Extended Stay America Suites- Norwalk - Stamford — Hotel in Norwalk

The female manager was rude, no idea what her name was because she spoke to me from behind the wall of the front desk, not Etienne. He was great. Alexander was also great, but the female manager was rude on different occasions, again talked behind the wall when I asked about them cleaning the snow and ice because I had to get to work, wanted my driver's license to use a shovel and had no one to clean the snow or help me. I couldn't get out of my spot and they wanted me to go back to the car on the ice to get my driver's license so this time I wasn't lucky and I fell. They called to tell me they couldn't reimburse me for any nights at least or my fall. Also witnessed the same staff members give someone else the shovel without i.d. Definitely targeted toward me/female/whatever. When the plow did come once.. they buried us all in. There is a huge ramp to get up that wasn't being cleaned and some cars couldn't even get up in the snow or ice. I almost slid all the way back down. I had to floor it sideways to avoid that. They use key cards to give you access and we each had one and had to visit the front desk almost every night because the cards would stop working and they wouldn't let us in. They made my daughter wait in the cold until I was available to call from my phone number to allow her access. We were there about 45 days and this happened about 30 times, possibly more. Trash in hallways, parties with lots of weed, chips, beer, pizza, etc. in halls and stairwells. Trash room was disgusting. I asked numerous times for staff not to enter my room due to COVID pandemic. I put tiny note on door above key entry which they kept ripping off. When I inquired about it they kept saying they would note my account and tell staff not to enter. But they kept entering, took my white expensive towel thinking it was theirs. First thing they said is they would not reimburse me for it. Their towels would have hairs from previous guests stuck on them. Questionable laundry service which is why I was using my own towels and dishes. Both sinks in kitchen and bath leaked. Bath a lot. Water spots under both cabinets. Kitchen sink not even glued to kitchen counter. Heater was very loud. It woke us up often during the night. Also had a knocking noise. Couldn't find the source except that it was just the cheap heater. A male guest checking in was harassing my daughter who had the luggage trolley with our groceries DURING COVID pandemic, was touching our belongings asking if they were Christmas gifts while girl behind the desk did NOTHING. My daughter told me and then I came in and had to be on edge for our safety for the rest of the stay. That brings me to my next point, no security whatsoever, anyone can walk in, so it figures a guy was sleeping by the stairwell/window in the hall on the 3rd floor. Only stayed there because we eat healthy and needed the kitchen. It was not a full kitchen. No oven. Very misleading. Free wifi is a joke. Basically no internet. I paid for the upgraded internet and was on the phone literally almost every night, sometimes more than once or twice a night with Tech Support who kept making me go in the hall to fix it if that fixed it. I couldn't get anything done. I would never recommend nor stay there again. I only stayed from selling a house to closing on a new house. It was a pretty horrible stressful experience for us so much so that I made time I didn't have as a nurse to write...

I travel a lot for business. I have stayed almost 70 nights in extended stays in different places and always enjoyed my stay. ||||But never again. First night we had construction next to our room till midnight, second night a fire alarm and we stood in the cold.. people fighting in the hallway. and the place always smelled like POT everywhere. No Smoking indeed. ||Breakfast lounge in the picture, dead bolt lock on it.||Note. I paid cash in full for 8 days for a reservation booked on my online account. and left my card.||Door locks dont work well, a random guest just walked into the room. We just wanted a business room for the week. We complained about all the drug use at the hotel||||When my partner asked for quarters for the laundry room on the 4th day. None. When we asked for Toilet paper we were told "we dont got none." When she laughed and said "wow you guys dont have anything"||||My partner was yell at, "I saw your complaints, mind your business or we show you how its done around here." When my partner had enough and spoke up to put the manager in her place, the manager was insulted and followed her back to the room and said dont walk away from me I will stab you in the face"||||Back in the room trying to move past it. Suddenly the police came, and the manager said I wont be insulted you need to leave. ||||I quickly arrived, separated all the parties, the police letf as there was no police issue( cop actually said you can call us cause a guest complains about service.) , and we agreed to transfer hotels in the morning. We left for dinner. two hours later the hotel called and said because the narcotics unit came up to look at all the other drugs the first cops noticed in the hotel, we are getting the boot. ||||I had had enough, I said fine. With the cop on the phone we agreed with the manager to move out on a short hours' notice and the hotel would refund our deposit and the two days we didn't stay but paid in advance for. I booked a room at the Hilton (only 30 bucks more full breakfast and a pool) ||||When I checked everything out and came back to drop off the key. The manager said we could only have our deposit back because she was holding the rest as a late checkout fee. Really? a late check out fee. "The computer cant refund cash" (I assume that mean "we are keeping it) Nice scam, have people pay cash, evict them if they complain and pocket the money and re-rent the room. They charged 25 a day on top as a pet fee. That they kept also.||||I spoke with other guess and its anyone who complains in threatened with eviction.||The company should call me to deal with this right away to avoid...

Customer service at this establishment is horrific, plus there are safety issues. Police were even concerned.

The GM of this establishment is Horrific. She is rude. Has an attitude when you ask for the simplest request. There have been numerous complaints to upper management about the customer service at this establishment and upper management does nothing. They write it off as an isolated incident and they keep everything the same. Clearly this is how they like things.

Today the GM was rude to me because I dared to request a set of dishes and cooking utensils. The request was called in at 7:30pm last night. I received the dishes at 1pm today after numerous calls to the front desk and two trips to the front desk. I was quietly sitting in the lobby waiting for my Uber when the GM comes up to me with a set of haphazardly prepared dishes, plops them down rudely and says “here are your dishes”. Then she accused me of loitering in the lobby (I was quietly waiting for my Uber inside because it’s 92 degrees outside). The GM called my requests “noise”.

Also note that there is a group of construction workers staying at the hotel for an extended stay (60-90 days at a time) and during the weekends they loiter outside and get drunk on beer. The back lawn smells of human urine… not dog urine, but human urine-I am a medical provider I know the difference.

There is nothing in the neighborhood but a gas station across the street, so if you wanted to take a walk that is it. Trip to the gas station and back.

The cost of staying at the hotel last night was $141. For $141 it’s clear that this is not the Ritz Carlton, the max for the room is $250 as it states on the notice on the wall. For these prices one expects to be treated with respect, common decency, and like a human being.

You aren’t going to get that here.

I recommend the Amsterdam Hotel in Stamford CT as an alternative. It is walking distance to many desirable locations, restaurants, the Stamford train station etc. it is safe. Management is polite and does not tolerate Shenanigans like drugs or other behavior. There aren’t a troop of construction workers getting drunk and urinating on the grass.

THE AMSTERDAM IS ALSO MUCH CHEAPER THAN THIS HOTEL.

Don’t believe management when they say that this is an isolated incident. They will always say that. This is how the place runs.
