I had the most disrespectful and most prejudice encounter in my life with Ms. Eva. I’ve never been more degraded in my life Eva had only one job and that was to print out my tickets and give me a wristband to enter the cemetery tour. Not only was she absolutely rude but made a derogatory comment towards my Italian culture. This was all because I had a question in regards to my ticket, exclaiming “ my job isn’t to help you find out how to pull up your code for the tickets”. Rolling her eyes and trying to embarrass me because I was asking for help. I noticed that she continued to insult me to other customers lying and stating that I had swore at her and she had lived in Sicily for three years and that what I said was “ inappropriate”. If she really knew what I said in Italian she would know I said “ god give me strength to figure out this ticket issue”. The fact she had lied and said “ I was swearing” to other guests I would soon be on tour with which made it extremely uncomfortable having them believe I had done such a thing. What gets even worse is that she purposely did not give me my wristband for entry on the tour on purpose. When I get back in line to ask her about my wristband she was very facetious about handing my wristband stating “ oh you didn’t get a wristband? The only people I know who didn’t get one was from that ignorant Italian woman” which she knew she had done on purpose so we would not be able to go on the tour. Luckily I asked Alan the tour guide about the wristbands and he said I needed it before entry. If you check the cameras on date 2/23/23 at 3:20-3:30 you can see her intentionally not giving out the wristbands to me but giving them out all to the other tourists. This absolutely ruined my experience for the tour in which I could not enjoy due to how I was discriminated by EVA. I want the manager Mr. Patrick to reach out and do something about EVAs unprofessionalism. As long as she is working there I would tell all guests and tourists to avoid and skip this tour, and find third party services and tour guides that will have respect and not receive any prejudice treatment. I expect there to be repremandable action because there is no reason for Eva to put down let alone disrespect anyone because of their cultural background. I should not be punished for speaking two languages ESPECIALLY TO MYSELF because it truly is a beautiful thing I hope you are reading this Patrick and to reach out, I would hate for anyone to receive any disrespect especially towards any ethnic groups...
Read moreBasin Street Station and its Brakeman Hotel are no longer "hidden" gems of New Orleans' historical and cultural cornucopia. The magnificent restoration of a former Southern Railway facility, with its railroad theme and decor, on the edge of the famous French Quarter, has become a "must see" and "comfort zone" for tourists and locals alike. The vision and creativity of the owners are apparent, and the warmth and kindness of the staff of this Valentino Hotels New Orleans property give full-bodied meaning to the words "Southern Hospitality." They are skilled, sincere and tireless ambassadors for this "Crescent City" they so clearly love. But perhaps I am biased!! A native New Orleanian now living abroad, I first saw the Basin Street Station when it first opened several years ago, and with great pride I offered my collection of Southern Railway electric trains and railroadiana (40 years in the making) as a permanent exhibit. I wanted to be a part of Basin Street Station. This past Mardi Gras (2024), my young son and I visited our "hometown" (for the first time in his life and for the first time in several years for me), and we stayed at the Brakeman Hotel onsite. Every part of the experience could not have been better, and my son was beaming with pride. When we departed the day after Mardi Gras, the "Basin Street Blues" swept over us, and "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?" became a mainstay in our music playlists. So, back we will come for Mardi Gras 2025. There's nothing quite like it. Thank you Michael Valentino. Harvey...
Read moreI am deeply disappointed with the experience my guests, family, and friends had with hotel security officer Greg during the Super Bowl. From the moment we interacted with him, he was dismissive, rude, and completely unprofessional. Instead of maintaining a secure and welcoming environment, he displayed an attitude that was both condescending and unnecessarily aggressive.
It’s unfortunate that someone in a position of authority would treat people in such a manner, especially during a high-profile event like the Super Bowl when professionalism and respect should be a priority. His behavior not only put a damper on our experience but also reflected poorly on the hotel as a whole.
I strongly urge management to address this issue, as no one should have to deal with such disrespect. A hotel is only as strong as the people representing it, and having someone like Greg interacting with guests is a disservice to the establishment. I hope to see improvements in the future because this was an experience I would not want anyone else...
