Absolutely terrible! No AC and I reported this on check in day (Friday) of our 6 day stay. The entire stay the temperature in the condo has been between 83-89 degrees every single day! The property management assistant stated the owner said the unit supposed to be that way even though I told her the window ac unit is blowing out warm air. The property manager Lynn told me to just open up the doors and windows and it’ll cool down and I told her we would try that but if it doesn’t work I will call you tomorrow. I have texted and called numerous times as well as text pictures of the temperature recordings in the unit on multiple days. They decided to bring by two fans on Sunday which really didn't provide much relief of the heat in the unit. However we kept all the windows open and the back sliding door open as long as we could before going to bed so we could get some sleep without sweating. On Monday we get a notice on the door from the resort to close all windows, and doors from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. because they're spraying the exterior for pest. Well the a.m. is when we wake up to open the door to cool the unit down from being closed up all night and getting hotter. I reported this to Lynn (property management) and she asked me "what do you want us to do?" Well Tuesday morning (today that I'm writing this review) at 6:43 a.m. she stated "Owner agreed to purchase a new air conditioner working on it with lowes I will keep you updated", mind you we check out tomorrow on the 16th! We left the condo at 8:30 a.m. today and came back at 5:17 p.m. and the temperature on all four fans reflects 89 degrees just as it did on Friday when we checked in with only the two fans. The unit is outrageously hot because the sun is beaming straight through the back door! My family and I are BEYOND upset considering we couldn't even cook in the unit because it was so hot and have to discard the food we bought at Costco. The last text I received from the property manager Lynn after I sent another photo of the temperature in the unit when we got back “it’s being installed tomorrow for an island we moved as fast as possible I’m sorry we did the best we can”. Are you kidding me! We visit Lahaina every year and this is the WORSE stay I’ve ever had! They could’ve sent maintenance out to try and fix the unit (maybe it needs freon or something) or could’ve replaced the unit on Saturday. Even my 11 year old son complained how hot it was in this place. Beware of owners cutting corners to make profit and not giving a crap about the customer. I have all text, photos and recorded calls as well. I AM DISGUSTED and it has pretty much ruined...
Read moreWe've stayed at the Papakea Resort, Unit L-107, which we've booked through Maui Dreams Come True, for several years without any real issues. However, our visit this year was a complete disaster. Within one day of our stay, we realized that we had a rodent infestation after seeing a partially eaten banana and rat droppings on the kitchen counter. We contacted the property manager Misty Earnest at Maui Dreams Come True, who manages this unit, of the problem, and were told to put all our food stuffs in the refrigerator, which we did. However, our uninvited pest remained with us throughout our 9 night visit. Maui Dreams Come True made every excuse not to resolve this rather gross problem until the day before we checked out. Maui Dreams Come True was aware there was a rodent problem in the unit because we found two mouse traps under the kitchen stove from where we saw and could hear the rodent(s) at night; plus Misty Earnest, the property manager at Maui Dreams Come True acknowledged that a large rat was caught when we called to ask if a rodent (rat) was caught after we returned home. The rat damaged a wallet, ate some of our food, and clearly was a health risk. To compensate us for 9 nights of our terrible stay, Misty offered us a meager 10% refund for the cost of our stay and $100 for damage to our food and property. Aside from this amount being insulting, we accepted Misty's offer begrudgingly. Now, one month after the start of our stay, guess what? NO COMPENSATION; but told the "check is in the mail."
I strongly suggest that those looking to book a Maui vacation NOT stay at the Papakea Resort, and that you avoid booking through Maui Dreams Come True at ANY of their properties. There are too many other lovely condos to rent on the island that are NOT infested with rodents and have exceedingly...
Read moreI booked the reservation online for a 2 bedroom: one room with a queen or king and another room with a combination of a king or queen with a twin or full in it. I did not get what I ordered and when I called to complain at the front desk I was given Aston Papakea reservation line since the "actual Papakea resort" has nothing to do with my room assignment. Speaking with the customer service representative she pointed out the fine print does not have a room guarantee and told me that I did not pay more for the room I chose online when indeed I did. They brought me a rollaway and told me they also had a pull out couch and denied me any compensation. To make matters worse the "fully stocked kitchen" did not have a baking sheet or anything I could put in oven to make dinner. When I called the front desk about it I was told that it is up to the owners to stock the kitchen but she would call housekeeping. We received a call back right away and told there is nothing they can do and have nothing for me. I was directed to call Aston Papakea customer service the next day after 9am and she told me she would call housekeeping. When I explained that the front desk here already did that and said there was nothing that they could do. The customer service told me she would call them herself and we had a baking sheet within 30 minutes. That tells me that the staff at Papakea lied and never called housekeeping to begin with. I will never stay here again: the service is poor and reservations for a more expensive room are not guaranteed in their fine print. Poor quality...
