Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs — Restaurant in Madison

I like the concept but the service at the bar was highly disappointing. The bartenders exchanged shifts both had nonchalant attitudes. They attended more to their coworkers than to me. After placing my order 30 mins goes past and I ask the bartender what’s the status and she tells me I need to ask them, my order was given away. Now I have to wait another 15 mins. At this point I’m ready to get more water and the next bartender doesn’t even look at me once. She walks past a couple of times and helps other people. Another employee offers me napkins and she still ignores me. I had to ask for my own water. After I’d spent $30 and patiently waited. She says she just got there and thought I was taken care of but I told her she ask. I LOVE Cheba Hut. Never had a sandwich I didn't like. Although I must say, the chicken bacon salad has been one of my favorite menu items lately (yum!) - the nachos are finger licking good too (try them with chicken!) The staff is friendly and their great sense of humor makes you want to stick around for awhile. Yeah the sandwiches take some time to make but, this isn't a fast food restaurant, so trust me when I say they are worth the wait. The kool-aid is a deliciously unique drink option and the cinnamon toast crunch munchies are my favorite. The interior is energetic and inviting and the newly constructed bar is sharp! I cannot wait to come back in April for a beer bong on the newly constructed deck out front! I recommend Cheba to my friends on the daily so what are you waiting for? You will not be...

The food itself is pretty good. The first time I went there they gave my sandwich to the woman who ordered behind me (despite giving them my name for my sandwich they called her name for mine). When they remade it they messed it up but I didn't notice until I got home and I was too far to go back. I called them and they were apologetic and offered me a new sub on the house which I took advantage of the next day. I went back for the third time today. They took forever to make my sub and when I got back to my office I realized they forgot the avocado. It's neat that they are a marijuana-themed sub shop, but when the employees act like they're high (or might actually be high) and take forever to make sandwiches and consistently mess them up, I would just rather go to any of the other decent sub...
