One a star for the treatment my boyfriend and I received when we came to pick up the food. I don’t like being accused of being racist. I don’t think I’ll come back after the way we were treated the evening of 12/20. My boyfriend and I went to pick up an order I had made over the phone and were greeted by a lot of hostility.
I had laughed on the phone because my boyfriend and I thought the amount of food we were ordering for just us two was ridiculous. I thought it was funny because every time he thought I was done, I kept ordering more food. I chose to give the person taking my order my “American” name because they misspelled it and I had one bar of service where I was, so I didn’t want to go back and forth trying to correct the spelling of my name. I just wanted to make it easier for both of us. Well apparently, the person taking my order misunderstood this and thought I was laughing at their accent. I think they also assumed we were ignorant Americans because we ordered everything mild (we both have really sensitive stomachs). I stayed in the car while my boyfriend went to grab the food and drinks. The person who took my order INSISTED on helping my boyfriend carry the drinks (he didn’t need any help) and came out to our car to confront me. She opened the back door of our car without being told to do so, and set the drinks inside. Then she came back to the front and through the driver’s side door confronted me, and talked about how she’s Indian and has an accent and basically accused me of laughing at her accent. She continued to defend herself even after I said “I’m sorry, I wasn’t laughing at your accent, I was just laughing at how much food we got.” I thought it was really unprofessional and honestly scary. Did she come out cause she wanted to fight me? I felt really threatened.
I know she’s probably experienced a lot of racism in this country. I am glad she felt brave enough to advocate for herself because it’s very hard to do so. But I am so hurt and disappointed that she chose to defend herself to the wrong person. I was not laughing at her. Period. I was laughing at myself. Nobody was being racist. I know all about accents. Both of my parents have accents, especially my dad who immigrated here from Lebanon. I would never put someone else through the same racism and pain my own family has experienced. I just wanted some food. I thought about giving all the food to the homeless because I was convinced they did something to the food. Spit in it, put their hair in it, etc. But I spent over $100 on the food and was starving. So I ate it. I woke up the next morning genuinely wondering if I’d eaten someone’s spit or piss, and decided to write this review because I shouldn’t have to worry about food safety all because of a...
Read moreThe food is amazing. Decoration is amazing. However, the service is terrible. We and two people who were there before us were seen by three employees and sat on the couch waiting for someone to tell us if we can go and sit but we were treated like we weren’t there. We sat there for about 15 minutes then my husband decided to ask as we can see empty tables. They said we can sit but they didn’t bother to tell before we asked. Then we got water that was foggy and white then it cleared after a minute. At cash out we got charged 15% tip without consent or even being informed and we signed the receipt based on trust without proof reading then i called and asked him to refund it which he will be but he said the owner told him its fine to charge tips. The owner is the restaurant owner not the owner of my card!!! Five stars for the food and one for service. And average of 3. Update 1 I got scammed, they never refunded me. Read the rest below and watch out for the tips they write without consent. Update 2 I called them today and told that i didn’t get the refund that it has been two weeks almost. He said he wont refund me for the unauthorized tip he took from me until i remove the thief’s picture from the comment after he said he would refund it. I ended the call and the restaurant manager called me to have me delete the picture instead of apologizing for having his employee steal. He said they will refund my money that they owe me that they took without my consent if i delete...
Read moreSo I have had food from here delivered a whole bunch of times but tonight was my first night actually dining in. Honestly, it was my favorite restaurant in the city before tonight and now that I've dined in it's official. Very cute interior in a random spot near the overpass. It was extremely clean and beautiful in the dining area. My friend and I shared the chilli shrimp and some samosa as appetizers and we get those almost everytime we get food from here. The shrimp are spicy and literally make you sweat. The heat somehow makes you feel joy while you're eating. We also had the Korma and Biryani which are our go to dishes from here and it was so nice having them fresh out of the kitchen instead of delivery. Best Briyani I've ever had is from here. We also took home chilli chicken, lamb curry and shrimp masala for our friends at home. Also their go to meals from here and both are always happy. The naan is heavenly and fresh made. They even brought us out those little donut things in the delicious and floral syrup that I just adore, especially when it's fresh and warm. The service was impeccable and friendly. Three appetizers, four entree's and lots of naan for $130.00. which is a bargain for the quality and size of portions. Just a wonderful meal in my...
