My daughter brought me here because she really enjoyed her 1st visit but both of us stated we wont be going back. We ordered Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, a Strawberry Field Salad (salad was excellent) & a side of Spatzel. Everything was mediocre at best. The Spatzel had absolutely zero flavor (typically Spatzel is served with some kind of gravy or sauce). Our server Jelissa suggested an order of Jaeger gravy & that did the trick although we were charged $2 for that gravy. We substituted our biscuit with the Spatzel but had to pay another $2 for that as well even though both items have similar ingredients & biscuits are more labor intensive than Spatzle? Not good. the most interesting part of our visit was the lack of service. It was not a Covid shortage excuse. Just plain terrible service. Hostess was fine but our server was horrendous. She needs to be trained on the sequence of service as well as how to read a table. Her opening line was "hi, are you ready to order?" We asked if there were any specials & all she replied was "no" & just stood there looking at us. I asked for a few more minutes & ordered drinks. We were still looking at their extensive menu & she came back not a minute later & asked again "if we were ready to order" & we asked what the quiche & soup of the day which she told us & both of us were wondering why Jelissa wouldn't tell us that in her opening remarks, especially when we asked if there were any specials? We told her we were still reading the menu (FYI- when customers close menus or set them down then they are ready). Felt like I was trying to give Jelissa some pointers. We asked for the check when we were almost done because we had to be somewhere & that's when things got worse. She dropped the check off timely but never came back. We watched her standing just past our table behind a half wall talking to a man for what seemed like forever. We were getting very anxious & moving around alot to get her attention but she never looked at her section as she was visiting with this other employee. We wondered if we should pay up front & if our service was done at that point. We asked hostess to get Jelissa's attention & that's when she came over but we were so frustrated at that point. Now here's our favorite part of the quality of service-not only did she fail to ask if we had time for dessert but a good server will NEVER leave every single dirty dish on the table as she collects $ from us. I couldn't take it & when she brought our receipt back & turned to walk away I asked if she could please take some of our dirty dishes away? Shame on you Fork n' Spoon. I don't like to leave negative reviews because sometimes things just happen & being a previous GM for a successful restaurant, poor service skills is inexcusable. It pains me to leave a 10% tip. We are the 50% or above tippers but not this day. Hopefully this restaurant will use this review as a good training tool for their staff. My daughter is a server at another restaurant in the area & she said her place pays people to secretly 'shop' her business & she would've been in trouble if she waited on her...

Update March 7, 2025

The service was excellent but the cook was having an off night. The food was not bad. It just was not as good as usual. I had a burger with roasted potatoes and broccoli. The burger and potatoes were over cooked and the broccoli was under cooked.

My friend and son both had the chicken fried chicken and their food looked a little over cooked as well.

However, my wife tried the Texas Schnitzel for the first time and it was so good she ate it all. Normally she takes at least half of her food home. The queso was really good as always.

Update 11/30/2024

They continue to deliver outstanding service and delicious food. I tried the burger for something different and I was not disappointed. The burger patty was fresh made, not frozen. My wife had the California chicken sandwich and she said it was really good. Our server did an outstanding job as well.

Update 12/21/2023

We went for breakfast and the food is still consistently very good. My wife and I both had omelets and they were very good and very filling. My dad had a blueberry pancake and one was enough to fill him up. The service was about average. Our server had too many tables though. Overall it was really good.

We went for lunch May 20, 2022. We started with the queso and it was quite good. I had the Texas Schnitzel with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The Schnitzel and the mashed potatoes were excellent. The broccoli was way under cooked. It almost tasted raw. My mother-in-law had the Ruben sandwich with potato salad.

The server told her when she ordered that it was warm potato salad, German style. She didn't like either one but they looked really good to me. The sandwich has a lot of meat and Sourcrowd

I am so glad the wait was too long at another restaurant. We came here instead on a recommendation and it was great! The queso was really good. I had a breakfast skillet that was quite tasty. My wife had biscuits and gravy that were outstanding. We took some pancakes home because our breakfasts were more than enough without them. To top it off Sarah gave us...

