Caveat emptor! My experience with this practice can be summed up in three lines:
Bait and switch unethical billing practices that are borderline fraudulent Shoddy dental work by inexperienced dentists with poor clinical skills Persistent upselling and unnecessary procedures to raise costs
This practice lists themselves as in-network for your insurance on ZocDoc, but will then charge you out-of-network fees at exorbitant prices not on the insurance fee schedule. I've contacted ZocDoc about this and their Trust & Safety team is currently investigating this.
Rather than submitting the treatment plan and waiting to see what the insurance company will reimburse, they will conduct the unnecessary treatment (e.g., deep cleanings) and leave you with a hefty bill. They have you pay up front out-of-network fees that they set for unnecessary dental work that get denied by your insurance and thus, you will be denied reimbursement for the out-of-pocket expenses. They will try to hit your out-of-pocket maximum with the procedures they recommend and when you have a dental emergency (e.g., a botched treatment by their dentists), you will have to pay everything out-of-pocket.
Dr. Ditta botched a filling, drilling below the depth that she should have and exposed my nerve which led to an infection of the tooth's root, significant pain, and an emergency root canal. Dr. Ditta never offered so much as a mea culpa or offered any reasoning as to why she would drill below the depth indicated by the imaging and X-rays they had done. As they had maxed out my out-of-pocket expenses for the year with a bunch of unnecessary work, I had to pay out-of-pocket for the root canal and the crown. All of which was due to their fault.
To add insult to injury my new dentist reviewed the deep cleanings where they claimed to do 4 surfaces per tooth and took new X-rays which indicated that at most 3 surfaces and likely only two were done. It is possible that they will charge you out of pocket for work they claim to do, but you cannot verify unless you have another dentist review their work.
Lastly, they will upsell you on invisalign and show you AI doctored photos of your teeth drastically shifting, and from what other reviewers are stating they also upsell on other completely medically unnecessary operations. Sitting in their office waiting for my appointment I hear of patients on the phone discussing payment plans for bills in excess of 10k. Your best bet is to stay away from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the best experience at Dental Serenity of Manhattan. When I walked into the very clean office, I was greeted by the most friendly and pleasant staff. The receptionists were so kind and made the paperwork very easy to go through. I was then introduced to Hillary, the dental assistant, who was very nice, patient, and had a wonderful personality. She took beautiful x-rays and photos of my teeth. I was then greeted by the dentist, Dr. Keh and the dental hygienist, Taylor Capua.
Dr. Keh was by far the nicest and most thorough dentist I have ever been to. She showed me the pictures of my teeth and took the time to explain, step by step, what she had found. She answered all my questions in the most polite and courteous manner. She made everything very easy for me to understand. The technology used at Dental Serenity of Manhattan is very advanced. The pictures of my teeth were displayed to me on a large flat screen television so that I can see even the finest of details. I was then allowed to pick shows that I liked on Netflix that I could watch during my cleaning.
My teeth were then cleaned by Taylor Capua, the most kind, gentle, and thorough dental hygienist I have ever been to. Taylor explained everything that she was going to do before she did it. She made me feel extremely comfortable while cleaning my teeth. I canāt thank Taylor enough for the amazing cleaning that she gave me. I didnāt think it was possible for my teeth to be this white. Taylorās outstanding work makes me want to smile with my teeth, something I havenāt done in years. Taylor truly provided me with the best cleaning I have ever received. She gave me the best tools and tips to maintain my, now very clean and white, teeth.
I thank Dr. Keh, Taylor Capua, Hillary, and the wonderful staff, for making me have a wonderful experience and a beautiful smile. To the people who are fearful of the dentist because of pain or feel that they will be treated poorly for their dental hygiene, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DENTAL SERENITY OF MANHATTAN! They will make you feel comfortable and will give you back your smile! Thank you for allowing me to have a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI regret having my wisdom tooth extraction done here. Iād previously had work done here earlier in the year and it seemed like the most logical continuation of care as they had already mapped out a treatment plan. The only positive of this visit was that the front desk receptionist is warm and friendly.
The extraction was done without anesthesia and originally without enough numbing injection so I felt pain as she unsuccessfully tried to loosen the tooth. She also seemed distracted and more preoccupied with entertaining what appeared to be friends that stopped by the office and left me with numbing cream at the extraction site and disappeared without any explanation for almost 30 min. After explaining that I was still experiencing pain she applied more numbing cream and continued with what felt like a primitive extraction. Pulling and pressure and pulling until she decided to split the tooth in half and was finally able to remove it.
Post-op instructions were haphazard and they even had me sign the informed consent after I was already in the chair and ultimately after the procedure. Five days later I still have shooting pain near the extraction site and surrounding teeth from what I believe is dry socket.
I called their office as the website states that Dental Emergencies are welcome and their office is Open Saturday. Both statements are false.
The receptionist took my message and said she would mark it as an emergency and I should expect a callback and additionally informed that the practice is not open on Saturdays contradicting whatās listed on their website. I never received a callback.
To add to this all, I paid over $1,000 out of pocket for this procedure with the expectation that they would file the necessary paperwork for insurance reimbursement as they donāt accept any insurance. Iām now concerned reading the reviews regarding their shifty billing practices and I am leaning towards cancelling my post-op follow up and continuing...
