Beware of this hotel!! I will not stay here ever again. The service here was awful. From housekeeping not cleaning our rooms two days in a row to being charged for a room that I did not stay in. I highly recommend that you not stay here because the service is awful. When I did call to discuss the issues of my stay I was promised a call back from the front desk manager (Coreyen) and days would go by and I never received a call back. On 3 separate occasions I had to call the front desk manager back because he failed to reach back out to me. The customer service at this hotel is very poor. Lets not mention the very bad experience I had upon check in which security scolded me for not waiting to ask for a late check out (I had planned to call from my cell phone). For more details please see below:
I stayed here for four nights and on the second day of my stay room was not serviced. I didn't have a signed on my door so I could not understand why the two rooms I booked were not cleaned (1404 & 1405). I called the front desk and inquired why the rooms were not serviced and they did not have any idea. They also told me that housekeeping was gone for the day and that my room could not be cleaned. The front desk person did offer complimentary breakfast passes. I accepted but was still disappointed that the trash was not removed, the towels replaced, and the bed made. The next day I was out for most of the day and returned around 6:30pm and the room(s) had not been cleaned once again. I once again called the front desk and asked why this was the case. He was not sure. I pretty much demanded that my room be clean. I am paying for an experience and thus far its been disappointing. After the front desk called housekeeping someone did eventually clean both room but I should not have to chase down housekeeping to get both rooms cleaned.
I went to the front desk to ask for a late check out for a colleague of mine. Max (security guy standing next to the front desk) asked if he could help me but when I mentioned the late check out he pointed and said he'll be able to help you once he's off the phone. At this point my Uber to the airport pulled up so I walked away and decided I'll just call the hotel from the Uber. But before I get the the Uber Max walked outside and asked me why I walked away. I told him my Uber is here and I would call the hotel in the Uber. He then scolded me and told me the Uber works for me and I should have waited. He mention that the Uber can wait the 5 minutes. It felt like I was being reprimanded. it was totally inappropriate and rude and left a really bad taste in my month for this hotel. Not sure I would stay here again based on these incidents.
Lastly, on the day I checked in, I was told I had 3 rooms. One of which was already checked into (room 1404). I proceeded to check into the other two rooms (1405 and 1205). At this point we had a class to teach so we drop off our bags and went to teach our class. When we returned room 1205 roommate had arrived and thats when we discovered the event organized had booked a room under the roommates name and room 1205 was no longer needed. I went to the front desk and explained that this third room was checked into by accident and will no longer be needed. I also stated that room was virtually untouched, as no one slept in the bed and we would not be need it. I was told that’s perfectly fine and we hand over the keys. The Hilton Canopy charge my credit card for the room despite not actually staying in the room. I called 5 times last week once I realize the mistake and all I kept getting was the run around or no answers. I was finally able to speak to someone and was told I would be a call back from the manager. Since then I have been promised call back and have had to call back my self because days have gone by and the manager has not reached out. They dont care about their customers and it shows. Save your self the stress and...
Read moreI booked a stay with Canopy by Hilton New Orleans Downtown because its price, location, new vibe, and reviews via Yelp and Expedia fit what I was looking. Out of three other hotels I noted, Canopy was the cheapest, yet highly rated. One thing I loved about its location was that it sat within range of all things of my interest in New Orleans. As of late, I have been highly intrigued by hotels with colorful exteriors which not only add a new vibe but contribute to my anticipation of visiting. Since this hotel is on the uprise there is a lack in reviews, so with that I booked in expectation of nothing less than a great experience. The Yelp reviews read were quality enough to persuade me into booking. And during the time booked, Canopy had a rating of 4.1 out of 5 via Expedia.
My experience with the receptionist behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already paid for, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a short briefing of what the hotel offers, and giving me my room key. The receptionist was even so kind as to give me a New Orleans sweet potato praline cookie. For your information check-in starts at 4:00PM, and check-out ends at 11:00AM.
