My recent visit to Bar and Board was a disheartening affair, marked by a series of regrettable events that tainted what should have been a pleasant dining experience.
The disappointment began with a phone call to inquire about gluten-free options (no mention online indicating options). Instead of receiving helpful information, the staff responded with surprising rudeness, displaying a lack of willingness to accommodate my dietary restrictions. Despite this initial setback, I decided to proceed with my reservation, hoping for a better experience at the restaurant itself.
Upon entering, the promising ambiance quickly faded as we ordered a salmon dish that arrived with an unexpected flaw – the fish was undercooked, leaving the center raw. This not only compromised the taste but also raised concerns about the kitchen's attention to detail and quality control. I understand mistakes happen and the stress of the job but we were the only ones in the restaurant and that should've given them ample time to cook fish properly.
The disappointment extended to the service, where servers at Bar and Board were not only rude but also openly displayed disapproval with dirty looks. From dismissive attitudes to impatience, it became increasingly evident that customer satisfaction was not a priority. These unprofessional behaviors significantly detracted from the overall dining experience.
To add insult to injury, when the bill arrived, I noticed that the suggested 20% appeared to be higher than the actual 20% calculation. This discrepancy in billing practices, coupled with the earlier service issues, only deepened my dissatisfaction and left me questioning the restaurant's integrity.
Overall, my experience at Bar and Board was one filled with disappointment. From the subpar preparation of the salmon to the rude servers, questionable billing practices, and the unsettling display of dirty looks, I cannot recommend this establishment to fellow diners. In a city abundant with dining options, it's disheartening to encounter a restaurant that falls short on multiple fronts. Save your time and money and explore other culinary offerings...

Read moreI was excited after doing extensive research to try this restaurant. It looked super cute and had great menu items. I made a reservation for 4 adults and a toddler at 5pm on Saturday 12/31/22. We were sat down and then told that b/c it's New Years Eve there was a pre fixed menu at $80 pp. I'd looked online previously and had been very interested in the burger. So that was disappointing that they didn't let us know when we made the reservation or before we sat. We likely would've left. The meal included a free glass of house wine, one appetizer, 6ish different dinners and three desserts. The house wine was disgusting. When placing my order I told the waiter I did not like horseradish sauce and asked if I could substitute for Any other sauce. He said I'm sorry we can't do that tonight, no substitutions. I said, then can I speak to a manager? If you expect us to pay $80 for a preset meal we were not told about in advance, it would be nice if you guys could make a substitution on a sauce. He went back to the kitchen, came back said he spoke with the cook and the cook would allow it.
Not too long later our meals started coming out but only three of the four meals came out! We were patiently waiting for the fourth meal which they never told us would be delayed. One of the meals took an additional 10 plus minutes to come out! That is unacceptable. Especially with a preset menu. We got there when they first opened. It was a meal that was definitely already made in advance. That being said no manager ever came over to speak with us about our poor experience. I will not go back here in the future nor...
