TownePlace Suites by Marriott Scranton Wilkes-Barre — Hotel in Moosic

I stayed here for 1 night. Room and kitchen was decent. Beds were ok and the living room furnature was ugly but not too uncomfortable. My overall rating would be a negative rating thanks to 1 employee name Vivian (I was told thay was her name) she was doing the breakfast that morning. So when I got down to get a waffle made the waffle batter dispenser filled only half of the cup that needed filled. And it stopped. I walked over to the front desk and asked the nice lady if she can either help me or have someone help me becaus the waffle batter dispenser was either empty or clogged. So she had said she will go with me because she wasnt busy. She tried to push the button and it wasnt coming out she did open the font of the dispenser and removed the panel. And it started working only if it was tilted. So she said here fill your cups and ill put the panel back on. I said ok thanks. Then another guest came and needed assistance and she said she will be back after she helps the other guest and will bring the panel back. I said ok.

Then about 1 minute or 2 later Vivian walked in holding scrambled eggs to put into the holder. And she started raising her voice telling me that I was not allowed to touch the machinery and remove the panel. I said nicely the lady at the front desk was helping me and before I could explain any further she was raising her voice more. I did raise my voice and said "you need to listen so I can tell you where it is and what happend" Vivian got even more mad yelling and this time her hands were in my face!!!! My husband comes over and asked what was going on and I told him to get a manager We eneded up at the front desk waitimg because the lady was helping someone. So we waited. While we waited Vivian walked behind the counter of the reception where we were and there was a wall she stood partically behind the wall talking to someone behind that wall speaking spanish about me. My husband spoke up in spanish telling her she was wrong for talking about me and pointed to me when shes my wife. Vivians color drained from her face and I never saw someone turn so white. The lady at the front desk retuened and I requested a manager and she said sure whats the problem so she can tell the manager. As i started talking Vivian interrupted. After she spoke the front desk lady was able to verify my story and explained to her that I asked her for help and she was the one who took the panel off and she still has it and was going to put it back on. And Vivian knew she was wrong when our stories matched up and Vivian didnt say sorry or anything but got louder saying she was gonna lose her job and thatthe front desk lady was taking sides with me. She even went on to say how her health is bad. I spoke up and said Your health??? You brought this on not me. What about my health. I have high blood pressure, didnt eat yet and didnt have my blood pressure meds yet. And here I am with my blood pressure boiling because of you. You best be thankful I didnt pass out in the floor due to blood pressure.

I did speak to the general manager James Parks on Monday morning. He seemed nice although he seemed more aggrivated at the situation. I do hope he will handle the situation correctly, because it was truely not something anyone at their hotel should have to go thru at all. I am posting pictures of the room and Vivian. Our first impression was that the front desk employee was unprofessionally dressed and did not greet us when we approached her to check in. After we were handed over our room keys, one of our first questions was where is the pool located? At that point we were told that the pool was not in service and they had no idea when it would be available. That information wasn't made known on the hotels website when we booked. We made it to our room dropped off all of our luggage and headed out for the evening. When we returned that night someone had broken the 1st floor elevator buttons. When we settled in for the night, we noticed that the restroom toilet was not properly cleaned. We have photos of fecal matter around the toilet under the lid. We called the front desk immediately for housekeeping and we were told that it was too late because it was almost midnight. We were offered a king size room for the night. We agreed and packed up but also explained that we needed the two bedroom suite because we were bringing our children to the hotel the next day. We called the front desk in the morning from room 410 and asked if room 331 had been cleaned, because we wanted to transfer our luggage back to the old room instead of taking it with us. But we were told it wasn't done yet maybe by noon. So we repacked all of our luggage again and loaded up to go pick up our children. When we returned to the hotel at 6pm we were shocked to see that room 331 still had not been cleaned.They had more than enough time to fix this problem. We spoke to Kim at front desk who went to get her Manager from another hotel. They said someone is immediately going over to room 331 to clean the bathroom. Kim asked me to write down the old and new room #'s on a yellow post-it, which I did. Unfortunately we didn't know how long it would take for them to complete this task, so we took our kids out to dinner. All while having a car full of luggage and lots groceries for the fridge, that was spoiling and may no longer be edible. We returned 2 hrs later only to find out that room 331 STILL had not been cleaned. This was unbelievable so we took more pictures. The front desk Manager said housekeeping cleaned the wrong room. Someone sent them to room 410. How could that happen when I clearly wrote the room #'s down as asked and also they should already have all of this information in the system. It was terrible. The lady at the front desk had an attitude from the second we walked in there. We had to go back down to the front desk to get new keys because the ones we had would not open our door to our room. And this was after walking the entire length of the hallway to get to our room because the lady didn’t bother to tell us there was another door and another elevator closer to our room. Once inside, after about 30 tries with the NEW room key, we discovered the oven was a complete mess! No way was it cleaned after the last person stayed there. The stove and the ovens outside were also grease splattered and there was a half used, old roll of paper towels still on the paper towel holder. That is FAR from sanitary! There was hair on the bathroom floor, in the bathroom sink and in the first drawer of the kitchen cabinet where the blow dryer was, which was laying on top of the bag it was suppose to be in. So I am assuming that was not cleaned or sanitary either. The kitchen table has a grove around it that was full of old food and crumbs from previous people eating on it. The metal bed frame was longer than the actual mattress, which I ran into a number of times while trying to maneuver around the bedroom because you couldn’t see it due to a bed skirt used to cover it up. The spare pillow, that was in the first bedrooms closet, had no pillow case on it at all and what looked like pet hair all over it. The second bedroom window was open when we arrived. But we didn’t notice it until hours after being there because the curtain was closed. We just kept feeling cold air and couldn’t find the source. The thermostat on the wall had to be turned off and turned back on again several times before it was actually blowing heat. My husband brought his Xbox with him but could not play it because the volume on the TV could not be controlled when the Xbox was hooked up. I am almost positive it said something on the website about the room being hard wired in. That is why we brought the Xbox to begin with, however I could not get any internet connection at all while there. My daughter was going to sleep on the pull out couch, however when we opened it, there was crumbs on the mattress from someone that had definitely eaten while sitting on it and there was not a fitted sheet available to use on it.