My initial impression was, Aww! This room is beautiful! It was very decorative and colorful with colors that match the city's jazz music persona. I must say that I loved the welcome sign with my name featured on the television. It is the little things like that why hotels get good reviews from me. This is the first hotel I have stayed at with both a trash and recycling receptacle inside of the room.
The room met my cleanliness standards! Comfort wise, there were no issues whatsoever sleeping in the king-sized bed during my stay. Not once did I wake up as my head was engulfed in-between the comfortable pillows. The shower was okay! I say okay because I was not too fond of the shower head design, but I did feel clean after showering. I must say that I loved that they had lavender hygiene products like lotion, shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to with no connectivity issues during my stay.
There is a restaurant known as Ginger ROUX where you can purchase drinks at the bar/lounge. It was one of the amenities I had no interest in during my stay, but it did add a nice spiffy touch to the hotel. As far as my times in-and-out of the hotel, I do not believe I saw any of the guests utilizing its bar/lounge other than for a meeting. I likely would have checked it out, if I felt it were vegan friendly or let alone if the menu was more publicized in the rooms. It always pains me to go out and get my food when hotels have accessible restaurants attached.
There are plentiful sights, activities, restaurants, and shopping centers within a mile radius of Canopy. Some that I experienced and noted were Fulton Street, French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, The Caesars Superdome, The World-Famous Museum of Death, Canal Place, Harrah's, and Louis Armstrong Park.
I would book with Canopy by Hilton New Orleans Downtown again because not only did the hotel meet my comfort needs, but its location is within a fitting distance from attractions that have my interest in New...
Read moreThis hotel was such a disappointment given that we've been so pleased with our stay on several occasions in other cities. We were hopeful that we'd get the same service but unfortunately we got the opposite. ||We stayed here November 29 through December 1 and upon our arrival, we pull up to the valet. There are numerous cars parked in front so we assumed that the valets were busy given the fact that there were so many people in town for Bayou Classic weekend. The city was packed so we had no problem waiting. After about 15 min of waiting and seeing no cars moving and no valets at the valet kiosk, my husband decides to get out and at least check us in so that we can get our room keys. As he's checking us in, several other travelers decide to come inside as well bc they're tired of waiting too. At this point, the flow of traffic is impeded bc there are so many cars piled up in front of the hotel. I go back outside while my husband is at the front desk to move the truck in the event that the valet's finally come back. After about 10 minutes, two valets come around the corner and stand at the valet kiosk. At no point do the come to the next car in line to move it. They just proceed to stand at the kiosk and play on their phones. One guy in line, gets out of his car and angrily asks what's going on and the valet nonchalantly tells him that he can pull around. The other valet is moving a car, so I decide to move up since I'm next in line. By that time, my husband comes outside to ask the same valet if they're parking cars and the guy says yes and then he decides to give my husband the valet card and takes our keys. The entire valet process was terrible. The next day we scanned the QR code and texted the number to have our truck brought around to the front at least 40 min ahead of when we needed it, only to come downstairs to no vehicle and another valet standing at the kiosk on his phone. When my husband asked about our truck, only then did the valet check the system, grab the keys, and leave to retrieve our vehicle. There we no other cars or travelers waiting for their vehicles so the excuse that they were busy couldn't be used. None of the guys seemed to be moving with intention and everything was completed on their own time.||We stayed in room 310 and the water pressure in the shower was non existent. The water from the showerhead moved at a trickle at best with the majority of the water flowing from the main faucet. The water wouldn't get warm at all, so we were all forced to shower in lukewarm water all weekend. The floors in the bathroom weren't clean and there was one microwave on our floor for all floors in the hotel. The key cards worked when they wanted as one night we could use them to access the elevators but not to access our room and the exact opposite the next night. It was aggravating to say the least. ||The front desk staff was helpful and very nice but I don't think we will stay here again. |While I understand that this was a super busy weekend, there's no excuse when we're paying in excess of...
