If I could give this a negative 10 stars I would!! I called ahead of time requesting a refrigerator in my room was assured no problem, arrived well problem they had none and could care less! The elevators well one didn't work the 3 days we were there and the one that worked would jump from one floor to the next very scary when it was used! No ice machines except on 1st floor, closed breakfast and coffee all the days early we were there! Parked on the side of the building right in front of the door that you had to use your door key to enter but wide open never locked, went to dinner came back before dark parked in same spot, other cars around us next morning went to leave for breakfast but CAR WAS STOLEN!!!! Let me say that again CAR WAS STOLEN!!!!!! Shocked and stunned went inside to advise the front desk and to ask about the camera that was right at the door, they could not have cared less. I had to ask them about the cameras and then they responded not sure if they work or not. Then again had to ask can you please help me, they dialed 911 and handed me the phone! No I'm sorry here's a bottle of water, may I do anything nope! Police show up filed report they still said no clue if that camera works! However there is a camera there except pointed up and away from parked cars.....someone that works there could be a suspect!!!!! Why bother having it unless you are going to report off what kind of cars are there so they can be stolen, cameras are not there for the guests!!! Then finally checked out of this place and guess what elevators are down technicians are working on it!!! Both of them so up and down the URINE SOAKED carpet stairwell and again no I'm very sorry for the inconvenience just where is your key to the room. Oh let's talk about the room, toilet didn't work, one bed had blood on the sheets and not stained but blood, air conditioner was cold but never sure if an airplane was coming in the room or just the AC, the plugs on the vanity didn't work so no other mirror in the room pretty tough to do hair and make up! And the days we were there they allow soliciting from ever pizza place in the area we had minimum of 5 flyers in the morning and evening another 5, again doors wide open no security or safety in this hotel AT ALL!!!!! Goodness knows what other solicitation they allow! I can not believe the worthless, heartless, lack of empathy that these sub par hospitality individuals have! Very sad! Never EVER AGAIN will I stay at not only this property but any other! I pray someone reads this and helps the unlucky individuals that may ever stay at this...
Read moreChecked in this morning and had to leave because it was awful, we don't even want to be there. The rooms are OK but not very clean and there is some questionable substance on the walls. The Wi-Fi does not work at all. I tried to ask the Front Desk staff for assistance but no one speaks English -- you are supposed to be directed to a website to connect but it does not work and keep receiving an error message that the line is not a secure connection. There are absolutely no restaurants or shopping close by -- the Front Desk staff also told me Sorry but there's nothing and showed me an ad for a food truck. There is a beautiful Embassy Suites next door and we may consider eating dinner and spending some time there. We ended up taking an Uber to Bayside Marketplace ($16, and 25 min ride) just to get out of there and we dread going back. On top of that, absolutely no security as there are vagrants roaming the halls and skipping food flyers under the room doors. I wish that we could be moved to an upgraded hotel -- I paid $394 for two nights and I made this reservation on January 6th!! Crazy! Never again will I book with a LaQuinta or a Wyndham. I cannot wait to fly home!! UPDATE: Had to change room keys 4 times because they would not work. Front Desk advised to pull door toward you tight so it was flush with frame and then try card. Perhaps they need new, more secure doors? Witnessed at least 6 other guests with same issue who also exchanged for new keys 3-4 times. Also update to my earlier post, there is one guy that speaks English that works the Front Desk at night, he is also not helpful and gives short, cocky answers. We have also had plumbing issues with the toilets and had to ask for a plunger. It seems the toilet paper is too thick to flush, so flush your #1 or #2 first and then the paper or don't flush the paper at all. There is a lack of electrical sockets in the rooms and the ones that are there are faulty. We have learned many trades on our two-night stay here. This hotel needs a complete gut...
Read moreWe're all looking to save a few bucks sometimes, and it's often worth the drop in quality. With the price of La Quinta Miami East, I could forgive the thin walls that let me hear the conversations next door (which, for those of us next to the break room, were especially loud). I could forgive the weird design that blocked off the rest of the room when you opened the bathroom door. I could forgive that the entire carpet was slightly damp for some reason. I could forgive the weird lack of pillows and any toiletries. I could forgive that the one computer that made up the business center was down. Since our stay was during Covid-19, I was also willing to forgive that the airport shuttle and free breakfast still being advertised online were not operational, and that the front desk was down to a single overloaded staff member.
What I could not forgive was the "fire alarm test" that started at 9am and was still continuing when I left at 11:30am. I don't mean a brief loud noise, or having to go out of the room: I mean a blaring call sounding for 15 seconds every 3 minutes. I did a decibel reading and it measured out at 84, which is a perfectly normal volume for an alarm that makes people leave the building but is well in the range to cause hearing damage to humans when it goes on for more than an hour, which it did. The big draw of this hotel was being pet-friendly, and my cats hid in terror during the full 2.5 hours of "it will be over very soon" that was all we could get out of the staff member at the reception desk.
This was apparently scheduled in advance, but nothing was told to the guests until the alarms started blaring and we all asked about evacuation. Not a single discount or placating measure was offered as guest after guest asked what was going on.
We checked into the Hyatt next door for $15 more a night and carried our traumatized cats over while the alarms were still blaring. The Hyatt's rooms are clean and quiet and I highly recommend spending the extra money to go there instead of this...
