I read through all the comments and had to find humor in them all. I would agree with most of them. The customer service is lacking, the owner is disagreeable, rude, and really has no concern with how you feel you have been treated. I would say she has one worker in the store that I find to be very pleasurable and helpful! I was taken back by how the owner treated her employee. She seriously snapped at her over a shop module on the wall i wanted to purchase the pattern for. Let me say the pattern was not cheap nor did I care. I liked it!!!! I told her I would come back if I wanted to order it (mostly because of how horrible she treated her employee). NEVER mind though found it on the internet from the designer herself HALF price ladies. Since it is the holidays I think that Ebenezer Scrooge might define the owner very well.
My first experience with this store was as someone visiting from out of state. She was extremely helpful and while taken back by the GIANT mess she was nice.
My second experience she was pretty nice I ordered a quilt set she designed (not so sure about that). I asked the size of the quilt. she said oh its normal size. After several attempts to get the size I ordered the quilt block set because I loved the colors. Later to discover that it was a twin. Not what I wanted. Attempted 3 times to go back and understand how she cut the borders, and see if she could help me get fabric to make it bigger. More sales right!! Once she said you will need to come back I am alone, next time you need to wait and I don't know how long I will be, could be an hour. Okay to cut a couple of fabrics for a lady. I left!
I did return because looking for fabrics to make my sons quilts and its about my boys not her.
Then had my experience above with her being rude to her employee. Have since found some online fabrics BATIKS For those interested! you can get this online. I know the experience isn't the same but its tough to support someone who treats her customers, staff, and who knows who else this way.
You will find tons of fabric, there are even several patterns. I will say ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK! Honestly how they pass fire code is beyond me. My daughter refers to it as the hoarders business and says the TV Show could make a whole new episode based on this store alone.
Will I go back if I can't find what need somewhere else yes. I will pray for her because after all something must be wrong for someone to be so rude. Here are my recommendations off my experience. If you are going for customer service not your store. If you want fabrics its there maybe 5 bolts of the same (my daughter counted LOL). If you are looking for patterns then there is a nice pattern book section at the front just past the heaping mounds of fabric rolls, bolts and stacks of something. there is a nice batiks section at the back past the lions den and through the fat quarter forest. Fabrics include anything from civil war designs, batiks, children's, and you name it. Enjoy treasure hunts then you have scored...
Read moreI have to say, I almost didn't go given some of the reviews here. Then I missed the turn and almost gave up. I'm so glad I didn't. HOLY COW!!! The selection of high quality quilt cottons is unbelievable (AGF, Kaffe, Moda, etc.). I can usually stroll through a new-to-me store in a few minutes and pick up something fun (or not). I went up and down EVERY aisle!
Had a lovely conversation with one of the gals working there (wish I'd gotten her name - so kind!) and chatted with Myra a bit as well. She was delightful.
I do think signage could help (though I still would have wandered up and down Every. Single. Aisle!). Some manufacturers are displayed all together, while others are combined into colorways or themes. Books and patterns looked like they may still be a work in progress - but there is a LOT to choose from. We all organized differently and that's fine, but signage could help a newbie find what they're looking for a little more efficiently.
Some cute touches - the way she folds her fat quarter bundles are unique (to me).
It was busy (pre Quilt Week in Paducah, so lots of road-trippers passing through). Only one cutting table, which does lead to waiting. But there's always something inspiring to look at on the walls, or a conversation to be had with fellow quilters that make me not mind the wait.
As I am just here for work this week - from Minnesota, and am very disappointed that I can't become a regular. My checking account, however will remain intact a...
Read moreUPDATE! Ten months after my first review at the bottom of this message I was honest about how they rip the fabric instead cutting it. Then they left a reply, saying that they were working toward cutting fabric. So today, I figured I would try them again. I had picked out six bolts of fabric that I wanted pieces cut from, approached the table and asked the lady politely can I get my pieces cut? Mind you, she was holding scissors in her hand! She looked at me, shook her head and said nope we cannot cut the fabric! Then she proceeded to aggressively argue with me about how ripping was totally acceptable! Needless to say, I declined purchasing anything and will not be back. Such a shame because they have nice Quilting fabric, but I do not understand this obstinance and poor customer service. Below is my previous review 10 months ago.
July 2023 They have a wonderful selection of fabric, but instead of going to the cutting table for your yardage, you go to the ripping table. They rip your fabric instead of using a rotary cutter or scissors. The photo I’m showing is a piece that I cut off of my yardage. The left side of the strip is what I cut with the rotary cutter, nice, clean edges, and no stretching the fabric. the edge on the right side of the strip is what they ripped off. The fabric is badly stretched during this process as evidenced by the fabric itself. Which one would you...