Local here. I have to preface by stating that the other times that I have patronized this establishment, the food and service has been top-notch. I will also say that I have never had this server before. She suggested she take our drink order as well as our food order (we were there WELL before closing time). So we went ahead and ordered. The entire time we ordered she kept interrupting trying to hurry our order. I didn't order any special restrictions or anything, just wanted to add a couple of extra sides. This server had absolutely no patience. We put in our order (just two of us) and she came back with our drinks. Shortly after she came back with our food, which was amazing. Food is always great, prices are also great...but I never saw our server again until she wanted to bring us the check. I even put both my coffee and water cup at the edge of the table so maybe someone would get a hint; nothing. She finally came back with the check and I asked her for coffee and water refills. So sad. I STILL left 20%, but I just have to leave a review about this because any other time that we've had a different server...excellent service. Today, just not so. So hopefully you don't get the server I had today because your experience will be shotty, unfortunately. Also tiny detail, and this just might be a pet peeve; they keep sweeping near me while I'm eating (which I think is not sanitary). I also witnessed another server get into an altercation with some would-be customers because they wouldn't seat an incomplete party (even though he kept explaining that he was going to order for that person), during a time when the restaurant wasn't exactly full.

Sidenote, pancakes rock, so does the Montecristo (French) toast...omelettes are delicious!

I hope this young lady gets her act together...

Food was great, but service... my family was seated and weren't helped for about 15 minutes, no drink orders or anything. We'd get looks from various waiters/waitresses, but that was it. There was either some confusion on who was supposed to wait our table, or another waitress simply decided to jump in after realizing we weren't helped yet. I can't remember if the folks who were seated next to us and the other group of folks the next table over all had their orders taken, before us or not. Either way, they arrived long after we did, received their food way before we did, and were able to leave and have their tables cleaned while we were only midway through our meal. 'Tis worth mentioning that my coffee came with a side of lipstick (photos are of the mug after I had wiped it the first time), though I simply switched hands and drink from the other side. I mention it because someone cares, I don't. Also, I like my coffee black, not blue. The young lady cleaning our neighboring tables misted some windex (or whatever that blue cleaner was) over onto our table's almost-finished food and drink like the New Braunfels summer morning dew. Maybe I'm exaggerating some, but we felt the mist on our skin. There was no one on the opposite side of the tables she was cleaning, so I am having trouble understanding why she couldn't spray in the opposite direction... teenagers. Maybe the bad-service stars aligned directly with our table for that hour, but at least brunch was good, nothing special.

Ok, I was hungry and couldn’t take the pic of my Chicken Fried Steak BEFORE I tore into it! Tracy was our server and described the CFS when asked as a hand battered and dipped delight! She had me at hand battered! My wife and I go to Fork & Spoon fairly often but have never tried the CFS. I had the breakfast plate which was CFS, potatoes, two eggs and a biscuit. I added two strips of bacon as well. Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs Plate 9/10 - the CFS was VERY good!! It was a thicker cut of tenderized meat (which I like) that was really hand breaded. The flavor of the meat and crust was excellent. Fairly tender and not over crusted. I’m a CFS snob and this was one of the best ones I’ve ever had! The eggs were ordered over medium and they were spot on. Potatoes were tasty. The biscuit came out fluffy and hot. Bacon is always good there! Service 8/10 - Tracy always takes care of us when we are in her section. Always friendly, attentive and smiling. To be fair, everyone that has ever waited on us there is the same way. Atmosphere 8/10 - we love sitting by the fireplace in the cooler months. Very cozy. If not by the fire, the booths are comfortable. It’s got a charm to it that seems inviting. Overall 8/10 - we definitely recommend Fork and Spoon as a must try restaurant in New Braunfels!! You won’t be disappointed with their extensive menu options.

Walking in the door, you can't help but relax for a wonderful meal. The Fork & Spoon is just farm-house-y and rustic enough to relax, but it is not overpowering....perfect. When it comes to food - 10 for 10. We tried the Julienne Eggs Benedict and the Brisket Stuffed Omlette, and both were EGGSELENT!! The brisket in the omolette was the outer bark of the brisket (or cooked to be bark - just as good!), and it was phenomenal!! With cheese baked into it, it was like a low-carb brisket quesadilla. Fan-dam-tastic! The Eggs Bennie was one of the best ever....requested extra hollandaise sauce and boy did the kitchen deliver! Now, a note on the unsung hero of most meals - the bread. We ordered sourdough toast with the brisket omlette and I dunno where it's baked, but I will find out. Awesome sourdough toast! The English muffin with the Eggs Benedict was toasted dark. A bit too dark in spots, honestly. But that dark toasting imparted an AMAZING flavor! Beyond the meal, the service was exceptional....quik to have our coffee and water, one of the friendliest waitresses I've encountered recently, and just....good. 5 out of 5 stars. Put the Fork and Spoon on your list!! Update over a year later - still amazing!!
