We had purchased tickets to take 4 of our adult children, their spouses and grandchildren to a cardinal game and had to reserve 5 rooms at $130 per room to overnight in St Louis as we all live far away and would be traveling to see it.
4 of us are Wyndham rewards members including platinum and diamond members so we booked this hotel which is near Busch Stadium.
We arrived in town about 1:45pm. As reward members, we are entitled to early check in but we're told that the hotel was completely booked the night before so no rooms would be ready until 3pm.
Seemed odd that at only an hour prior to checkin time... no rooms were cleaned and ready? We called Wyndham about this then left to grab a bite to eat. 5 min later the hotel called to say our rooms were ready?
The lobby seemed nice but when we went to our rooms..... First, the entrance nearest the only elevator (at the back of the hotel) was littered with garbage and covered in cigarette butts despite the large sign stating its a smoke free property.
The outer security door where you would have to scan your key to enter the building....completely broken.
The carpet upon entering building was absolutely filthy as well as the walls.
Entered our rooms only to be assaulted with the smell of smoke. Not just smoke, I'm a 40 yr smoker (though I do not smoke in my house nor vehicle) so when I am choked out by the wreaking of smoke...you have to know it's BAD!
The room itself.... OLD, filthy, stunk...just absolutely horrible! The carpet is in waves as though it had been flooded at some point, the mirror was filthy, nothing dusted, curtains threadbare with holes. turning back the beds, we discovered the sheet weren't clean! The bathroom was disgusting. I couldn't bring myself to even shower in it.
Returning to the room after the game late Saturday night, we met a couple leaving the building. They were traveling and needed a few hours sleep before continuing their journey to Michigan. though exhausted, once they'd seen the room, assaulted with the think stench of smoke (with their mother on oxygen) black mold on the walls and filthy condition, dirty sheets....went to ask for clean bedding and was told that the hotel didn't have bedding???? what hotel doesn't have clean bedding? They called to find all other hotels completely full) decided to risk continuing to drive rather than stay in this hotel.
We wanted to officially check out but there was a line of people checking out, complaining about the state of their rooms AND arguing over being charged for a safe that they hadn't adked for.
This hotel should be closed down. Ranks as a $35 a night roadside motel at best. Certainly not a $130 a night hotel!!!! (though another disgruntled customer said they were on charged $85....and they weren't even happy with the hotel at that price) CANNOT believe Wyndham would even want their name associated with this place!
Spent over $600 for 5 rooms so filthy we felt we needed to shower after staying in it. All 5 rooms exactly the same! Don't know if I would even trust or risk booking another Wyndham hotel while traveling. Shocked, furious...
Read moreDO NOT stay here. The only positives were the price, and distance between Six Flags and St. Louis. But, if you want something cheap you’d be better off staying in someone’s house through air b n b. 😂 But all jokes aside, when we arrived the lady at the front desk was polite, but not over the top. When we went back to our car to grab our luggage it appeared that the baggage cart wobbles from side to side, which isn’t that bad. But, when we went to push it into the elevator it got stuck. I tried to hold the door open but it just decided to close. If we hadn’t have gotten in on time, I don’t know if we would’ve been ok. When I say that it just shut, it just shut. We’re glad that the luggage cart was there because frankly, it’s the only thing that held it open. This was a great intro to the next 2 days. We were placed on the 3rd floor where there wasn’t any bug problems in our unit, but I wouldn’t put it past this place. Our neighbors were polite but I think we got lucky. Since the elevator was sketchy, we decided to take the stairs. As we made our way down we got to see the museum of nicks in the walls, holes, and the worst; a long scratch mark that looked like it was from a horror movie. When we came back to the indoor stairs from the car the door was just open. It made our stay unsettling, for the fact that if someone wanted to come in, they just could. Breakfast was ok, just plain. I would recommend to get down there early so you can actually get some food, because by the time I got down there cereal was the best option. Our room was terrible. It didn’t seem like the worst though after seeing some of these reviews. The WORST part was either the HORRENDOUS smell from the bathroom, or the disgusting, unhygienic look and feel of the room. Marks, scuffs, disgusting stains, terrible carpets, and punch holes in the walls. I didn’t even dare sit on the couch or chair by the desk. Our bathroom was the worst part, with the smell and mold around the tub. The tub was gray from an original white and just looked unclean. Not to mention, it seemed as though they just decided to rip the smoke detector off the wall and just cross their fingers that the place doesn’t catch on fire. The “fitness center” was an ellipticals and a broken treadmill. We decided to not check out the pool, if it’s any reflection of the rooms i wouldn’t wanna go in it. It just felt unsafe, unsanitary, and just overall awful. So all in all, please don’t stay here,...
Read moreFor starters, when I walked into the Days Inn, it was so hot. I’m not sure if this location did not have air conditioning, but it sure felt like it.
As I walked deeper into the hotel I noticed that only the front of the hotel looked newer and the rest of the hotel needed some serious maintenance. The carpets are completely stained on the floors leading to the rooms and the elevator. Not to mention it is not a secure hotel AT ALL because the side doors to get inside are completely open for anyone to come in. I was harassed by a random man near the side door which made me feel uncomfortable. A couple of my other guests also stated that a strange woman outside of the hotel also tried to offer them drugs and alcohol, which was very alarming. The light fixtures flicker as you walk down the hallways which is super creepy. Also, that elevator smells like strong piss. The smell is so foul that it smelled like that every single time I got into the elevator.
Moving onto the hotel room. WHEW! For starters, the reference pictures online of the rooms look nothing like the actual rooms. My first hotel room had a terrible cigarette stench to it and I felt like I could not breathe. I purchased a non smoking room. Secondly the sheets on the bed were dirty and covered in small brown stains. Then the shower had grime all over it. I was so upset and uncomfortable I had to go and request an upgraded room. When I got the “upgrade” they did not give me a suite AND the room was basically the same expect I had been cleaned better. The decor in the room is very outdated and the phone to call room service was broken. Not to mention the balcony had empty beer bottles out there and their hotels pool was so filthy none of the guests were out there enjoying it. The room only had 2 big towels and one small towel inside and no one came to check on us for two days. Overall, I would say that this hotel visit was not the best. I was especially disappointed because I was celebrating my birthday over the weekend and this hotel completely ruined...
