We stayed at the Microtel in Marietta, Ohio, on Pike St, room 312. The queen bed room we had was very clean, and all in room amenities were well-stocked. The window seat was a pleasant surprise, considering the room we had wasn't big enough for a small couch or table and chairs. Even without the table and chairs or couch, though, the room was plenty big for 2 adults to spread out in and relax.
One of the recommendations I have though is to provide at least 4 pillows - our room only had 3 for the bed. I did not ask room service for another pillow although that probably would have made my night's sleep a bit more comfortable. The mattress was also a tad too firm, but you will get that sleeping away from home.
Aside from providing extra pillows, the other recommendations I have are to provide power outlets on both sides of the bed for charging electronics, and providing some sort of small adjustable table that the guests could use to sit in bed and use their laptops, eat color, etc. - think those adjustable tables provided for hospital patients that stretch over the bed and with wheels that slide under the bed. The nightstands on either side of the bed attached to the walls are great, but having the option to pull a small table across the bed for my laptop or sitting in the window seat to eat food, do computer work, or work the morning Crossword would be a nice bonus given the small room size. The adjustable tables would provide more work space and dining/relaxation options for your guests.
One of the amenities in the room that I was pleasantly surprised about is using the key cards to be able to contol the lights in the room. This is a feature I had not encountered before in other hotel chains. It works great - I applaud the company's effort with reducing power use in this way.
The continental breakfast was also quite good. The food was fresh, and tasted good. The hotel staff worked hard to make sure everything stayed well stocked for their guests throughout the morning. Having 24/7 hot coffee available was also a nice touch, with plenty of sweetener and creamer options for the guests.
Overall on a scale of 1-10, I give my experience here an 8 - I could have used that extra pillow but didn't take the opportunity to use room service, and the mattress was a tad too firm for my liking. I also did not get the chance to use the workout facility or the pool.
Other than that, everythibg else was top jotch. I will definitely consider Microtel for those out of town trips of mine in the future, and would most definitely recommend a stay here...
Read moreMy husband booked a month stay here while in the area for a travel job. For the price, the room was very small and tight with little to no amenities (no hot breakfast, no pool, had to pay for laundry) after approximately 1 week of staying in this hotel. We noticed a bed bug on the wall. We IMMEDIATELY notified the front desk and packed all of our belongings and found a new hotel to stay in. We were refunded for the nights we did NOT stay. But in my opinion, we should have been refunded for the nights we did stay after finding bed bugs. As soon as we left we had to pay to have all of our belongings disinfected and were paranoid for a ridiculous amount of time that the bed bugs could have possibly followed us. Luckily they did not as we were extremely thorough in our disinfecting and bed bug treating our clothing, shoes, and bags.
I would not recommend this hotel. There’s a hotel just up the road that is the exact same price for a WAY bigger room, incredibly clean, a pool and hot tub, hot breakfast and free laundry services… and no bed bugs.
Edit to add : This incident occurred on 2/20/22. The room was originally booked for 2/15/22 - 3/15/22. We checked out of the hotel on 2/20/22 at approximately 5:30PM immediately following the discovery of bed bugs. Confirmation number 85663EDO48481. To say there’s no record of this incident would be a lie. The reason of this review is to warn others. I’ve never been in a hotel with bed bugs EVER and it left me feeling paranoid for...
Read moreI was looking at hotels in the area and was unhappy with some of the prices and decided to take a chance on the Microtel. I'm glad I did, it would have been hard to improve on my experience.
Staff - Outstanding. The lady who checked me in actually listened to me and helped me with the right room.
Room - Very clean, either new or very well kept up. I had a view of the bridge to WV with some wildlife to break the boredom. The window seat was nice, I spent hours sitting with my feet up reading and watching the rabbits and a groundhog graze behind the building. Very quiet, on a level with the much more expensive hotel next door.
Bathroom. - Nearly ideal. Clean, everything worked and the toilet was conventional and did not sound like a Titan rocket taking off when flushed.
Halls and common areas. Clean and in good repair. Vending machines were not grossly overpriced, water cost less than at a rest stop and about what I pay at work.
Parking lot and surrounding area.- Seemed reasonably secure, Bob Evans across the parking lot and many food choices in walking or short hop distance. Parking lot was well lit and I was able to park right out in front of the entrance to the hotel.
I will be...
