We have stayed at this location since it’s opening in 2021 and until this weekend we have done so without incident. Are the rooms clean? Absolutely. Is the hotel wonderfully restored while preserving historical features? Without a doubt. Is the bartender skilled and witty? Indeed he is.
We called the hotel direct as we always do to book our room. We made a last minute decision to make the 1.5 hour drive to finish some Christmas shopping in Madison ( it is our favorite little town to visit and we always come home with the most divine treasures). We gave them our member number, asked for a room on the top floor (they always have the best views) and were told nothing of a party, much less two that were booked for the evening.
We arrived around 6-6:30 and noticed there were a lot of cars there and there were few parking spaces and assumed at that point they were just extremely busy with the holidays. We checked into our room (still no mention from anyone about a party). We got to our room and immediately decided with the influx of cars we did not want to give up our parking space so we ordered doordash and ate in our room. By 8pm the noise level in our room had reached a point where the Television on level 24 was not overpowering the noise below us. (Yes, they put us in room #226 directly ABOVE 2 parties). We decided we would order a few drinks and continue to watch TV for a bit. The bartender told us the party should be over by 10 or so and we decided to try to hang in there. By 10pm, the screams got louder. Whomever had ticket #7606 had won a prize so congratulations to them. The shots had started right below our bed and the whoops and hollers continued to escalate until approximately 10:30 when we decided we needed a new room. We called the front desk and were told we had two options #1- move down the hall 4 doors or #2 We could use ear plugs!
At over 250.00 a night plus tax, I cannot imagine anyone being happy with these choices. I had began to get a migraine and my husband had already been dealing with an inner ear infection. We knew we did not want to wait for this party to die down when we were now being told by the front desk it would not end until midnight. We weighed our options. #1 sit and wait it out and pray eventually with enough ibuprofen we could get some pain relief from our surroundings #2 Go downstairs and throw ourselves at the mercy of the front desk and ask for a refund on the 4 hours we had been there. We opted for #2 and after 15 minutes of the poor girl calling everyone she could for assistance, she told us she could not do anything else and a refund would be up to the manager when she came in.
We loaded our items at 10:45 and made the 1.5 hour drive back home to our lovely, quiet bed and slept the rest of the night without listening to Paula Abdul or Sir Mix A lot being blasted below us. (Not that the music selection was bad if we had visited the location for a drunken party, which we did not).
We called the front desk promptly Sunday morning in an attempt to catch them before the payments were processed. We spoke with someone who told us the manager would be calling us back. This is where my level of patience ends. Brandi (the apparent mouth piece for this hotel, if you read the rebuttals on all reviews is who we spoke to). She agreed that someone should have notified us of the parties that were booked prior to our arrival and that we should not have had to endure the blasting noise in our room. She offered a 20% discount and some reward points added to our account for our troubles. We explained that 20% and points were not acceptable and she offered nothing else. We have been treated with more sincerity over an under cooked 20.00 steak.
It truly pains my heart to leave this review since we have had nothing but positive experiences at this location and always looked forward to our quiet, relaxing weekends in Madison. The location is amazing but cannot overpower poor customer...
Read moreThis is a wonderful Fairfield Inn and I highly recommend it. With that said, I was conflicted throughout my stay. The price said Marriott, the facility quality was Marriott, but the food service said Fairfield Inn despite the price being more like a Marriott. ||I don’t know the history but I was surprised this was not a more luxury Marriott brand hotel. The facility and the rooms are beautiful. It can and does command a premium price. Without hesitation I would stay here again. ||With that said, then you find the flimsy plastic cups and skimpy coffee service in room which is typical of a Fairfield Inn. I found myself not liking that, then remembering that this is a Fairfield Inn. |But the price is more like a Marriott.||The one improvement they need to make is food quality. They offer a beautiful lounge with dinner service. So I decided to try it. The very busy bartender/waitress thought they were out of salad. But ended up they were not. There is a very limited menu. The panini was quite skimpy and not really tasty. With that view and a little work, they could make it a destination dining venue, but they have a long way to go. Breakfast was typical Fairfield Inn. The bagel was dry and the rubbery eggs were the worst. For the elevated price, it should be better. ||In all, it was a wonderful venue, but i think it could even be better if they can figure out what brand experience they want to deliver and align the price and...
Read moreWe enjoyed a 2 night stay at this location, which is a beautifully renovated textile mill from the 1800s. The facade is so attractive, with well manicured landscaping & facing the Ohio River. Pleasant staff greeted us at check-in. Our 2 Queen bed room on the 3rd floor was spacious, with a lovely view of the Ohio River. We loved the high ceilings, which consisted of the original wood planks, painted white. Beds were very comfortable and cushy, with what appeared to be pillowtop mattresses. The pillows were ample, too, not flat like some other places we have stayed. The open concept lobby has a fireplace, which divides the check-in area from the full cocktail bar. There is ample seating in the cocktail bar, as well as the adjoining breakfast area and the outside patio tables/chairs in the front and back of the building. Breakfast was very good and the attendant replenished offerings as needed. There is no pool at this location, but that was not a deal breaker for us. |Our only suggestion for this location would be to have warning signs in the elevator bays cautioning guests not to try to stop the elevator doors with their hands or body parts.|In closing, this Fairfield Inn and Suites has the friendliest and most helpful staff of any place we have ever stayed during our extensive travels in the United States. We were greeted every time we entered or exited the lobby area. We look forward to returning...
