I was very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The room was comfy and very modern. The cleanliness was above reproach. Our room had a full kitchen which was a pleasant surprise, including plates, utensils, etc. The bathroom was exquisitely modeled with a large singing shower with full glass sliding doors. Shower was large enough for 4 average adults! I worried about noise being so close to the hospital and the interstate but there was very little noise once inside. The view from our room was spectacular with the Mississippi in the background along with a somewhat view of the French Quarter. The rooftop terrace which is open all night gave a wonderful view of the entire city! Safety was paramount with fully locked doors and keyed entry doors and elevators. Parking wasnt as inconvenient as I imagined. We were able to park in the lot adjacent to the hotel for much less than other hotels were charging. Our room gave us a view of the lot which was reassuring but not all rooms would have that view. This was a 2 star hotel but the luxurious design and superb staff deserve a higher rating. This is a NO frills hotel if you are looking for a pool, valet parking, or spa treatments. However, within a 10 minute walking distance you would pass 5 massage parlors, several restaurants, a few drug and convenience stores, as well as puting yourself on Bourbon Street. Also, the streetcar out front will take you anywhere for $1.25 (no change given). Also, several places deliver food all 24 hours. I did not have a good experience with that, but NOT the hotels fault. Covid has shut down their breakfast so be prepared for that. I believe our front desk as attendant was named DeJon and her demeanor was excellent. She made me feel so welcomed after a long drive. I would consider that she gave me first class service. I'm an elementary public school teacher, so I have never stayed at a 5 star hotel for comparison, but this IS the best hotel I've ever stayed at in all my travels throughout the US. I highly recommend this hotel over any of the high dollar hotels that were closer to the French Quarter. Considering what we paid for room and parking, it was a steal! And if you aren't worried about your vehicle, you could save about $10/night to park it 3 blocks away on another lot, but the convenience of seeing it was worth the $ for me. Easy reservation, easy check-in, and easy check out. Luxury for the average person definitely. Highly...
Read moreNo one really seems to care much about the property or quality of service delivered, except for maybe the valet attendant and one or two of the front desk people. Maintenance/engineering seem to address repairs about half the time. I reported several maintenance issues to the front desk multiple times and they weren't addressed, so I just gave up on them. A little preventative maintenance will go a long way in keeping things in running order. The air filter in my AC is completely full of dust, it was well beyond it's due for a change. I was wondering why I was sneezing all night, and I took that filter out (swapped it with the one from the other room) and my sneezing stopped. Housekeeping does a mediocre at best job. All dishes had to be washed when I arrived, as some still had food and grease on them. Half the kitchen items were missing from both rooms I was in (different floors and different items missing in each). And you can tell the drawers are never wiped, as they're full of food debris and crumbs. The floors are obviously not mopped (or not enough), but just swept. The ottoman was disgusting and full of grease stains, the sofa full of glitter. Not an easy fix by any means, but the windows don't insulate for sound at all; and being right against the interstate... It's a beautiful view but you hear the traffic (motocycles, trucks, ambulances, etc) all night. I've stayed at plenty of properties off interstates and have never been able to hear the constant sound of freeway traffic from everywhere in my room (except for maybe the bathroom). Getting decent sleep at this property from the highway noise alone has been a challenge to say the least. Breakfast is another issue. The selection of foods is lacking, as well as the lack of hot breakfast items. Please stop blaming poor service on the pandemic. Other properties seem to be able to figure it out, it's unacceptable at this point. Also, if your sign says breakfast is served on a weekend day until 10am, when I come down at 9:50AM I don't expect the doors to be closed and told that breakfast is actually until 9:30AM when this sign says 10. Not the best way to start your day, after not sleeping much cause of the freeway noise all night. Don't recommend this property with the serious issues it seems to face in terms of hard product, lack of proper maintenance, cleanliness and overall service. Spend your...
Read moreThis is the first time that we (being my girlfriend and I) had stayed at a towneplace hotel. When we first walked in we were in love with the interior, one can tell it is a new hotel with modern designs. The front desk is past the elevators and sitting area. If one would look to the left, they’d see the bar and more seats. To the left there’s a little room with a couch and some Apple computers. We get to the front desk where the lovely lady (whose name I can’t for the life of me remember) welcomed us and gave us our upgraded room. Before we headed up, the front desk lady struck up a conversation with us. We are locals that live about 30min away from New Orleans, but we just needed a getaway. She recommended us places to eat at, and things to do. She gave us our keys, and we headed to the elevators. They have also have a nice little market next to the front desk where you can get some medicine, snacks, drinks, and frozen meals. All of the items will be over priced, but well needed if you don’t feel like walking to the Walgreens which is about an 8 minute walk. We got inside the elevator, and it was the first time either of us had seen an elevator that needed access through room key alone. We loved that feature it made us feel safe. We got to our corner room, we walked in to see a nice little kitchen, the bathroom with beautiful countertops and shower. The bed was nicely made, and it faces the two huge windows that showed the city beautiful. The tv hung from the wall with the ability to move it to your liking with closet right next to it. The room was fantastic except for the fact that you hear every siren that goes off on the interstate and canal street. We went their rooftop bar The Vue, and got two bud lights and one coke which cost 6.75 with the happy hour deal. The rooftop was beautiful and the bartender was friendly. The only downside to the hotel as a whole was the fact that the breakfast was mediocre at best. We only ate the breakfast for one morning, and we were left wanting more. This hotel is situated only 18 minutes away walking from bourbon street, 22 minutes walking from the French quarter. It is cheaper to walk everywhere for parking is expensive. Despite the two small downsides to this hotel, everything else was wonderful. The next time we are in New Orleans we will be staying here, and we can’t wait to try another towneplace outside of...
