The candlewood suites in Miami was my worst hotel stay experience ever.
The website on candlewood suites shows updated rooms and photos of everything being new. But when I walked in to the hotel, it was in a very dilapidated condition. The hallways were smelling of mildew and humidity and the rooms themselves needed repairs badly.
I have taken pictures of the actual hotel room assigned to me to as proof of this experience.
I had booked a two-bedroom suite with the reservation starting 31st December up to 5th January.
Since I was traveling with my 3-month-old and 4-year-old daughter and in, I had called the hotel several times in advance to hold my room until January 1st morning since that was the arrival time of my flight.
When I reached the hotel on January 1st, the reservation had already been canceled and my room was not reserved. So I had to wait for about 20 to 30 minutes while the front desk help find an alternative room. He finally ended up assigning us to rooms close by. With one of them having a bedroom and the other one being a studio.
I accepted that and walked into the lobby to my utter shock at the condition of the hotel and the difference in pictures advertised on the website versus reality.
When I opened the one bedroom suite, it must smelly. We tried to see if we could adjust there but then when we started using the restroom the bathroom wouldn't flush properly and the overall miserable state of the rooms ruin my entire vacation mood.
I packed up all my stuff and went to the front desk and complained that I could not stay in this room and wanted to check out immediately. The only silver lining in this experience was that the front desk was courteous enough to acknowledge the mistake and cancel my reservation.
The ease with which he accepted the bait n switch mistake claiming they don't know what is put up on the website left me a little suspicious of whether this had happened several times with the location already.
I then had to search for another stay in Miami from my car and ended up paying much more than my planned amount since it was a last minute booking.
In addition to this, this ruined my first day of vacation and caused an embarrassing situation in front...

Read moreIf you’re considering staying at Candlewood Suites, you might want to think twice. The experience can be frustrating, to say the least.
First, there’s no breakfast, which is a letdown for travelers expecting at least a basic morning meal. The internet? Constantly an issue. Whether it’s slow speeds, frequent outages, or just outright not working, it’s a major inconvenience—especially since there seems to be little to no awareness or urgency to fix it.
The property is under renovation, and it shows. Instead of a fresh, updated look, the hotel feels incomplete and disorganized. Parking is another headache—limited spots and poor layout make it more of a hassle than it should be.
And then there’s the smell. If you’re sensitive to odors, be prepared. The lingering scent of marijuana and cigarettes in the rooms can make your stay uncomfortable, and it doesn’t seem like the staff is doing much to address it.
Overall, if you’re looking for a smooth, hassle-free stay, you might want to explore...
