I’ve had this matcha ice cream spot on my list for a while, and last Tuesday, I finally got the chance to check it out with a friend. Tucked away in a quiet corner, Café Maiko had a warm, inviting glow that instantly made it feel like a hidden gem. Despite the snow falling outside, the promise of rich, creamy matcha was too tempting to resist.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Haley and Sidney, who were not only super friendly but also really knew their flavors. The space itself had a laid-back, cozy vibe—perfect for catching up over a cold treat. The menu had an impressive variety, from matcha frappés to shaved ice and lattes, making it a tough choice.
We decided to try both the soft serve and the pints, going with Milo Chocolate and Calpico. The soft serve had this perfectly smooth texture that melted in your mouth, and personally, I liked it even more than the pints. But my friend had a different take, finding them both on the sweeter side. Either way, the flavors were bold, rich, and well-balanced. The matcha itself had that deep, earthy bitterness balanced beautifully with just the right amount of sweetness, creating an indulgent yet refined taste that stayed with us long after we’d finished.
One surprising discovery was Calpico, Japan’s take on frozen yogurt. We never knew Japan had its own version, and it turned out to be a delightful contrast to the matcha—light, refreshing, and slightly tangy. It offered a unique twist to the usual frozen treats, proving that there’s always something new to learn and taste.
Even with the cold weather outside, the experience was well worth it, proving that good dessert knows no season. Something about this spot just felt right. Maybe it was the atmosphere, maybe it was the ice cream, or maybe it was just one of those nights where everything aligned perfectly. Whatever it was, I know I’ll be back. If you’re a fan of unique flavors and a relaxed, welcoming space, this place is definitely worth a...
Read moreFound this cute little spot who loves matcha just as much as me. I order an ube latte , Maiko Special , and a lychee soft serve. The staff were so friendly they even gave me a fresh baked cookie to try.
I love anything lychee and the soft serve didn’t disappoint. They have seasonal flavors and this is the current one till October I believe. Than comes black sesame , yum.
The ube latte had the perfect balance of sweetness . Not too sweet but sweet enough. I have been loving how popular ube has gotten as its has great benefits and is just simply delicious.
The Maiko special was a dessert like no other. It had ingredients that I had not tried before but was so good. This was the most fulfilling item I picked up. Inside were some beans or what looked like beans and it was soooooo good . I have no idea what it was but highly recommend.
& if you get lucky enough to get the cookies while they are fresh out the oven , you neeed to try one. Even if they arent , its a must try. They are made in house and have a little mochi inside.
Maiko is my new favorite matcha spot for all my...
Read moreI visited this restaurant today with friends for a birthday. What started as a lovely night with friends ended in us being argued down for $20. My friend did not like her Ramen after tasting it due to the low quality of the broth and ramen noodle esk noodle and sent it back almost like new.
Not only did the waitress rush us to order, walking up to the table without even a hello and saying “whoever is ready can order now 4x until we all ordered, but she failed to alert her manger that the dish was returned, resulting in us being charged for the dish.
When we asked for a refund, the manager complained that the food had been thrown away, and that it was the responsibility of the customer to catch the receipt. He argued with us for at least 10 minutes, drawing the attention of everyone in the restaurant and humiliating us in the process. We left with a $20 gift card for a place that we will never return to.
I would not recommend this spot. There are much better places with much better...
