The hotel is a far drive from the airport but worth it. It had easy parking a beautiful lobby and wonderful staff. From the moment we checked in at the front desk the staff was busy but very welcoming and friendly. On our way to our room a bell man greeted us smiling as we headed to the elevator and he also was unloading suitcases from a car. I thought -this is a very local Hawaiian friendly hotel. The room was clean and had a full kitchen and a balcony. There were many rooms but it did not take away from the scenery of the first floor greenery, 2 pools and ocean. My favorite part was walking the grounds, it is a calm atmosphere at the ka'anapali shores although you can tell the staff is working diligently and they are busy. The room was nice, clean and bright, we asked for ocean view when we booked it. Depending on the seasons of the islands the ocean tides either give you a sandy beach or a tiny sandy beach -ask the front desk about it if it is important to you. Sand or no sand the ocean is right there, it's fantastic! You can even see another Hawaiian island in the distance. The restaurant is located near the pools and it was convenient for us. All the guests seemed happy and chatty with other visitors (including us) it was nice, no one was impatient or pushy as a guest or staff. Breakfast was busy but delicious, they even had a healthy Hawaiian smoothie available as an option to a heavy breakfast. I had the french toast with coconut syrup-so good. A Hawaiian male waiter helped us and he was awesome, quick and super on top of it. Appreciate his Aloha. Around the pool I noticed lifts for humans who need a hand into the water and areas from the lobby to the pool were flat and easily accessible. Whoever runs this hotel is very thoughtful in their thinking.Nice hotel. Had a great time, will be back. ||When booking clarify ocean front, garden view, ocean view. And if sandy beach is important ask what month has...
Read moreWe just spent a week a Kanapali Shores and had an amazing experience. The staff was very welcoming, helpful, and friendly. Our ocean view 1 bedroom condo had gorgeous views from the living room and bedroom. We loved the huge doors that opened to a good size patio. The grounds were beautiful with trees, gardens, ponds, and waterfalls and were well kept. The 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, and surrounding grounds were clean and in good repair and very pretty. We could usually find deck chairs or lounges regardless of the time of day.
Our accommodations were just a little dated but we were very comfortable and the view made up for it. The full kitchen was modern and included a dishwasher plus washer and dryer. These amenities were very helpful. The resort provided towels dish soap, bathroom supplies etc. Everything was very clean and well maintained.
We were there at a time when the island was very busy with tourists and the resort was full, but, in spite of this, the resort felt roomy and not over crowded. Really so comfortable and beautiful !
We dined at the resort restaurant a couple times. The food was very good and the view was lovely. We never had trouble walking up to be seated which we learned was a rare treat on Maui.
We liked it because it wasn’t right in the busier, more congested areas of Old Lahaina or Whalers Village but we could easily get to those places in about 10-15 minutes. A great place for families or couples who want to relax in a...
Read moreMy wife and I own several timeshares and usually use RCI points to "trade" to other timeshares in the system. We have been to Maui many times over the past 35 years on "trades", but this year there wasn't anything available at any of the places we wanted to stay at, so we checked into a Costco Travel Package and found a Ka'anapali Shore Resort package with air, car and an ocean view unit. Having done a little research in Trip advisor before booking, we found many reviews both good and not so good (mostly good). We decided to go ahead and book a package, not knowing what to expect for sure by some of the reviews. The resort building(s) are in a "V" shape with the top of the "V" at the ocean, with most units either facing the ocean, the 2 swimming pools or both. Check in was easy and our unit was on the 9th (top) floor with a great view of the ocean and both pools. The staff was friendly and very helpful. There is plenty of parking available with a daily charge of $10. There are other resorts that charge a lot more than that. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There is a restaurant at the resort that has great atmosphere and the food and service was excellent. The resort has a great Hawaiian feel to it. Our unit was spacious, clean with a full kitchen. there were a lot of families there with children and it was really nice to see all of them having a good time. We really felt comfortable at the Shores and would recommend it based on...
