I had to stay overnight in Miami due to a delay in my flight with American Airlines. But my flight left at 7:00AM in the morning and I wanted to have the most convenient access to the airport. From my previous experiences in Miami, most airports have shuttles, but don't have 24 hour services.
So I decided to choose the Holiday Inn at Miami International Airport for their 24 hour Free Shuttle service that runs every 30 minutes.
The Holiday Inn was VERY basic. I'm happy that I'm using a free voucher for this stay. My previous stay was at the ELEMENT and it was definitely more comfortable, but doesn't have 24 hour shuttle service; you'll have to catch an Uber that will be a 12 minute ride to the airport.
Their Free shuttle arrives on Floor 2 in front of the Departure doors of American Airlines at the airport. Although the staff in the airport told me to wait at the MIDDLE AISLE in the road, this is NOT where their shuttle arrives. Keep this in mind and also note that it arrives every 30 Minutes. The ride to the hotel is under 10 minutes with traffic and makes for a quick commute.
My check-in was late at night and I was greeted promptly and serviced quick. I will note that, when called on the phone from the airport, the service was just as good.
I was assigned to room 724 and it was on the 7th floor in the nearby building and unfortunately their elevators were not working. This means that I had to take the elevators up to the 8th floor, walk down the hallway and crossover to adjacent building, go down some stairs and back into the 7th floor. Although it only took an extra 8-10 minutes, I must note that I was only traveling with a small carry-on bag.
My room was ok; simple; basic; and served its purpose. There wasn't much of a view (I didn't really care). But it had a king-sized bed. It was comfortable and I can appreciate the charging ports on the table next to the bed.
I didn't use the showers, so I have no comment to much of the bathroom. I will note that their sink faucet is setup rather interestingly and encouraged water spilling on the countertop.
I slept. In the morning, I commuted back to the entrance and left.
Again, I must note that their Free Shuttle leaves/arrives every 30 Minutes of the hour. Keep this in mind when planning your commute.
Overall, when it comes to this Holiday Inn, I probably wouldn't pay more than $90 for a stay here, but if using a free voucher and only staying overnight for an early morning flight, it...
Read moreMy recent stay at the Holiday Inn Miami Airport was far from the relaxing pre-flight experience I had hoped for, leaving me disappointed and determined to look elsewhere in the future.
The first issue arose at the front desk, where we were given incorrect information regarding the airport shuttle. This misinformation led to a stressful and chaotic morning at the airport around 6 am, which is the last thing any traveler needs before a flight.
Transportation provided by the hotel added to our troubles. The shuttle service, which should be a convenience, turned into a concern when the driver demonstrated a lack of knowledge on how to properly load luggage, resulting in several suitcases being dropped. Such carelessness with personal belongings is unacceptable and adds unnecessary stress to any journey.
While the rooms at the Holiday Inn Miami Airport were spacious, the bathroom size was shockingly inadequate, reminiscent more of a broom closet than a bathroom. This stark contrast in room dimensions was baffling and far from what one would expect in terms of comfort and convenience.
The general cleanliness and ambiance of the hotel were also below par. The hallway to our room had an unpleasant odor that was hard to ignore, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere right from the start. Hoping for a reprieve, we ventured out to the pool area, only to be met with disappointment again. The pool environment was not inviting, prompting an immediate return indoors.
Given these experiences, I would advise future travelers to consider alternative accommodations. The same financial outlay could secure a much more enjoyable stay in downtown Miami, where the added expense of a private shuttle to the airport would be well worth the investment for a significantly better pre-flight experience.
Overall, my stay at the Holiday Inn Miami Airport was marked by a series of letdowns, from service and amenities to the general state of the hotel. It’s clear that improvements are needed to meet the expectations of guests looking for a comfortable and hassle-free start to...
Read moreWe booked the Holiday Inn through ParkSleepFly from April 9 to April 14, 2024. We had an early flight and needed to find a place to stay for one night. And leave our car. Plus, they offered free parking for 6 days. And we got a great deal!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn located at 1111 South Royal Poinciana Blvd in Miami, Florida. And our choice was based on proximity to the airport, shuttle availability and hotel amenities.
The hotel staff were professional and greeted us with a smile. Check in was a breeze. The rooms were clean. The location was great! Plus, we were only 2 miles from the airport. And we did not have to worry about leaving to eat dinner. Because the hotel had a bar and a restaurant with a great view.
First, we had happy hour in the bar. Then we walked across the floor into the restaurant to have dinner. We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Orlando and Ana, our server. We received great service in the restaurant. And the staff did an excellent job in accommodating my celiac disease and soy allergy. In fact, the chef came out to talk to me about what options I could have. I got tomato and mozzarella salad and salmon with steamed vegetables. My husband got a Habana Burger with French fries. Dinner was delicious! And the service was excellent. The entire staff was friendly.
The next day the shuttle picked us up at 6:00 am to take us to the airport. Then picked us up at 6:00 pm when we returned from our trip. And our car was secure in the parking lot. But just a quick note. There are two Holiday Inns. So please pay attention to the address written on the shuttles.
I highly recommend the Holiday Inn! It is the best way to go! We chose the right hotel for an affordable price. Plus, it was convenient and...
