this purveyor of...
Read moreI really don't know what I expected buying a smoothie from a coffee joint. I spent $5.75 (plus a $2 tip) to get a 24 Oz smoothie. I wouldn't be so upset if it was just made poorly; not blended well, small fruit chunks, etc. But this smoothie tasted straight up awful. I would've been more satisfied blending a snow cone and adding milk. The signs says they use "fruit puree" but it tastes like flavoured corn syrup. For the price I paid you'd think they would spring for real fruit, ESPECIALLY considering you only need about 1 Oz of real fruit per 6oz of ice for a good smoothie. Not to mention it tasted like there was Splenda in it (which I don't consume for health reasons). The sign also said they put whipped cream in their smoothies which I'm assuming contributed to the general awful taste. Anyways I don't know what their coffee is like but you're much better off getting smoothies elsewhere or making your own. Worst $8 I spent...
