I have stayed at this property for the last 3-4 years for a wrestling tournament. Never had a complaint until this stay. During our stay I was woke up by the sound of our phone ringing. Half asleep I thought maybe my husband had a wake up call scheduled. The phone stopped ringing before I got out of bed. It began ringing again. I answer it. Someone said something along the lines of we had a complaint about you smoking in the room. Still half asleep I wasn’t sure if it was a prank or what was going on. You hung up the phone. In the morning when I was fully awake. I told me husband that i remembered the phone ringing and that I think I answered but wasn’t sure if it was a prank. So called the front desk and Sheena answered, I said I am just woke up and wanted to know if you had called me in the night about smoke or if it was a prank. She rudely said yes I did and you hung up on me. I explained to her that I was sound asleep when she called and wasnt sure what was going on. She proceed to tell me there was a complaint about us smoking in our room and that she had come by and smelled smoke coming from our room but she didn’t want to knock and wake us up. And that she was made a note about this and would be passing this onto incoming staff. I said that my whole family was asleep at the time of this event and that we are non smokers. She said uh huh. So I said What you don’t believe what I am saying to you? She said no! I said well I wish you would of knocked instead so you would of known there was no smoking going on in our room. I said it’s crazy that I am being accused or something I didn’t do. I’ve been staying at Holiday Inn for 20+ years of my adult life and have maintained Gold Elite status the last few years and never have had a single compliant like this before. She hung the phone up on me. We went down to leave the hotel and I stopped to ask her name. She was very rude to me rolling her eyes and shaking her head. I asked why she hung up on me to me some bogus lie about the phone hanging up itself. I asked If she had a manger and she said yes her name up Tia Larry see it up there on the wall! I have never encountered someone so nasty in all my IHG stays!! I have never been awaken in the middle of the night to be accused of something I did not do. If I was smoking would I really call at 6am to follow up with them? We come to this town yearly, not only do we stay there but have other members of our team stay there as well. But let me tell you after the run in with Sheena I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future and will discourage all in my wrestling community to avoid this...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here as a half-way point as we were travelling with our young child for our first serious road trip. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and professional; but we were a little disappointed with some of the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities.
On our way to our destination we stopped in at night and were warmly greeted by the front desk (Victoria I believe was her name). We promptly went to sleep as we had been travelling all day. The room was very clean and had a large selection of pillows of various firmness that we printed on the sheet (clever!). I enjoyed the breakfast and the lady running the dining room was very serious about her job. She had notebooks on the menu and was prompt in refilling the coffee when I took the last of it. Upon checking out the electrical plug-in unit by the bed came out of the wall when we unplugged our phones. I reported this to the front desk and made a note of it for maintenance. The first visit was easily five stars!
The disappointment came when we returned three days later. Our child was cranky from travelling and we placated her by telling her she can go swimming in the pool when we get there. That kept her mostly happy for the rest of the trip. The front desk remembered us from our previous stay and sincerely apologized for the pool being closed due to the pump breaking down. This was a big disappointment and a let down for us. This, combined with the electrical plug-in issue from our previous stay caused me to look around and see if there are any other maintenance issues. I noticed that the elevator was missing a screw in the door panel that shows whether the elevator is going up or down.
I was too tired from travelling to walk around and inspect the rest of the hotel, but I would have not been surprised if there are a few other items that could use some repairs and preventative maintenance. Overall, this hotel is great and we will return. The staff and their hard work is the reason we will not hesitate to come back. My review here is for the owner and to encourage them to invest more money and effort into the maintenance to enhance the customers experience, and to show that you value your staff and their hard work. Customer service is taken very seriously here by the manager and staff, and I greatly enjoyed their warmness and sincerity.
Bottom line, I would encourage anyone to stay here as it is an affordable, clean, and restful place to pause your travels. If the maintenance issues are addressed, this hotel easily...
Read moreThe information given by hotel is wrong, their breakfast ends at 9:30 NOT 10:00. Guests plan their days, business or pleasure, so incorrect information can negatively affect their day. A little before 9:30 the unfriendly person in charge of breakfast began to remove the bread and cereal. He stopped restocking the sausage hashbrowns and eggs, and combined everything into one warmer around 9:25, and the heat must have been off because everything was room temperature. When we got there at 9:20 the small refrigerator had 2 waters and 1 milk, literally 1 milk. He finally restocked the refrigerator with milk eggs yogurt and whatever else around 9:57, and then he immediately locked it. We watched 2 families and a small group of truckers between 9:30 and 10:00. All planned their morning to wake up and enjoy breakfast before beginning their day. One family made pancakes and that was it, the other family took nothing and went back to their room, and the truckers picked through the cold "warm" food and joked about his pathetic the breakfast was. However, it wasn't pathetic, they just didn't know that the breakfast actually ends at 9:30 not 10:00. That is an EPIC FAIL on the part of the hotel. Nothing should have been removed, stopped being restocked, or turned off until 10:00 am .. PERIOD. If the breakfast person needs to start shutting down early so they can leave early, then bring in another employee to cover. If the breakfast area starts closing at 9:30 then fix your misinformation. The 1 day we were there, including the 2 families, the truckers, and ourselves, we saw 16 peoples mornings affected by the inaccurate times provided by the hotel. I know, it's not the end of the world, but the majority of guests plan their days around breakfast. Meetings, events, activities, can all be thrown off because now I'm not eating breakfast, or I have to make an additional stop that wasn't planned, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Additional thoughts, the pool was nice, but the "hot" tub was not 104°, I would guess closer to 98°. The rooms and hotel were nice and clean. Check in and out was smooth, but getting a late checkout was a hassle and felt like it...
