This hotel looked nice on the Hilton app. For some reason I thought they had a pool, free breakfast, and that check-out time was noon. No pool, breakfast is a bagel bar, checkout is at 11. When we walked in the first thing I noticed is that it smells bad as soon as you walk in the door. Waited the longest time for the elevator to make it 4 floors down and then it was a sketchy ride up to the third floor. I did not use the elevator again. The hallway had an out of service vending maching and didn't look very clean. They also charged me $25 extra in case we damaged the room or something but I got that money back. It was hot in the room when we entered and took a bit to figure out the A/C controls. The refrigerator was missing a leg and leaning sideways, cabinet was missing the handle. Random screw on the floor (do they even vacuum?). Looks like it was recently remodeled (A budget remodel it seems, like putting lipstick on a pig. They didn't even take the sticker off the bathroom counter). Moldy caulk around the bathtub. Also no privacy in the restroom due to the huge gap under the door. I booked a room for 3 adults and 2 children so I figured there was a pull-out couch bed. Nope, just a nasty looking love seat that I wouldn't want to sleep on. Went to the front desk to ask for a cot and was told we are only allowed to have 4 people in the room and could not get a cot. It was too late to find a different hotel because we were there for the Steelers game that night. We needed a place to sleep so we made it work. Got up the next day and their 'bagel bar' didn't even have a working toaster. The only good thing about this place is there are multiple fast-food places and a gas station within walking distance. I am shocked Hilton would put their name on this building. Might try...
Read moreI want to preface I read the reviews and discovered this was a recently converted Hilton brand (less than a month old). September 1st was there one month anniversary.
Willing to give them a chance (due to recent renovations), we committed to staying at Spark in Washington, PA.
Needless to say I was shocked (it's Hilton)
Where do I start: The elevator was frightening (needs service) Spark logo damaged, cracked in 3 spots Room reno was decent; but patchwork ----tub needed refacing; tiles loose Staff not Hilton trained (started at check-in) Scolded by a staffer about luggage rack Luggage racks were visibly worn (beat up) No pool or fitness center Ice machine is on the first floor only Breakfast was not properly stored (see pics) ---juice was just colored water (literally) ---eggs were in a clear container (no fridge) ---cream cheese was not refrigerated ---both toasters not working ---yogurt in a bath of ice water ---no physical receipt available at check-out
The few staff people (literally less than six) appeared to be working around the clock and worked all areas of the hotel (front desk, laundry, housekeeping, breakfast, night shift, etc) our entire stay. Seemed strange---many times there was no one at front desk.
This definitely wasn't a Hilton experience. It's incomplete. Not ready for prime time AT ALL.
The place should be closed until full renovation, brand transition, and training is complete.
I feel like I wasted my points on a subpar experience.
Last thing: a corporate guy showed up during our visit. I really wanted to talk to him about this place. I gave him a quick overview while in the jerking and vibrating elevator...
Read moreI stayed at this location for one night in September 2025. I had a wonderful time. ||I have stayed in several Spark properties now, which is Hilton's newest brand and the budget brand. (The budget brand used to be Tru, now that is more economy and this is budget)||Something you have to understand is that every Spark is going to be different. The Spark brand takes former hotels from various brands (I think this one was a Country Inn & Suites) that are typically going downhill pretty fast and they do a pretty good remodel and put new life into these properties.||They are usually older buildings; therefore, even after the remodel not everything is going to be perfect. However, they are doing a wonderful job transforming these former not great properties.||This stay was fantastic. The rooms are really large at this property, with plenty of space. I had a one King room on the third floor. ||All of the furniture is brand new. It had a nice desk, some nice lighting, a very comfortable bed, large television, good climate control, new carpet, and plenty of outlets and plugs. The bathroom has a large counter and great water pressure; however, they do have shower/tub combos, instead of just showers. There is also a large couch in the main living space. ||The complimentary breakfast is great. Keep in mind that the Spark brand usually does not offer any hot breakfast. This is a simplified, but still expansive breakfast offering. In fact, this one is actually larger than a Spark I stayed at last year in Georgia. ||Either way, I had a fantastic time. I think you will enjoy yourself, knowing you are getting a nice room for the...
