I got dozens of bed bug bites all over my body during my stay here. Reading other reviews this place has a long history of infestation and management doesn't seem to care. I seriously dreaded coming back to sleep here and counted down the days, prisoners must have more spacious, better, cleaner living conditions... I stayed almost a month here during my move and would rather sleep on the subway or in a park than pay to stay another night here, these are less rooms and more cubicles with a grated ceiling meaning you will hear everyone around you watching movies/making noises/snoring etc(bring headphones/earplugs), I saw various mites/roaches/spiders in the communal restroom and even my bed during my stay, this place is like 1 step above a homeless shelter, I think it partly serves as housing for homeless based on the people I saw sleeping in the lobby, the bed is very narrow and will be too short to stretch out completely if you are 5'10~ or taller, yes the geographic location is nice and yes I like the concept of "capsule hotels" but that doesn't excuse that this place is infested and needs a deep clean/renovation. I don't understand why nothing in the "rooms" are dusted or cleaned execpt the sheets it seems. The staff are nice and the location is good but I honestly felt so gross having bed bugs feast on me every night, stay in a hostel, stay anywhere else.

The Bowery Grand Hotel shouldn’t even be labeled as a “hotel.” I understand the old cliché saying, “you get what you pay for,” but this cheap place takes its one-star rating to a whole new level in terms of carelessness.||||From the moment you walk in, a strong unpleasant smell reeks the stairwell and basically sets the tone for the entire experience. Second, it’s nothing but a narrow set of stairs at the entrance – definitely nowhere near ADA-compliant – and weird etiquette signs such as “no pets,” “no bikes” and “no visitors” are plastered on several windows.||||The lobby is cluttered with trash and (at least during my visit) either drug addicts or homeless people were sleeping in the lobby, making the visit somewhat uncomfortable. At least the receptionist was polite and respectful when I checked in for my room.||||But the category that predominantly makes the Bowery Grand Hotel an absolute horror show is cleanliness – or lack thereof. If there was a separate category for cleanliness, it would easily earn zero stars out of 100 and I’m not exaggerating, either. There were dirty stains on the bed sheets, the walls inside my room were stained and I found a dead bug on my bed. I arrived at the hotel with no insect bites on my skin and after my two-night stay, I noticed seven small insect bites on various parts of my body, so bed bugs are a serious problem here. As far as the rooms themselves go, it is nothing more than a tiny square space with a bed and a chicken-wire fence up above – which is sadly comparable to a typical prison cell. The restrooms are shared communal spaces and they were disgusting. Mold and mildew can be seen on the walls, ceiling and sink. The floor inside the shower was so filthy that I waited until I got back home to take a shower. No windows or air conditioning exists. And finally to top it all off, the restroom consists of NO TOILET PAPER whatsoever!!! This forced me to release my bodily waste at either Moynihan Train Hall or at a nearby restaurant.||||Again, I understand that “you get what you pay for” at an average one-star hotel, but it is still absolutely unacceptable for any hotel to provide an unsanitary experience for any guest. Staying at the Bowery Grand Hotel is a serious health and humane hazard and I’m quite sure violates many basic health codes; I have no idea how this place even exists or is in operation. This place either needs to deep-cleaned to the extreme or be completely shut down for good.||||Long story short: Do not book this “hotel” ever …. even if it’s $10 per night and you’re homeless. If you want to sleep, save money and avoid getting bed bugs, use the 24/7 NYC...

Not worth the cheap price! I, like everyone else, went here for the cheap price, but even I have my limits. I ignored the warnings, and I shouldn't have. The staff is friendly and the building is secure enough, but the rooms are unacceptable. You're basically in a janitor's closet sized space, and it has NO CEILING. In case you're not sure what that means, it means the only thing dividing the space between you and other guests, are the tall walls. You can hear every move they make. Every belch, snore, passing of gas (which happened a lot), and phone call/phone alarms at all times of night. There is no where to put your things, so I couldn't even unpack. There's barely room to turn around, just a small hook on the wall and an outlet to plug in your phone. The harsh fluorescent light is not comfortable at night, and the light from the other rooms will shine into yours. So if you need darkness to sleep, that's entirely dependent on the other guests turning out their lights. The bed is also AWFUL. When I arrived the sheets had hair and blood stains on them. They changed them out for me, but who can comfortably sleep on something after that? Also I woke up with SEVERAL bug bites...SEVERAL!! The bathrooms are a mess too. You share them with everyone on your floor, so complete strangers are using the facility before you and most don't cleanup well. They don't supply seat covers for the toilet seats either and the floor is usually flooded with water, so changing in there is tricky, if you don't' want your clothes wet. Yes, the place is cheap, but the conditions are sub-human. I will never go back! No privacy, wet and dirty bathrooms, blood-stained sheets on bedbug infested mattresses and barely enough room to breathe. I'm 5'11 and could barely fit on the mattress, which is the length of the room. Pay more and go...
